The loss of his assistant, Kitchie, changed Floyd forever

Floyd Mayweather was undefeated in his boxing career, but he faced one huge loss outside the ring that he couldn’t overcome.

It has been less than a year since Floyd lost his personal assistant, Marikit ‘Kitchie’ Laurico, but the pain still troubles him, as he shared in a tear-jerking personal interview with The Pivot Podcast.

Mayweather remembers dead assistant Kitchie
When asked how the losses of people he loved affected him, the 46-year-old initially said “we don’t wanna talk about that” before gathering himself and saying “we’re gonna get through this.”

A lonely tear rolled down Floyd’s left cheek as he began to remember his best friend Kitchie, who knew him better than anyone else. She passed away unexpectedly in March 2023.

“People really wouldn’t understand that people like your drivers and your assistants are your best friend,” he said to Pivot hosts Ryan Clark and Channing Crowder, who were also moved to tears by his vulnerability.

“Kitchie was the only person in life that I could talk about anything to. That knew my deepest secrets.”

Mayweather’s reflections revealed the side of fame that is not understood by many people who don’t live it. It is hard to trust people, even family members and partners. The assistant that he spent every day with was a sanctuary for the 15-time world champ.

Fans react to seeing new side of Floyd Mayweather
The emotional interview came as a shock to many fans, who had never seen that side of Mayweather, who is more widely known for his cocky attitude and flashy displays of wealth.

“First time seeing seeing Floyd this vulnerable,” said a user on Twitter/X.

“Need more raw content like this instead of everyone trying to be a fake gangsta,” another fan commented under the interview.

Djokovic is flying the friendly skies with Nadal, and fans can hardly believe it

By now, tennis fans have seen or heard that Novak Djokovic posted a selfie with Rafael Nada on social media. The two were not practicing on a tennis court or strolling the grounds of a tennis facility. Instead, they were in the same airplane together traveling to California to prepare for Indian Wells.

How crazy is it that two of the greatest tennis players of all time are on the same commercial flight to the US? And by the way, shouldn’t Nadal be headed to Las Vegas first for the Netflix Slam against Carlos Alcaraz happening days before Indian Wells if Alcaraz is healthy?

Fans had plenty of humorous reactions to this odd coincidence. They took to social media to share them.

What fans said about the Djokovic and Nadal selfie
The first concern was about Roger Federer. While Fed is traveling in Thailand enjoying the fruits of retirement, Rafa is posing for airplane selfies with Novak. The Big 3 are perceived not to be close friends, but Roger and Rafa are friendlier with one another than either seems to be with Djokovic. Second, fans wondered what other passengers thought when they saw these two on their flight. Did people ask for autographs? Or did they ask for tips on their game?

Others wondered if this is the only type of sighting we will see of the pair this year. Is it possible they will not face each other on a tennis court? It is an unsettling thought that Nadal prepared us for, indicating that he may not be competitive in Grand Slams.

It is a testament to what Djokovic and Nadal have meant to the game for two decades that this type of selfie creates a reaction. Fans love these players even more so after all these years.

Lindsey Vonn recently returned to Vancouver for the first time after the 2010 Winter Olympics. Coming back to Whistler after over a decade led to a moment of nostalgia for the former Alpine skiing star.

Audi FIS World Cup - Women

The American made her World Cup debut at the age of 16. She participated in the World Cup held in Park City, Utah, in November 2000 as part of the United States Alpine skiing team.

In 2018, Lindsey announced that she would be retiring after the 2019 season. The 2019 World Championships, held in Sweden, was her final campaign as a professional skier. She bid farewell to the sport with a bronze medal in the women’s downhill event.

Post her retirement from the sport, Vonn has been very active on her social media handles. She shares regular updates on her life as well as interacts with her fans. Moreover, she is seen at many sporting events and was recently spotted at the Superbowl.

Lindsey Vonn took to X (formerly Twitter) to reveal a moment of nostalgia for her fans. She was back in Whistler, a resort in British Columbia. This was the first time she returned there after the Vancouver Winter Olympics in 2010.

While mentioning the ‘amazing’ times she spent there in the past, a moment of realization came to Vonn that it had been 14 years since she last visited the place.

First time back to Whistler since the Olympics in 2010! Was amazing to be there but man, time flies!!,” she wrote.

A brief look into Lindsey Vonn’s career

Lindsey Vonn’s father was a former national junior title winning skier, due to which she had the opportunity to get into the sport pretty early on. However, Lindsey was taught to ski by her grandfather.

Lindsey made her skiing World Cup debut at the age of 16 and marched on to the Olympics, debuting there at the age of 17 at the 2002 Winter Olympics, where she competed in the slalom and combined.

The 39-year-old won her first major race at the World Championships in 2007, held in Are, Sweden. The following year, she went on to win the overall title at the 2008 World Cup, becoming the second American woman to achieve this feat.

Vonn continued her momentum in the 2009 season as well, winning the overall title at the World Cup. She clinched her first World Championship title in 2009, registering her name in the history books by becoming the first American woman to win a super-G title.

Over the years, Lindsey put forward stellar performances and went on to achieve feats to be among the greats of the sport. Throughout her career, she clinched four overall World Cup titles, of which three were consecutive (2008-10, 2012).

Tiger Woods’ son, Charlie, is certainly growing up as he prepares to become a professional golfer but another indicator happened in a different way as a grandmother attempted to set him up on a date with her granddaughter.

The teenager is currently competing in a pre-qualifying round for the Cognizant Classic and shot 16-over 86 at the Lost Lake Golf Club in Florida, not far away from where his father regularly practices in Jupiter, FL.

It’s believed that the senior woman pulled her granddaughter out of school so they could attend the golf event in the hope that he would “notice her” and become enamored at first sight and take her out on a date.

How did the fans interrupt him?
But as Woods attempted to qualify for his first ever PGA Tour event, a crowd member disrupted his flow. In fact, the crowd regularly interrupted him even though his father wasn’t present, as everyone ones to get a big closer to Tiger Woods.

To summarize how the atmosphere was, as he walked off from a hole, he said to his caddie, Jacob “JJ” Kutner, “That was some round, huh?”

One fan interrupted him by rushing to him with a pen and with a copy of How I Play Golf, the book written by his father, to get it signed but an official dismissed the request to do so.

Nonetheless, he should qualify for any PGA Tour pre-qualifier as Charlie Woods holds a +3 handicap index with the Florida State Golf Association although he didn’t manage to do so this time with the 50 crowd members no doubt putting him off.

That means it hasn’t been a good week for the Woods’ as his father pulled out of the Genesis Invitational recently due to suffering from flu-like symptoms and an undisclosed illness as he attempts to return to the big time.

Rafael Nadal once opened up about dealing with the pressure of heightened expectations early in his career, stemming from his extraordinary success as a teenager.

Nadal won his maiden ATP title at the 2004 Prokom Open at just 18 years old. This was followed by a prolific 2005 season, where he amassed 11 tour-level titles, including his maiden Grand Slam title at the French Open.

The Spaniard’s success continued into 2006, as he secured five ATP titles, successfully defending his Roland Garros title and triumphing at the Masters 1000 events in Monte-Carlo and Rome. However, despite emerging victorious at the Stuttgart Open after the claycourt Major, he concluded the year without any more titles.

As the 2007 season commenced, there was considerable anticipation for Rafael Nadal’s resurgence. After failing to claim victory at the Australian Open and Dubai Tennis Championships, he entered the Pacific Life Open (now known as the Indian Wells Masters) on the hunt for his first title of the season.

During his campaign at the Masters 1000 event, the Spaniard candidly discussed the weight of expectations, acknowledging the relentless pressure to win every tournament despite being only 20 years old. He also emphasized his desire to simply enjoy his tennis career without the burden of additional demands.

Well, sometimes the people forget I have [am] 20 years old. That’s true. I have 17 titles in two years. That’s true. But well, I need always little bit more time playing without this pressure in every tournament,” he said in a press conference.

You need to win. Well, I try my best always, but I know I — I can lose every match. I can win every one. But that’s it. I just want to play, enjoy the — my career. I enjoy the tennis because I love play with — play with little bit pressure, with the competition, and I don’t want more pressure than I really have already,” he added.

Moreover, Nadal underlined his primary focus on making improvements and becoming the best player he could be, with the ultimate goal of becoming the World No. 1.

Because I enjoy playing tennis and I just have to again improve my tennis. I can’t stop. And sometimes when you are improving, it’s not easy to win. I just want to — I’m trying to be best player every year, and sometimes, especially, my goal is be prepared if any day I have the chance to be No. 1,” he said.

Rafael Nadal entered the 2007 Pacific Life Open as the second seed, kicking off his campaign with a 6-3, 7-6(3) win over Arnaud Clement in the second round after receiving a bye in the opening round.

Subsequently, the Spaniard defeated Fernando Verdasco 6-4, 6-4 and claimed a dominant 6-1, 6-1 win over Juan Carlos Ferrero. He advanced to the semifinals by beating Juan Ignacio Chela 7-5, 7-5.

Nadal then triumphed over third seed Andy Roddick 6-4, 6-3 to set up a blockbuster final against Novak Djokovic. The Spaniard defeated Djokovic 6-2, 7-5 to clinch his first title of the year.

What’s the one piece of advice you would like to give to your younger self? Think a little, take your time. In the meantime, let’s have a look at what the British tennis star Emma Raducanu has to say about this question.

Emma Raducanu recently spoke to Bazaar’s Digital Beauty director, Bridget March, during an interview. Raducanu revealed that she’d have loved to tell her younger self that it’s okay to say ‘no’ and prioritise what’s best for herself. What else did she say?

What’s that one piece of advice that Emma Raducanu has for her younger self?
The 21-year-old British tennis beauty has already become one of the world’s most famous tennis players. But with popularity comes an added pressure. A pressure to keep performing and stay fit all the time. But that doesn’t happen all the time in the world of sports and often players receive severe criticism due to their poor performances. Emma Raducanu has been facing the same since her heroics at the 2021 US Open.

Raducanu has never reached the third round of any major tournament after that. She has even failed to win any titles. But if we look back a little, Raducanu started playing tennis at the age of 5 and became the youngest-ever winner of an ITF U-18 tournament at the age of just 13. So expectations were always higher right from her initial days. She recently said, “I’d tell my younger self that it’s OK to say ‘no’ and prioritise what feels best for myself, especially in the hours ‘off’.”

In a rush of events, people often forget to think about themselves. She added, “Regardless of others’ perceptions, deep down we know when we are doing something truly for ourselves or rather because we feel we ought to.”

Talking about her childhood, she had once said how shy she was and didn’t talk much at all. The 21-year-old British tennis star had revealed how tennis helped her to build the fearless character that we see in herself often these days on the court.

Raducanu reveals her sad childhood experiences
Two years ago, Emma Rducanu made a bizarre confession to Grazia Magazine, saying, “I’ve never gone out. I’ve never done any normal teenage things. Between training and the travel, [the lifestyle] takes some getting used to. But I like to be on my own and it’s always about the bigger picture.”

However, she believes sports have brought enormous changes in her personality as well as her mentality. She said, “And through playing sport, and having to be bold on the court and fearless and fight, it’s given me inner strength. If you have that, then you can really achieve whatever you want.”

Her recent shocking exit from the Qatar Open at the hands of number 32 from Ukraine, Anhelina Kalinina has drawn in several criticisms. She lost to the Ukrainian by 6-0,7-6(6) in the first round of the tournament. Nothing is going right for the former world number 10 at the moment.

Amid all these, she recently posted a cryptic post quoting a few lines from the movie ‘Ratatouille’ on her Instagram story. That was perhaps a message to her critics. But anyway, now tell us what’s the one piece of advice you would love to give to your younger self?

The seven-time world champion admits he has never been to Maranello, nor has he spoken Italian since his youth

Sir Lewis Hamilton spoke for the first time today about his planned move to Ferrari in 2025, and, more importantly, his change of heart after renewing his two-year deal with Mercedes just a few months ago.

Lewis Hamilton

“In the summer we signed and obviously I, at the time, saw my future with Mercedes. But an opportunity came up in the new year and I decided to take it,” he told the press in Bahrain.

“It was the hardest decision I have ever had to make in my life after 26 years of Mercedes supporting me and we’ve had this absolutely incredible journey together. We’ve made history and it’s something I’m very proud of.

“But I think ultimately I’m writing my story and I felt it was time to start a new chapter.”

What does Hamilton hope to achieve with Ferrari?
Although Fernando Alonso wryly underlined his surprise at Lewis’ change of allegiance from Mercedes ambassador to ‘Ferrarista’, Hamilton has been a fan of the Italian team since he was a boy.

“Of course, I think for all drivers growing up, looking at history, they see Michael Schumacher at his best…. Definitely, even as a kid, I used to play Michael in that car, so it’s definitely a dream and I’m very, very excited about it,” he continued.

“I think we probably all sit in our garage and see the screen come up and you see the driver in the red cockpit and you wonder what it would be like to be surrounded by red.

“You go to the Italian Grand Prix and you see the tifosi and it just blows you away.”

Lewis knows he is coming to try and break the 17-year championship drought that has plagued Maranello, but he is ready for the challenge.

“It’s a team that hasn’t had much success recently, since 2007, and I saw it as a big challenge. I’ve had a great relationship and communication with Fred Vasseur since we raced together in F3 and GP2, and I think this really wouldn’t have happened without him, so I’m very grateful and very excited about the work he’s doing there,” Hamilton concluded.

“When he joined Ferrari, I was happy for him and I think the stars aligned.”

Charlie Woods can do with a lot fewer eyes on him. None other than Paige Spiranac, the celebrity influencer, feels so. The 30-year-old golf beauty took to X (formerly Twitter) to express her dissatisfaction toward the golf community after the younger Woods failed in his bid to qualify for a PGA Tour event. But the matter was made worse because of an undue amount of attention lavished on the 15-year-old.

Spiranac feels the golf world needs to cut him some slack. “How about we let Charlie Woods develop his game without constant media coverage. Golf is mentally challenging enough without all the added eyeballs on him and pressure.” Woods Jr. carded 16-over 86 in the first round of the pre-qualifier for the Cognizant Classic (earlier known as the Honda Classic) in Hobe Sound, Florida. The top five players and ties advanced to the Monday qualifying round of the tournament.

The 15-year-old, who has regularly appeared with his father, Tiger Woods, at the PNC Championship, started his round with an 11-over 47 in the front nine. But a costly 12 on the par-4 seventh hole sealed his fate. Although Charlie Woods made 11 pars, that wasn’t enough to save the day, which also included 2 bogeys and a double bogey on the back nine.

His round was closely monitored, with every shot being put under the scanner on social media. Paige Spiranac feels it’s not right to put that much pressure on a 15-year-old golfer, especially when it was technically a qualifier for a qualifier event, and stated, “It was a pre qualifier for the Monday qualifier. A lot of juniors play in pre quals and Mondays for experience. It’s not uncommon at all.”

Teenage Woods’ swing was a matter of much debate, considering how closely it resembles his father’s. Moreover, Woods Jr. bombed a 300-yard drive at the 2023 PNC Championship and has been winning silverware for his school as well. All that led to huge anticipation around Charlie Woods. “Don’t compare him to me,” said Tiger Woods on an episode of Another Golf Podcast. “He’s not me, he’s Charlie, okay? He’s going to be his own person. Whatever road he goes down, he’s going to go down his own road, and he’s going to create his own path.”

The 15-time Major champion may have made this clear. However, carrying the Woods name and being in the spotlight, with every move he makes being scrutinized, is something Charlie might just have to live with. So, after Paige Spiranac expressed her thoughts on the treatment Charlie Woods is getting, another user compared his situation to Gary Nicklaus.

“For Tiger Woods’ son to attempt a career as a professional golfer is fraught with unfair comparisons and a virtually impossible mountain to climb… Just ask Gary Nicklaus,” they wrote. Notably, it wasn’t just the media coverage that Woods Jr. had to battle, as on-ground reports revealed an ugly show from the spectators.

Unruly fans add to Charlie Woods’ woes
First off, Tiger Woods wasn’t there; the 15-time Major champion recently withdrew from the Genesis Invitational – a tournament he hosts – with the flu that later turned out to be influenza. Mother Elin Nordegren was present, though. With all the attention Charlie’s getting, there were around 50 fans tagging the 15-year-old, completely disregarding requests from field marshals. The Palm Beach Post reported that one fan even retorted, “Who are you? The fire marshal?”

There was no dearth of autograph hunters as well, with some taking Tiger Woods’ book to get a sign from his son. This isn’t an uncommon occurrence, though – people wanting his autograph, that is. Earlier, his school coach also revealed that the 15-year-old draws a huge crowd whenever news of him teeing up gets out. But this time, only one of his friends and two security details were there to protect him instead of his entire Benjamin School team. Nevertheless, Woods Jr. maintained a graceful appearance that would perhaps get a pat from Paige Spiranac.

Lexi Thompson is having a mellow 2024 season. She has competed only in the LPGA Drive-On Championship this year. At the event, she earned $21,585 from her 16th finish. With her not taking part in many events, naturally, fans will be curious to know where she is spending her time and with whom!

The American golfer did give a glimpse of her off-the-course adventures to her fans via her social media. But another thing fans would be interested to know is the love life of the LPGA star. Is the 29-year-old dating someone? Is she married?

Is Lexi Thompson secretly married?
The American golfer celebrated her 29th birthday on February 10. She had a unique way of celebrating her birthday as she accepted the role of being the godmother of her nephew, Maverick Cole Thompson. But with this acceptance came speculations about the love interest of the LPGA star.

To all the golf fans wondering, Lexi Thompson is not dating anyone and is currently single. The LPGA Tour player has been secretive about her love life from the start, and there is no publicly available information about it. So nothing is known about her current or previous dating history.

But fans can say the 29-year-old has been in love with golf since the start. And this love runs in her whole family! Along with the LPGA star, her two brothers, Nicholas Thompson and Curtis Thompson, are also pro-golfers. They both have played on the PGA Tour. She shares a strong connection with her siblings.

Her brothers have time and again taken care of her purse in her career. She loves spending time with her nephew. Before leaving for the Aramco Saudi Ladies International on February 15, she spent time with Maverick. She shared this information with the caption, “I went to see Little Mav before I left the country.” Apart from strong family ties, some other reasons such as her love for golf may point out why the LPGA star is too busy for a love life.

Praise-worthy achievements of Lexi Thompson’s illustrious career
While there is zero information about Lexi Thompson’s love life, her golfing career shines brighter than all. She is one of the few players who are considered to be child prodigies. At the age of 12, she qualified for the US Women’s Open, becoming the youngest player ever to do so. Lucy Li later broke this record in 2014.

Looking at her budding career in golf, she began home-schooling to focus all her attention on the sport. This move made a huge impact on her career, as she broke the record for the youngest winner on the LPGA Tour by winning the Navistar LPGA Classic. This record was broken by Lydia Ko after 11 months.

Following her Navistar LPGA Classic win, she won the Dubai Ladies Masters. This made her the second-youngest player to win on the Ladies European Tour. The American star also became the seventh women ever to compete on the PGA Tour event. Notably, now she will be going head-to-head with the likes of Rory McIlroy, Max Homa, and Rose Zhang in an exhibition event called The Match 2024.

While her golf career is the highlight of her life, other areas of her life show Lexi Thompson is a strong, independent woman.

The LPGA star leads a life filled with charity work
Another aspect of the female golfer that shines brighter than her love life is her passion for doing charity. She has aligned herself with many causes, like breast cancer and veteran support, promoting charities for the same. In January 2024, she took part in a panel from the Morgan Pressel Foundation to raise awareness about breast cancer.

Furthermore, she is also part of the Caddy for a Cure mission along with Rickie Fowler, Phil Mickelson, and many more. She also regularly helps out charities like the CVS Health Charity Classic and the Michael Phelps Foundation. From making millions on the golf course, coupled with sponsorships from Bridgestone, Puma, Rock-Tenn, Rolex, and Volkswagen Group, the American golfer does not forget to give back to the community.

While not much is known about her love life, other areas of her life do serve as inspiration to others. What are your thoughts on the heartwarming career of Lexi Thompson? Let us know in the comments section below.
