In this movie, Zendaya is portraying the character of a tennis player. Ironically, she was trained by Coco Gauff’s coach, Brad Gilbert. Now in a recent podcast, Gilbert delves deeper into the similarities between actors and tennis players.

Now Gauff’s fans know well that this former US Open champion is a die-hard fan of Zendaya. Not to forget Gauff’s unbelievable happiness after the actress sent her a huge bouquet following her US Open win. Now Gauff’s coach reveals the similarities between the American tennis prodigy and the famous Hollywood star.

In a recent podcast, Coco Gauff’s coach Brad Gilbert speaks about training Zendaya for the Challengers movie. He delved deeper into how the actors and the tennis players got the same DNA. Gilbert said-“Believe it or not actors got a lot of the same DNA as tennis players. So I really think that working with Zendaya kind of really maybe was impedance for good experience for working with Coco. Well take Z, she is driven to be the best she can and a lot of tennis players did.”

Gilbert offered some snippets about working with Zendaya and explained his statement further. Gilbert said-“Coco got the same kind of DNA and you know expects and demands a lot from herself. And I think with Zendaya taking on the role like she literally absorbed herself and she want to figure out, you know literally she was starting from scratch, you know how she can you know be the best version of herself for this. And so you know we had body doubles, she learnt to really kind of you know more than the body double.”

Zendaya’s connection to tennis is nothing new. After Coco Gauff won her first Grand Slam title at the 2023 US Open, Zendaya congratulated her by sending flowers to her house. Coco Gauff then labeled this as the ‘coolest thing that happened’.

After Gauff’s US Open win in 2023, Zendaya sent the American tennis prodigy a beautiful bouquet. Gauff mentioned that the bouquet was extremely heavy and even her brother found it difficult to lift it. In Gauff’s words- “I didn’t really do anything that cool after winning the US Open, to be honest. But the messages you get from celebrities are crazy. The coolest thing that happened to me was Zendaya sent me flowers to my house. It was like a huge bouquet of flowers. My brother & I struggled to lift it up on the table. I think it weighed at least 50 pounds. It was so heavy. I think that was the coolest thing.”

Novak Djokovic confirms Nadal’s withdrawal from Indian Wells signals the end of an era

On February 22, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic met on the flight from Madrid to Indian Wells. The two players were on their way prepare for the first Masters 1000 of the year that was due to take place in early March.

Djokovic will debut this Saturday against Aleksander Vukic, however Nadal was left out of the tournament after injury forced him to withdraw just a few hours before his opening match against Milos Raonic.

The Serbian was asked about the disappointment of Nadal withdrawing from the tournament, although in response he was rather more circumspect than most anticipated.

“It’s unfortunate for the tournament that Rafa had to sit out,” Djokovic declared.

“He has done his best to be fit. Federer has retired and both Nadal and I won’t be playing much more. It is the end of an era.

“We must remember the good moments, matches and all the records achieved.

The current world number one was speaking with a degree of authority on the previous era of tennis, given the fact that on Monday March 18 he will double the number of weeks Nadal spent at the top of the ATP ranking: 418 to 209.

Nadal and Djokovic will be remembered as one of the greatest rivalries

To find the last time that the two most decorated players in history, in terms of titles, competed in the same tournament, you have to go back to the 2023 edition of the Australian Open.

With 24 and 22 majors, respectively, ‘Nole’ and Rafa have starred in one of the greatest rivalries in tennis history with 59 tournament wins between them.

Djokovic pulled just ahead of Nadal recently, moving to 30 titles compared to Nadal’s 29, meanwhile their last encounter against each other in tournament play was as far back as the 2022 Roland Garros quarter-final.

Lewis Hamilton could bring Mercedes staff member with him to Ferrari as ‘terms agreed’

One Mercedes employee could be about to follow in Hamilton’s footsteps towards Maranello.

A key Mercedes staff member is reportedly in talks to follow Lewis Hamilton to Ferrari from the beginning of the 2025 season.

Hamilton shocked the F1 world by signing a multi-year contract with the Scuderia in January, in a move which will see him team up with Charles Leclerc at the Italian team from 2025.

He agreed a new two-year contract with Mercedes last year, but it was revealed that the second year was only an optional extension that the seven-time world champion could choose not to exercise.

Mercedes are thus far yet to announce Hamilton’s replacement, with Max Verstappen, Fernando Alonso and Carlos Sainz among those linked with taking the soon-to-be vacant role.

PlanetF1 reported that Hamilton’s Ferrari contract contains a ‘no-poaching clause’, which means the Englishman cannot directly approach members of his own team to join him at the Scuderia.

While the Silver Arrows have not confirmed this publicly, a source told PlanetF1 that the existence of the clause was ‘accurate’.

However, such a clause doesn’t entirely stop a Mercedes team member moving across to Maranello – and it is claimed that one significant figure is close to completing a move in that direction.

According to Motorsport.nextgen-auto.com, sources claim that Mercedes driver development director Jerome d’Ambrosio has been in talks with the Scuderia over potentially joining the team in 2025.

It is also claimed that ‘terms have been agreed’ on a deal that would see d’Ambrosio join the team after completing a period of gardening leave.

D’Ambrosio is a former F1 driver, having raced for the Marussia Virgin Racing team in the 2011 season. He also deputised for Romain Grosjean at the 2012 Italian Grand Prix after the Frenchman received a one-race ban.

After retiring, the Belgian became team principal of Formula E team Venturi Racing before taking up his post at Mercedes.

Last season, D’Ambrosio filled the duties of regular team principal Toto Wolff at two Grands Prix after the Austrian was forced to undergo knee surgery.

Jose Mourinho and the Brazilian Ronaldo were at ringside to witness the stunning stoppage – and both made their way up to the apron to congratulate the Brit.

While his training team began to unlace his gloves Joshua saw the football legends edging closer towards him and leaned over the ropes to acknowledge the pair.

“My guy, my guy,” said Joshua as he shook Mourinho’s hand.

“You’re incredible,” gushed the Portuguese manager.

Mourinho and Ronaldo weren’t the only big-name celebrities to turn out in Saudi Arabia.

Cristiano Ronaldo, was as always, in the front row while boxing icons Mike Tyson, Manny Pacquiao, David Haye and Kell Brook were all in attendance as well.

Ngannou’s former dance partner Tyson Fury, who struggled immensely against the Cameroonian cage fighter last October, was also front and centre for the clash.

Speaking on the DAZN broadcast in the immediate aftermath of AJ-Ngannou, he said: “I’m sure Oleksandr Usyk will have something to say something about that. I had a s*** performance against Ngannou.

“AJ did absolutely fantastic and lit him up with a right hand, if he fights me after I beat Usyk twice then it will be a different game.

“There is quite a long way to go, fantastic performance from AJ but I have bigger fish to fry.

“If we are both still available after my two fights with Usyk, let’s get it on.

“He has to keep active and maybe he can fight Filip Hrgovic for the vacant IBF belt.”

Indian Wells: Emma Raducanu into round three as Dayana Yastremska retires

Briton Emma Raducanu is through to round three at Indian Wells after opponent Dayana Yastremska retired with an injury in the opening set.

Raducanu, 21, raced into a 4-0 lead in just 18 minutes during the first set.

Ukrainian Yastremska stepped to the back of the court between games, holding her stomach before retiring from the contest after being assessed by the medics.

Raducanu will face Peyton Stearns or Aryna Sabalenka in round three.

Wild card Raducanu broke Yastremska’s serve in the opening game with a well-placed dropped shot and then dug in to save a break point during her first service game.

A strong backhand sealed a second break before Raducanu comfortably held in the fourth game.

Yastremska also retired with an injury during her only other meeting with Raducanu at Portoroz in Slovenia in 2022.

It is the first time Raducanu has registered successive victories since she won three in a row to reach the fourth round at Indian Wells in March 2023.
