Juszczyk made an original vest for Iowa’s star to celebrate senior day

Taylor Swift. Simone Biles. And now Caitlin Clark.

Clark received a custom signature vest designed by Kristin Juszczyk as a surprise after her final regular-season game at Carver-Hawkeye Arena on Sunday. Clark and the No. 6 Hawkeyes gave their fans plenty of reasons to celebrate as she broke Pete Maravich’s all-time NCAA Division I scoring record just before halftime in a 93-83 win.

The vest features cutouts of Clark’s name and No. 22 from Iowa’s white and black jerseys. In diagonal black squares are stitched “NCAA women’s scoring leader” and “all-time Iowa leader in: points, assists, 3PM, FGM.” The school-specific records were specifically chosen since it was important to Clark, an Iowa native, and her fans, Juszczyk said.

“I wish I could add all her awards on there, but you would need 700 jackets to fit all that. Which is incredible,” Juszczyk told Yahoo Sports on Friday. “It’s a special piece and I hope she loves it.”

Juszczyk, whose husband, Kyle Juszczyk, plays for the San Francisco 49ers, teased the piece on her Instagram stories Wednesday with an emoji sequence: basketball, black heart, yellow heart, woman’s face. A few fans on social media caught on, and Juszczyk later added a photo showing her cut out a Big Ten logo patch and tagging State Farm.

It completes a trio of notable headliners in a whirlwind first two months of 2024 for Juszczyk. She earned overnight attention when she designed a Kansas City Chiefs puffer jacket for Swift to wear at the team’s sub-zero playoff game. It featured boyfriend Travis Kelce’s number, and an iconic photo circulated on social media of Swift behind frosted windows.

Weeks prior, she designed a vest for Simone Biles, the most decorated gymnast in Olympic history who will likely compete at the 2024 Paris Olympics, to wear in celebration of her husband, Green Bay Packers safety Jonathan Owens. Juszczyk also designed pieces for model Olivia Culpo, who is engaged to 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey, and actor Taylor Lautner, a diehard Detroit Lions fan. Each piece takes approximately a full 40-hour workweek, she said.

Clark’s vest is her first piece for a collegiate athlete or in the collegiate realm.

“It’s so special to me to be able to create, especially for a woman of her caliber,” Juszczyk said. “She’s such a trailblazer in her league and it’s special to be able to see her selling out these arenas and breaking all these records… What a great way to be able to show her how much her fans love her and to be able to just represent herself through a piece of clothing.”

Caitlin Clark received a customized vest on senior day from Kristin Juszczyk, who designed the viral Taylor Swift puffer coat.

State Farm reached out with the idea recently to commemorate Clark’s collegiate accomplishments, and Juszczyk jumped at the opportunity. The company signed Clark as its first collegiate athlete spokesperson in October and sponsored the “Covering Clark” in-game tracker as she pursued record after record.

Juszczyk also made a one-of-one vest for Jake from State Farm, the company spokesman played by Kevin Miles. Clark is featured in national commercials with Jake from State Farm, Jimmy Butler and Reggie Miller that have expanded her reach to household-name status.

State Farm is a WNBA sponsor with naming rights to the WNBA Draft for which Clark declared earlier this week. She is the presumptive No. 1 pick to the Indiana Fever on April 15 at BAM in Brooklyn where Jake from State Farm could make a repeat appearance after attending last year. The connection is one of the most clear examples of why Clark won’t lose all of her name, image and likeness deals joining the WNBA.

Miles and Kristyn Cook, chief marketing officer at State Farm, were in attendance at Iowa City on Sunday, and Maya Moore was a surprise guest for Clark. Moore was Clark’s favorite player while growing up and attending Minnesota Lynx games.

Juszczyk had prior commitments and was unable to attend the hottest ticketed women’s basketball game in history. She was in New York on Friday and shared photos on her Instagram of meetings with the NFL and NBA. She was granted a licensing deal with the NFL in late January after fans clamored to have a piece like Swift’s jacket.

“As much as I adore making these one-off pieces for these special people, I know that all I really want to do is dress these fans,” Juszczyk said. “And I’m only one girl, I can’t dress the whole stadium or else I’d be bleeding.”

Juszczyk’s designs landed so well with women because it can still be difficult to find sports apparel that doesn’t fall into the “shrink it and pink it” approach. The WNBA has turned to more third-party apparel companies in recent years for better, more unique offerings, but could still use help in merchandising and apparel.

No one will ever have a vest identical to Clark’s, but maybe down the road fans can buy a different type of piece to celebrate the woman who now holds the all-time college basketball scoring record, men’s or women’s.

“We’re not trying to pigeonhole ourselves to anything,” Juszczyk said. “So whether that’s NFL, NBA, WNBA, collegiate sports, Olympics, you know … the ideas are endless.”

The Indian Wells Masters is more than just a tennis tournament! While the 2024 edition of the tournament is just a few days away, they recently celebrated Family Day, giving kids an opportunity to play with professional tennis players. Recently, a lot of WTA and ATP stars, including Emma Raducanu, Grigor Dimitrov, and Alexander Zverev, were seen spending little moments of joy with the young tennis fans.

A lot of tennis players have already reached America to participate in one of the most popular tournaments, along with the four major tennis events. Before that competition, a lot of tennis stars enjoyed a lovely time with children on the occasion of Family Day.

Emma Raducanu and Alexander Zverev play tennis with kids
The Indian Wells Masters Arena, where players will show off their competitive edge in just a few days, is filled with smiles. As the event is celebrating Family Day, a lot of children came up to enjoy the special occasion and create a tennis memory with the popular tennis players.

Recently, the official Instagram account of the tournament shared a series of pictures from this special day. In one of the stories, the German tennis player was seen interacting with kids, and he also signed a kid’s headband while sharing a light-hearted moment with him.

On the other hand, 32-year-old tennis player Grigor Dimitrov was seen practicing tennis on the court with some kids. In addition, he was also seen hitting some slow shots for his young opponents, and they enjoyed playing tennis together.

Subsequently, even the WTA star, Raducanu, was seen doing the same. After hitting the court with some young tennis fans, she was seen greeting them with handshakes as the kids walked off the court. Not only that, there are a lot of tennis players who are also ready to give their 100% in the competition.

Swiatek and Sabalenka reach California for the big event
While the British tennis star has already reached California for the big event, the world’s number one-ranked tennis player, Iga Swiatek, recently took to her Instagram account to share her story of how she started her practice. Last year, the Polish tennis player faced defeat in the semi-final round itself. This year, she is ready to take revenge and show some good tennis.

On the other hand, the 2024 Australian Open champion reached a bit late, but shared her amazing feelings on how she was “happy to be back.” She shared a picture of herself from the court. Similar to Swiatek, Sabalenka lost the tournament’s final round last year, which prevented her from winning the Indian Wells title. However, this year, with her improved form and triumph at the Australian Open, things may be looking up for her.

Nevertheless, what are your thoughts on the lighthearted Family Day? Do let us know in the comments section below.

Anthony Joshua and Francis Ngannou have both put their thunderous power to the test for fun in recent years.

When a boxer appears on mainstream TV to measure their strength, they are usually not allowed to leave until they have used the famous ‘punch machine challenge’, especially when they’re a heavyweight champion.

2024-london-england-announce-upcoming-872240696.webp

AJ did not disappoint during an appearance on the Graham Norton show in 2017.

As soon as he saw the machine, he took his suit jacket off and strolled over to have a turn.

He graciously let fellow guests – actors Rachel Weisz, Martin Freeman and Greg Davies – go first.

They scored 182, 594 and 632 respectively before Joshua turned up and smashed it with his right hand.

He scored 848 – breaking the existing record of 787.

Ngannou took his turn on Gym Shark’s punch machine in London while carrying out his pre-fight media duties for the AJ clash.

This was on a separate machine and so their results are not directly comparable.

However, Ngannou barely threw his weight behind the shot and yet when he connected he effortlessly hit a maximum score of 999.

Ngannou uploaded a video to social media of his earth-shattering punch with the caption: “Who can beat my score?”

Back in 2018, Ngannou broke the world record for the hardest punch ever recorded at 129,161 units on a PowerKube, which measures the power of a punch by recording its force, accuracy and speed.

“Francis Ngannou has the world record for the most powerful punch, his punch is the equivalent to 96 horsepower which is equal to getting hit by a Ford Escort going as fast as it can,” UFC president Dana White said at the time.

“And it’s more powerful than a 12-pound sledgehammer swung full force from overhead. Holy sh*t!”

However, his record has since been broken by UFC middleweight Joe Pyfer, who landed a thudding shot that registered at 170,218 units – 31.7 per cent harder than Ngannou’s.

The true comparison of Joshua and Ngannou will of course ultimately come on March 8, when they meet in the boxing ring.

Meanwhile, the record on the punch machine at talkSPORT Towers was recently broken by an up-and-coming cruiserweight star.

Aloys Junior, Britain’s answer to Mike Tyson, demonstrated his raw power on a visit to our studios.

Junior hit a stunning score of 982 on the hanging bag to jump to pole position on our leaderboard ahead of heavy-handed heavyweight Johnny Fisher.

Ahead of the bout scheduled for April 20th, at the press conference in New York, Ryan Garcia made a spectacle, bantering with Devin Haney. Besides boldly expressing that he desired to stop the WBC Super-Lightweight champion with only his “right hand“, ‘KingRy’ promised to retire professionally given he was knocked out by ‘The Dream’ in the very first round of their fight. But, the boxing world raised an eyebrow when Haney alleged that Garcia arrived drunk at their press conference.

Infuriated by Devin’s allegation, Garcia claimed he would “drink beer” and still “beat the f**k out of” Haney. Soon, the situation was aggravated when Garcia later smoked w**d live on social media, claiming he was “high as f**k“. At this, while the boxing community questioned Garcia’s integrity, Claressa Shields, the undisputed Middleweight champion, reacted to Garcia’s antics.

Claressa Shields finds Ryan Garcia’s trash talk superfluous
At the New York press conference, Devin Haney claimed Garcia lacked the IQ, skills, and heart required to face ‘The Dream’. In addition to that, Haney referred to Garcia’s fight with Gervonta Davis. In the 7th round of their fight, Davis hit Garcia with a powerful body shot which led ‘KingRy’ to quit. Therefore, Haney said, “We’ve seen you take a knee, and it won’t be no different. When it gets hot, you quit.” However, Garcia claimed he would beat Haney up intoxicated.

At this, reacting to Garcia’s comments, Claressa Shields wrote, “Y’all i can’t breathe! Ryan said he drink & smoke weed!!!! this is the craziest press conference I’ve ever seen!” Anyway, even though Shields found Garcia’s banter with Haney entertaining, she thought Garcia was being over the top. Likewise, in a follow-up, Shields said, “I think the trash talk is too much for Ryan Garcia.”

In this context, it is worth mentioning that Shields is not the only person who feels Garcia crossed a line. In his latest interview with Fight Hub TV, even Caleb Plant implied that ‘KingRy’ was being carried away by his emotion. However, Garcia is scarcely bothered by Plant or Shields’ comments. As a result, the 25-year-old rode a horse to the LA press conference today to startle his fans more. Anyway, what do you make of Claressa’s reaction to Garcia’s trash talk? Do you find Garcia’s statements over the top too? Share your thoughts with us in the comments below.

The Olympic medalist is reflecting on the impact her late mother had on her success on the slopes

Lindsey Vonn is looking back on the impact her late mother had on her success as a skier.

During an appearance on an upcoming episode of Getting Grilled with Curtis Stone, which debuts March 3 on HSN+, the Olympic medalist reflects on the guilt she has always felt related to her mother Lindy Lund’s health.

“My mom had a stroke when she had me and she was permanently disabled,” Vonn, 39, tells Stone. “And she couldn’t run, she couldn’t ever ski with me, she couldn’t ride a bike, and so in my mind, I’m sitting here thinking I’m doing what I love to do.”

She continues, “My mother can’t, so why should I sit here and be Debbie Downer? I need to get my a– back in the gym and back to the slopes and continue to do what I love to do and utilize that opportunity I’ve been given.”

Vonn says that she has always viewed her mother — who was an “amazing athlete” before suffering the stroke — as an inspiration and that she has an “obligation” to achieve her best.

“It is something that is hard for me to process because I always felt really guilty,” Vonn tells the chef and TV personality when asked how her mother’s health drove the athlete. “My mom — having me, hurt my mother and so that was a really hard thing for me to take on and I always felt guilty.”

She continues, “It’s hard that she’s not here. It’s still something I feel so guilty about, but I think it drove me and it helped me and she wouldn’t want it any other way.”

Lund died in August 2022, one year after being diagnosed with ALS.

Amid her battle with the disease, Vonn penned an emotional tribute to her mother and her fight, one month before she died.

“Since having a stroke while giving birth to me, my Mom has been the picture of strength and more specifically, resilience,” the four-time Olympic skier wrote alongside a gallery of pictures of herself and Lund.

Vonn added, “She has always given me the will to keep fighting back whenever I had an injury or obstacle in skiing and in life. Now she is exuding that resilience more than ever before.”

In addition to talking about her mom, Vonn recounts the peaks, valleys and highlights of her career, from winning Olympic gold to undergoing knee surgeries. Plus, the two head into the kitchen to make one of the skier’s favorite foods.

The celebrated Olympian just returned from a Hawaiian vacation with Jonathan Owens

Simone Biles may just have returned from her glorious waterfront vacation to Hawaii with husband Jonathan Owens, but her memories are still basking in the sun and sand.

Simone Biles attends the 6th Annual InStyle Awards on November 15, 2021 in Los Angeles, California.

The celebrated gymnast, 26, took to her Instagram with a pair of outtakes from her beautiful trip with her husband, wowing fans with more bikini photos.

Simone looked absolutely incredible posing in front of a surfboard in a neon pink string bikini with an ombre pattern that transformed into orange and yellow hues.

The couple also attended a friend’s wedding during their time in the Aloha state, although the decorated Olympian continued impressing fans with more swimsuit snaps.

Another pair she posted earlier left fans stunned, as she reclined against her beach backdrop in a tiny yellow ruffled string bikini that displayed her athletic physique and extremely toned legs (and she even made sure to point her toes).

Simone covered up her face with a straw cowboy hat and dropped a Beyoncé reference with her caption, joking: “This ain’t Texas.”

While in Hawaii, the elite athlete received some good news – she was one of the selected nominees for the Laureus World Sports Awards honoring 2023 achievements.

The awards will be handed out at a show on April 22 in Madrid, and some of the other American nominees include Mikaela Shiffrin, Noah Lyles, and Sha’Carri Richardson.

The gymnast has previously won Sportswoman of the Year thrice at the awards, and is nominated this year for “Comeback of the Year” for her triumphant showing at the World Championships this October (where she won four golds and one silver) following nearly two years away from the sport after the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Simone reacted to the news on her Instagram Stories, writing: “I’m always speechless about these nominations. My sincerest gratitude for everyone who has supported me & continues to support my journey & dream.”

Her return to the sport began in August when she competed at the U.S. Classic and reached a fever pitch with her performance at Worlds this October.

She won her sixth all-around gold medal, thereby becoming the most successful gymnast of all time in Olympics and World Championships. She also won medals in Teams, Floor, and Balance Beam, while winning a silver for Vault.

Her return to competitive gymnastics came just months after her wedding to her NFL star husband, 28, in Houston last April, followed by a grander ceremony in Mexico in May, immediately after which he departed to begin training with his new team, the Green Bay Packers.

Tyson Fury won’t be withdrawing from his fight with Oleksandr Usyk, his father has claimed.

And that’s a blow for Anthony Joshua, with the Briton’s promoter Eddie Hearn recently admitting he was prepared to step in should the showdown suffer any further setbacks.

Fury and Usyk had been due to meet in the ring earlier this month, only for a gruesome eye injury sustained by the 35-year-old to push the fight back to May instead.

Hearn recently revealed Joshua was ready to step in in the event of another postponement.

Boxing news Tyson Fury

But John, speaking to Free Bets, has claimed that won’t be happening with his son committed to the cause.

Previewing Joshua’s upcoming bout with Francis Ngannou, which will take place on March 8, he said: “He’s got to get past Ngannou first which is a tall order.

“He’s a danger man Ngannou, a big dude, fit, strong, and believes in himself.

“He is able, he’s in your face, doesn’t mind a tear up. Joshua has to get past him before he even thinks about stepping in for anybody else.

“And he’s lost to Usyk twice already and if you’ve lost twice, is there going to be that much interest in a third fight?

“It’s only going to be the same thing: Usyk outpointing him.

“People want to see Tyson vs Usyk and Tyson will not be pulling out. I’ll tell you that now.”

John has been called out by numerous stars over the past few weeks.

The likes of Carl Froch, Joe Egan and Chase Demoor have all revealed they’d fancy their chances of facing the 59-year-old.

But John isn’t interested and believes the trio are mentioning his name, as well as Tyson’s, with their own agendas in mind.

“A lot of people have been talking, shouting, screaming, but yet there’s no genuine, written offers have come to my address or to my people,” he said.

“So, listen, they can all shout, they can all scream, but actions speak louder than words. Put the money across, it’s a business and let’s get on with it.

“But they don’t seem to want to do that. They seem to just want to shout and scream, calling me out, trying to embarrass me, which they can’t do.

“They could never embarrass a man like me, because I’ve been through too much.

“To clarify, there have been no written offers, it’s just talk, it’s just nothing, idle chat.”

He added: “It’s nothing new and it’s a good point – that’s what they do.

“They think by mentioning me and people paying them a few hundred quid to run a podcast to run me down, ‘Oh, I want to fight John Fury’, ‘I think this, I think that’, you know what, thinking has caused people a lot of problems in life.

“Thinking and doing are two different things and people don’t seem to understand that today do they?

“But you know what, all those people who think they’re hard men, all of them calling me out hear this…

“The way they’ve gone about it is unprofessional, so therefore it’s caused me to have an instant dislike for these people. Therefore, why would I want to make them any money?

“What they can do, I’ve got a nice barn at the side of me, all of them that think that I’m bothered about fighting, come down.

“Me and him will walk in the barn and the best man will come out, just me and him.

“We’ll shut the door, we’ll lock ourselves in and the best man will come out of the barn.

“There’s no money, there’s no fame, there’s nothing but a good hiding for them kinds of people.

“That’s if they think they can take me, and I’m telling you they can’t.”

Coco Gauff exited the Dubai Tennis Championships in the quarterfinal, losing out to Anna Kalinskaya 6-2, 4-6, 2-6. The youngster was one of the favorites to win the contest, but came up short against an inspired opponent.

A year ago, a loss like that would have taken a much bigger toll on Gauff mentally. She, however, has learnt to deal with the situations as she mentioned in her press conference after her Round of 16 win against Karolina Pliskova.

Gauff was asked whether being a Grand Slam champion puts her under the spotlight and makes her an easy target for criticism.

The youngster responded by saying that people are quick to criticize her after a loss, with many suggesting that she give up on off-court activities like photoshoots and other commitments.

Gauff, however, dismissed the views by saying she knows her priorities and makes room for non-tennis activities only after putting in adequate hours on the court.

“A lot of people like to criticize that,” Coco Gauff said. “A lot of people like to say, maybe if I lose they’ll say, She needs to focus on her tennis instead of doing this, doing even shoots and stuff.”

“I always contemplated having A Day in My Life so people could see what I’m doing. I’m practicing three or four hours in the morning, then doing the shoot,” she added.

Gauff reiterated that tennis was her top priority, but maintained that she has a life outside of the sport as well.

“Obviously tennis is the main priority. Once I step off the court, I’m a person. I’m not hitting strokes while I’m eating food and everything. I’m actually thinking,” Coco Gauff said.

“I’m a person. I have opinions. I have thoughts. I feel like I have a responsibility with the platform tennis has given me to not use it in vain, so yeah.” she added.

“They like to bring my age into it” – Coco Gauff on people passing judgements on her opinions

Coco Gauff at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships.Coco Gauff said she’s found herself at the receiving end of people’s judgement far too often, noting that people like to use her age against her.

The youngster, however, added that her intelligence was not related to age, but came with perspective.

“Yeah, I mean, a lot of people, every time I say anything, a lot of people, especially they like to bring my age into it a lot,” Coco Gauff said. “If anything in this world, age I feel like doesn’t mean a lot.”

“There’s intelligent older people, intelligent young people. There are dumb older people, dumb younger people. It’s all in perspective,” she added.

Last August, Bridges and the Irishman attracted notable scrutiny for their ringside snapshots during the Anthony Joshua vs. Robert Helenius boxing bout, leading to fan conjecture about their connection.

Bridges was one of the models endorsing McGregor’s widely-discussed beverage, Forged Irish Stout, during the event. She subsequently revealed that ‘The Notorious’ had officially sponsored her to promote the stout.

When Ebanie Bridges opened up about her team-up with Conor McGregor
Ebanie Bridges discussed her enduring friendship with Conor McGregor, highlighting that ‘The Notorious’ has consistently provided support throughout her boxing pursuits.

In an interview with Boxing King Media in August 2023, Bridges emphasized that her relationship with the UFC fighter is strictly professional. She underscored McGregor’s prowess as a shrewd entrepreneur, particularly his effective promotion of products, as a key factor in their collaboration:

He reached out to me and said, ‘Hey, you wanna be part of the team and be part of the Forged army and partner up with me,’ and help promote his stout. So what better way to promote than to get pictures with the ‘Blonde Bomber’ at an Anthony Joshua fight, wearing your gear? And it worked, didn’t it? Because we’ve broken the internet again and everyone’s talking about it… It’s just business.”

She added:

“You think Conor McGregor would be with me in public, doing everything that we’re doing, like getting me to be a part of his forged Army team if his fiancee had a problem with it, these people who sit at home, know nothing about show business, no nothing about celebrity and what it’s like to be famous, you have to have very very thick skin to one be a celebrity and be in a relationship with a celebrity, and she gets it.”
