Mike Tyson is seen by many as a once in a lifetime fighter.
He possessed freakish power, a unique style and an aura that had many of his opponents defeated before they even entered the ring. Tyson still holds the record as the youngest ever champion in boxing’s blue-ribbon division and has now heaped praise on a current heavyweight who he believes fans won’t see the like of again.
There was once genuine belief that ‘The Baddest Man On The Planet’ may never be beaten, until that fateful night against Buster Douglas in 1990.
Similarly, there are plenty of pundits and experts who feel the same about the current champion, Tyson Fury, whose size and skill continue to be a puzzle to the rest of the contenders in the division.
In an interview with Fight Hub TV, ‘Iron’ Mike labelled the current WBC Champion, who was named after him, as a ‘rare’ talent.
“He is rare, he is just rare. He’s once in a lifetime.
To be that successful [at that size], there has always been big guys that maybe look obese or overweight, but they have never been that successful.”
One man who some fans believe could have what it takes to defeat ‘The Gypsy King’ is the unified WBA, WBO & IBF champion, Oleksandr Usyk. The Ukrainian is also undefeated and is aiming to become just the second fighter in history to become undisputed champion at both cruiserweight and heavyweight, joining Evander Holyfield in the exclusive club.
Fury-Usyk will take place on February 17th in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, topping the event billed as ‘Ring of Fire’ with undercard details set to be announced in due course.
