Ben Shelton is set to become the highest-ranked American on the ATP tour next week. For someone who has only played full seasons of tennis for the last couple of years, Shelton’s ranking rise is extremely impressive. But he has earned his way to near the top with a massive serve, good athleticism, and a growing knowledge of how to play points better.

Until recently, though, Shelton, like almost all Americans, had not shown he could be a danger on clay. His game should not really translate nearly as well to that surface as it might to the grass of Wimbledon. Clay slows the pace of Shelton’s best shots and takes away his greatest power. To be successful on clay, Shelton will need to adapt.

For one tournament, at least. Shelton was able to do that. He won the clay-court Houston Open recently by defeating fellow American Frances Tiafoe. Before anyone gets too excited, though, the ATP 250 event did not exactly draw the biggest and best of clay-court specialists. Most of the better European players were preparing for the Monte-Carlo Masters which Shelton did not participate in.

Ben Shelton: "Roger Federer congratulated me on my victories"

Ben Shelton could succeed where other Americans do not and Carlos Alcaraz needs to be more like Roger Federer
But gaining the confidence from winning in Houston is only going to help Shelton in the future. For the American (or any American, really, because the group has not been at all successful in high-level clay-court tournaments in nearly two decades), it simply comes down to the belief he can win on clay. According to former Wimbledon doubles champion Frederik Løchte Nielsen, Shelton should begin thinking he can improve further on his career 6-7 record on clay. He was 2-7 entering the Houston Open.

Nielsen told the Vegas Insider, “…Ben Shelton seems much more capable of it, and he delivers a full effort in every match…I absolutely believe he can make a really good run in many tournaments – including Roland Garros. I also feel that he has to work hard for it because he still needs to get used to traveling a lot. He won the tournament in Houston, where it’s still American conditions with American balls, which are much faster.”

Ben Shelton turns pro; to be managed by Federer's TEAM8

One player already capable of winning on clay and reaching No. 1 on the ATP tour is Carlos Alcaraz. But the Spaniard could get even better if he improves certain parts of his game. Possibly becoming slightly less aggressive would help, but making his serve more of a weapon would also make him a better player. According to top tennis commentator Rennae Stubbs, Alcaraz needs to be a bit more like Roger Federer in that regard.

Speaking on her excellent program, Racquet’s Rennae Stubbs Tennis Podcast, Stubbs comapred the size and ability of Alcaraz and Federer and pointed out that neither are extremely tall and that both could have the same leverage and ability to place their serve. Alcaraz simply has not developed that part of his game to come close to the Swiss great yet.

Ben Shelton Chooses Roger Federer As Favorite Player Among The Big Three | Yardbarker

Stubbs said, “Carlos is not tall, neither was Roger Federer. Roger’s what, 6’1? He’s slightly taller than Carlos Alcaraz but very similar in height. But Roger was an amazing spot server…So when you’re talking about two guys of the same height, Roger and Carlos, Carlos’ spots are nowhere near as good…That is one area he can improve on and that’s how he’ll win more on a fast court.”

Casper Ruud finally got the better of Novak Djokovic, beating the top-ranked Serb 6-4, 1-6, 6-4 on Saturday to set up a Monte Carlo Masters final against two-time champion Stefanos Tsitsipas.

Tsitsipas won the earlier semifinal against a tiring Jannik Sinner 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 to hand the Australian Open champion only his second defeat of the season.

Djokovic double-faulted on match point in his first career defeat in six matches against Ruud. The Norwegian player had never taken a set off Djokovic before, including at last year’s French Open final.

Djokovic trailed 4-1 in the deciding set but held his next serve and broke a nervous-looking Ruud’s serve to love to pull back to 4-3.

At 15-15 in the eighth game, Djokovic turned and shouted an expletive toward someone in the crowd. Chair umpire Mohamed Lahyani urged fans not to call out during a rally and did not issue a verbal warning to Djokovic despite the audible expletive, which was followed by an angry glare.

A sloppy 10th game in the deciding set saw Djokovic trailing love-40 on serve, and the eighth-seeded Ruud received the victory on his third match point.

Ruud and the 12th-seeded Tsitsipas are chasing their first titles of the year and 11th overall.

The record 24-time men’s Grand Slam champion Djokovic still hasn’t won a title this year and remains on 98 in his glittering career.

Sinner, who has three titles in 2024, looked in control in the deciding set when he led Tsitsipas 4-3 with a service game to follow. But he called for a medical timeout during the changeover, and a trainer massaged his right knee and thigh. Although a smiling Sinner shared a joke with the trainer, things got more serious in the next game when Tsitsipas broke his serve at the fifth attempt to level the score.

At the end of the next game, Sinner limped a little and clutched the hamstring area of his left leg then had both legs massaged. His movement was restricted in the ensuing game, and Tsitsipas clinched victory on his first match point when Sinner’s backhand from the back of the court went long as he struggled for balance.

“He is one of the toughest opponents I have faced so far, and to find ways when there weren’t that many, I am proud of that,” Tsitsipas said.

American actress Zendaya, British actor Josh O’Connor and other cast members from the tennis movie “Challengers” were among the crowd enjoying the sunshine at Monte Carlo Country Club. Italian fans crossing the nearby border made Sinner feel at home, but Tsitsipas enjoyed strong support after winning the tournament in 2021 and 2022.

Tsitsipas broke Sinner and held for 3-1 in a commanding first set where he used angles well to disrupt Sinner’s more rhythmical play.

The level of intensity from both players increased in the second set. A long ninth game lasting 13 minutes saw the second-seeded Sinner save five break points before holding to level the match.

Casper Ruud takes a step closer to his first ATP title

He broke Tsitsipas in the first game of the deciding set and held easily.

At this point, another final looked increasingly certain. Sinner was enjoying himself and smiled to his coaching team after winning one point with an audacious sliced drop shot in the fifth game.

But Tsitsipas, who took Djokovic to five sets in the French Open final in 2021, showed trademark endurance and clawed his way back as Sinner started fading.

Vettel decision timeline revealed after F1 return rumors

Sebastian Vettel is set to decide in the coming ‘days and weeks’ about a potential return to F1, according to reports.

It’s just two years since Vettel called it a day and retired from F1, but the German has been linked with a sensational return.

Vettel is believed to be a possible candidate to replace Lewis Hamilton at Mercedes, after the German constructor missed out on Fernando Alonso, who is signing a contract extension at Aston Martin.

The four-time world champion has also been rumored to be of interest to Porsche’s World Endurance team as well, and their head of operations has teased his decision could be imminent.

Speaking to Motorsport-Total.com: “We have read in the media that he is in talks with several people. But we only know that he has not yet decided what he will do.

“We also do not know if he will run again, where and when. That will be known in the coming days or weeks.

“So we also don’t know if he will race with us in the future.”

Former F1 ace warns against growing street circuit expansion
Former F1 champion Mario Andretti has voiced his concern about the growing number of street circuits on the calendar.

Speaking to Sports Illustrated, Andretti said: “I think we have to be very careful to keep the traditional circuits that have made Formula One what it is today, and not ever forget that. Many of these traditional circuits like Silverstone have upgraded to the standards that you expect.

“And again, I’m one of those individuals that value so much where we came from and let’s not ever forget that.

“It’s fine to go forward and bring on new things, but never forget where we came from. So in my opinion, nothing will substitute Silverstone at the moment in England. ”

Full 2025 schedule confirmed by FIA
Elsewhere in the 2025 schedule, it’s a return to Australia for the opening race of the season, while the USA maintains its three-race status.

The British GP remains in its usual mid-summer spot, while the season concludes in the UAE on December 7th.

Lewis Hamilton’s dream already slashed for first season in Ferrari car
Lewis Hamilton’s first season as a Ferrari driver won’t include a dream visit to Africa for the 2025 F1 season.

The continent has once again been snubbed on the calendar – something Hamilton has previously been outspoken about.

Speaking last year, the seven-time world champion said: “There’s one more race we need and that’s going to be Africa. We have all the other continents and why not there? So that’s the one I’m working on pushing right now.”

Ferrari making new ‘push’ for Adrian Newey
Ferrari are reportedly ‘pushing’ once more to take highly-rated engineer Adrian Newey from Red Bull.

Auto Motor und Sport report that Ferrari are making a fourth attempt to sign Newey, who has previously admitted to turning down the job on several occasions.

The Italian team want Newey, the mastermind behind Red Bull’s successful cars, to work alongside Lewis Hamilton from the 2025 season.

Who could benefit from Fernando Alonso’s Aston Martin contract?
Fernando Alonso’s new Aston Martin contract surprised many F1 onlookers.

The Spaniard had been linked with Red Bull and Mercedes but decided to pen a multi-year extension with his current team.

That decision is likely to have a ripple effect throughout the grid.

Express Sport’s Fraser Watson took a look at five drivers who may benefit from the deal.

Fernando Alonso and Carlos Sainz

Fernando Alonso’s ‘enduring talent’ highlighted
Martin Brundle has hailed Fernando Alonso’s ‘enduring talent’ after the Spaniard penned a new Aston Martin contract.

Alonso, who is 42, has signed a multi-year extension to quash rumours of a move to Mercedes or Red Bull.

Brundle tweeted: “That man has incredible motivation and staying power. And enduring talent. Exceptional, in any sport, in any era.”

Mercedes ‘finalise’ Max Verstappen contract
Mercedes have reportedly finalised Max Verstappen’s salary and bonuses in the event that the Dutchman agrees to join from Red Bull.

Toto Wolff has publicly admitted that the Silver Arrows would like to sign Verstappen, who has been linked with an exit from Red Bull amid a power struggle behind the scenes.

According to Auto Motor und Sport, Mercedes chiefs have already planned the terms of the contract that they will offer to Verstappen if the 26-year-old agrees to enter surprise talks.

Wolff lost Fernando Alonso from a reported three-man shortlist to replace Lewis Hamilton on Thursday. Alonso has agreed to remain with Aston Martin.

It never quite occurs to you that the phrase spine-tingling is overused until you’re standing at the bend of Amen Corner on Masters Thursday.

But then suddenly you’re there, with Tiger Woods emerging from the shadows of the 11th fairway at Augusta National just a few shots off the opening round Masters lead, and it occurs to you that your spine is tingling. Not in a sappy, metaphorical way — but in tangible bursts of energy that start at the base of your neck and travel down your spine. Every cell in your body, every atom, is strained toward the image of a 48-year-old Tiger Woods in a peach-colored polo shirt trotting down toward his ball at the base of the green. It doesn’t matter that Adam Scott and Cameron Young are about to hit their approach shots into the hole Augusta National chairman Fred Ridley compared to the Mona Lisa just feet away. Nobody can look away, and even though nobody’s said it, you all know why.

The truth is that we don’t know how many more times we’ll see an able-bodied Tiger Woods make it to the fringe of the 11th green at the Masters while still in contention. And though that accomplishment feels small and low on Thursday next to the Masters achievements that have managed to change the course of the club and tournament and sport of golf, it’s an accomplishment that the 2,500 or so of us can cling to together.

It’s foolish that the golf world hopes Woods can still win a 16th major. The golf world knows that. It’s the first thing most of Amen Corner says when he arrives.

“Well, he’s got a pretty good trot,” one of them says.

“Doesn’t look too painful,” a woman replies.

But then the scoreboard changes over Woods’ head and a cheer ripples through the crowd. Tiger is one under, good for T17 on a darkness-shortened opening day. Hope may be foolish, but it’s stubborn.

Tiger likely won’t win a sixth green jacket this week. He hasn’t played a 72-hole tournament in 14 months. He hasn’t played 72 holes at the Masters in two years … and 72 competitive holes in longer than that. His odds of hanging with the best golfers in the world over four days — a group that includes Scottie Scheffler, whose game is nearing a Woodsian level of boring inevitability — are still long. And yet it’s after 7 p.m. on Thursday evening and there’s hardly room for a soul to squeeze into the spectator’s mound behind Amen Corner, which means there’s still a chance.

Woods takes a moment to survey his chip shot on the 11th before he addresses his ball. He settles on a sort of high-spinner he’s hit at least a hundred times on this hole, the kind where the ball whizzes through the air before halting on command. The key is utterly perfect contact, but a thousand of these shots rest deep in the memory of those calloused hands. He scares the flag with the shot, which arcs through the air like a wiffle ball and spins like one, resting neatly on the edge of the hole.

This crowd has screamed a million times for Tiger Woods chip shots on these holes, but this time is different. They roar with a deep, sudden delight. Woods taps in a moment later and the noise follows again.

Woods laughs with Joe Greiner, the caddie for his playing partner Max Homa, as he walks toward the 12th tee box — the hole Ridley called the “most iconic par-3 in the world.” But they’re alone in the laughter. Perhaps it’s that the pair realizes they’ve only got two holes left until play will be delayed for darkness, leaving Tiger with some 23 holes on Friday, the latest test of his physical upper limits. Perhaps it’s that they know that one under for Tiger Woods on Masters Thursday is enough to keep open the possibility that he can stick around in contention. Perhaps it’s that they realize the chip shot surprised all of us at Amen Corner, even Tiger.

The rest of the crowd has gotten over the surprise. They’re busy rising, slowly at first, and then all at once — for what will surely be the longest and loudest standing ovation at the 12th hole at the Masters … until Woods returns again tomorrow.

The moment is short. The ovation is gone quickly. But it feels like the least the gallery can do on Masters Thursday. They know they’re running on borrowed time, and it’s difficult to express the depth of the gratitude and appreciation they feel without upsetting the green jackets. So they stand and cheer, and they hope a little too.

And it’s the hope that sticks with you. Even when it’s for the guy with the mangled body and zero 72-hole tournaments played this year. Because just for a moment you feel it too.

It starts in the spine.

Gervonta Davis is already in great shape over two months out from his next fight against Frank Martin.

‘Tank’ recently confirmed on social media that he would be returning to the ring against Martin on June 22 in Houston, Texas.

Capture-2-1.webp

The fight has not been officially announced at the time of writing, however, Davis is already hard at work preparing for his upcoming clash.

Following a grueling session, the Baltimore banger flaunted his ripped physique in a video uploaded to X on Sunday evening as fans expressed their concerns for Martin.

Reacting to the video, one supporter wrote: “That boy in shape I feel sorry for Frank.”

Another tweeted: “Boy Frank Martin is in a world of trouble, 2 months out and Tank looks like this.”

A third added: “Frank Martin might be going to sleep I can’t lie.”

Davis has been out of action since his seventh-round knockout win over Ryan Garcia in April last year.

Shortly after the triumph, he spent 44 days in prison for violating the terms of a sentence which initially saw him avoid jail time.

Last May, Davis was sentenced to 90 days of home detention, three years probation and 200 hours of community service over his November 2020 hit-and-run car crash which injured four people.

LR_SHO-FIGHT-NIGHT-MARTIN-VS-HARUTYUNYAN-TRAPPFOTOS-JULY152023-0555.webp

He was later found guilty of violating the terms of his home detention and as a result, was ordered to serve the rest of his 90-day sentence in jail.

However, he is now free to move on with his career after having his ankle monitor removed and will box Martin in his first fight back after 14 months.

It was initially reported that the bout was being targeted for June 15 but Davis has since affirmed that it has been pushed back seven days.

The Toyota Centre in Houston, Texas – which is the rumoured venue for the contest – was already booked by American rapper Megan Thee Stallion on June 15.

Davis confirmed that this was the reason for the slight delay in a tweet, posted last week, reading: “I let Meg do her thing… week after.”

Boxing star Gervonta Davis involved in Baltimore hit-and-run

The 29-year-old, who was officially elevated to become the WBA lightweight world champion in January following Devin Haney’s decision to vacate, will defend his strap against Martin on the night.

Martin is ranked No.2 with the major sanctioning body and is undefeated at 18-0.

The best win of his fledgling career came against surging contender Michel Rivera in December 2022.

That fight put Martin’s name on the map at 135lbs and proved he is ready to step up to world title level.

In his last outing, he beat Artem Harutyunyan in a competitive bout.

Many felt Martin was well tested in this bout, as he only won by narrow scores of 115-112, 115-112, 114-113.

Harutyunyan is reportedly now being lined up to face Shakur Stevenson on July 6 as a result of his performance against Martin.

Mayweather couldn’t say no

Retired boxing legend Floyd Mayweather never ceases to amaze. Whether it’s for his extravagant travels or his flaunting of wealth, he’s always on everyone’s lips. This time, however, he couldn’t help but be the center of attention when a fearless fire acrobat singled him out during a thrilling live show. How did the great Mayweather react to this unexpected challenge? Find out here!

Video thumbnail

At first Floyd hesitates a bit whether to go ahead and be part of the show or rather sit back and enjoy the spectacle from afar, but it is impossible to think that Mayweather will look like a coward by refusing to participate with the fire acrobat.

Mayweather recently weighed in on the fight between “Canelo” Alvarez and Jaime Munguia, a fight that has been criticized because Alvarez has nothing to lose and they say he always picks fighters he can beat easily.

So Floyd, believe it or not, defended ‘Canelo’ Álvarez after criticism for choosing Jaime Munguia.

Mayweather Jr.’s endorsement comes as a surprise to many within the boxing world, given Munguía’s relatively smaller stature compared to other potential contenders. However, Mayweather urged respect for Alvarez, recognizing him as the current pound-for-pound king.

The simmering rivalry between Claressa Shields and Alycia Baumgardner exploded once more this weekend. Shields was working as a commentator for the Richardson Hitchins vs. Gustavo Lemos fight when she bumped into her nemesis, Baumgardner. This wasn’t a friendly encounter. According to reports, Shields temporarily left her post to confront Baumgardner, resulting in a fiery exchange of words.

The tension was palpable, and even after Shields returned to her commentary duties, the bad blood lingered. This ongoing feud has become a familiar dance for boxing fans. Social media spats and in-person confrontations have become the norm. But the biggest obstacle to settling this rivalry in the ring remains: weight class. Moreover, Claressa Shields exposes Alycia regarding her substance abuse.

Claressa Shields believes Baumgardner would take steroids again
Following a tense faceoff at the recent Hitchins-Lemos event, Shields unloaded on her rival in a fiery interview. The Michigan born boxer addressed Baumgardner’s past accusations of performance-enhancing drug use with clear anger. “Whatever, she’s a dr*g cheat,” Shields stated. “I don’t give a f***,” she continued, referencing Baumgardner’s suspension for a failed drug test. Baumgardner has since maintained her innocence.

The interview also highlighted the fighters’ significant weight difference. Baumgardner reigns as the 130-pound champion, while Shields sits comfortably at 160 pounds. “She can walk around on weight,” Shields said, implying that Baumgardner’s past positive test may have aided her weight management. Shields further fanned the flames by addressing comments Baumgardner made about her appearance.

“Look, Alicia, I don’t know where the f*** you got that I was ugly from,” Shields fired back in a surprising turn. She vehemently denied any insecurity about her looks, stating, “God not to find a cute. No, God not to find a cute and he don’t care about ugly. So it’s like, therefore looks don’t matter.” Not only this, Shields, in another tweet also mentioned how she actually tried to reach out to Baumgardner’s team but didn’t receive any response.

Shields roped in for clout?
Claressa Shields has fired back at suggestions that her rivalry with Alycia Baumgardner is a publicity stunt. The comments come after a heated faceoff between the two champions at the recent Hitchins-Lemos event. Shields took to Twitter to address the situation, specifically referencing her manager, Dmitry Salita.

Her tweet reads: “Her team didn’t even want to entertain the conversation! Ask @Dsalita! First call I made after I won my MMA fight, ‘set the fight between me & Alycia now’ he called her team and everyone was super against it!!!!! Said Alycia was just talking ‘clout.’” Shields’ tweet suggests her team was initially hesitant about pursuing a fight with Baumgardner.

She claims that she actively pushed for the matchup following her MMA victory, and that Baumgardner’s team ultimately rejected the proposition. What are your thoughts about this matchup? Tell us in the comments section.

Simone Biles’ rooting for an outing with Jonathan Owens keeps adding new stories in their romantic episode. Jonathan, the NFL safety signed up for the Chicago Bears camp recently, a closer camp to Texas compared to his previous club Green Bay Packers. Eventually, Texas is the place where his loving wife, Simone Biles, resides. So, now the couple seems to have more romantic outings. The visuals from the last few days attested to that fact.

Just a few days ago, Simone Biles rejoiced at the moment when she found herself beside her husband, Jonathan Owens in Houston, watching an NBA game. The 7x Olympic medalist shouted for Steph Curry there. But at the same time, she enjoyed the couple’s time in the box. Now, she hinted at a colorful, joyous encounter with her husband, Jonathan Owens.

Simone Biles received another surprise outing from husband Jonathan Owens. After attending the last NBA game together in Houston, this time the couple celebrated the warmth with a small dinner party. The closely-knitted affair witnessed both Simone Biles and Jonathan Owens finding satisfaction in the company of each other.

To keep her followers updated with the happening, the 27-year-old gymnast posted an IG story last night showing Jonathan taking his grab from the dinner plate with an enormous smile. Simone captioned the post, “came to visit me on set today [emoji]”. Eventually, the small dinner party served several insights apart from hinting at the warmth the couple is having between them now.

As the visual panned out from that IG story, it fervently showcased an indoor with Simone’s photo frame behind. In the meantime, Simone’s handbags were visible at the corner. However, with such an appearance, the Rio Olympics champion left her fans guessing about the location of their latest dinner date. But at the same time, the occasion gave out a similar vibe to a past incident.

The dinner date just before the season opener
Jonathan Owens is eagerly waiting for his turn in the color of the Chicago Bears. The 28-year-old NFL safety is gleefully participating in the fitness drills under the careful watch of the support staffers. So, a season-opening entry in the final lineup is on the cards for him. So before unfolding a new NFL season for the new club, the dinner date rang, reminiscing about his Green Bay Packers game as the season-opener last year.

That time as well, Simone Biles reunited with Jonathan Owens, throwing a dinner date. Later, she shared an update from that dinner on IG, captioning, “bro is so fine.” Ironically, at that time, the GBP squad was about to face the Chicago Bears in their opening game. Now, coincidentally, Simone Biles threw a dinner date for her husband just before a new NFL season. But this time, JO will serve as the arch-rival of GBP.

Serbian ‘pleased’ with 70-minute victory, next faces Musetti or Fils

Novak Djokovic was delighted with his sharp play Tuesday when he kicked off his clay-court season at the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters in dominant fashion. Despite his convincing 6-1, 6-2 victory against Roman Safiullin, the Serbian was quick to keep his expectations in check as he chases his first title of the year.

“It’s a great start. Let’s not get ahead of ourselves and put the hopes too high,” Djokovic said in his post-match press conference. “It’s only one match, but the way I felt, I’m really pleased. It’s just the beginning of the tournament. It’s one match. I’m going to hope to work tomorrow to maintain that rhythm and focus, obviously try to perform as well as I did in the second match as I did today.”

A 98-time tour-level titlist, Djokovic is 9-3 on the season, with his best result a semi-final run at the Australian Open. The Belgrade native last month suffered an early exit at the BNP Paribas Open, where he fell to Luca Nardi in the third round.

Having failed to advance beyond the quarter-finals in his seven most recent appearances in the Principality, two-time tournament champion Djokovic will hope this is the week he can return to top form and change that record. Committing just nine unforced errors and advancing after 70 minutes Tuesday was an encouraging start for the 24-time major champion.

Novak Djokovic

“I really like the way I felt today on the court, the way I was striking the ball,” Djokovic said. “I think the two, three weeks of training I had is paying off. [I had a] good training block with [Nenad] Zimonjic and with the team.

“We put in a lot of hours into thinking about the game, the movement, and things that haven’t really worked for me in the first couple tournaments of this year that I played.”

The 36-year-old, who on Sunday became the oldest No. 1 in PIF ATP Rankings history, is chasing a record-extending 41st ATP Masters 1000 crown this week. Should he lift the trophy, it would mark the top seed’s third sweep of all nine Masters 1000 tournaments.

Having won in the Principality in 2013 and 2015, Djokovic will next meet Italian Lorenzo Musetti or #NextGenATP Frenchman Arthur Fils in the third round. Last year, Musetti upset Djokovic in Monte-Carlo in the same round.

“I’m not scared of anything and anybody, but I really hope that I can get the chance to play him again, get the matchup, another matchup here,” said Djokovic, who leads Musetti 3-1 in their Lexus ATP Head2Head series. “He obviously is one of the most talented players on clay, a beautiful one-handed backhand. He’s very athletic. He can do a lot of great things. He’s one of the most promising young players not only from Italy, but generally for the world.”

Asked about a potential first meeting with Fils, Djokovic also spoke highly of the 19-year-old.

“He’s only going upwards. He’s a very promising player,” Djokovic said. “He won his first title last year in Lyon. He’s a really strong guy physically. He puts a lot of weight on his shots, particularly from the forehand, and he is very athletic as well.

“Both [Musetti and Fils] are very young, promising players. Probably both of them prefer clay as the best surface for both of them. They play with a lot of spin compared to Safiullin today, [who] was playing quite flat. It’s a different matchup for me.”
