Lindsey Vonn‘s remarkable career as a skier has been marked by triumphs and trials, both on and off the slopes. Despite grappling with adversity, she exhibited remarkable resilience in bouncing back from numerous knee injuries. However, achieving the monumental feat of winning 82 World Cup races has taken its toll. Even after retirement, the familiarity of the operating room persists for her all because of past injuries.

It all started in 2007 while training in Austria before the World Championships. Her career took a hit due to an accident that resulted in injuries, to her knees ACL, and MCL. Since then she has undergone multiple surgeries with an addition bringing the total count to 10+1 new one added recently. However, it seems her recent one is the last and permanent solution: knee replacement surgery and the reason behind this one came to light today, as she revealed the reason.

The reason behind Lindsey Vonn’s knee replacement
Yesterday, Lindsey Vonn took to social media to share a significant update with her followers: she underwent knee replacement surgery, which she revealed went very well. She initially announced surgery back in January this year but didn’t disclose the exact reason. However, in a recent Instagram post, Vonn revealed the reason which came, “After a lot…research and talking to many many doctors.”

She disclosed that she had been dealing with severe tri-compartment degeneration, with the lateral compartment, or the outside of her knee, causing the most pain. Despite a preparation surgery last July aimed at delaying the need for replacement, she reached a point where her knee couldn’t support her active lifestyle anymore.

Dr. Roche performed a Mako Robot-assisted lateral unicompartmental replacement, involving the removal of part of her bone and its replacement with titanium pieces. Vonn expressed gratitude to Dr. Roche and his team, highlighting their incredible work and her positive recovery progress. She remains hopeful that this surgery will enable her to lead the active life she’s always desired. Vonn concluded her post by expressing, “Appreciate all of the well wishes. Means a lot to me.” She assures that this surgery is just another hurdle in her life journey, and she’s determined to bounce back swiftly. But how did this all start?

From shattered dreams to soaring victories, Vonn’s epic journey
After enduring a significant setback in 2007 due to injury, Lindsey Vonn’s determination propelled her back into the skiing world’s limelight. Her path was filled with difficulties as her knees endured the pressure of skiing, leading to a series of surgeries to tackle recurring problems.

In 2013, Vonn encountered another setback when she sustained an ACL and MCL injury during a super G race, in Schladming, Austria which led to her withdrawal from the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics and dashed her dreams of additional Olympic victories. Despite relentless efforts to maintain her health, her knees remained a constant source of concern.

In 2016, she underwent surgery to repair a fractured left knee again. Despite the odds, Vonn’s indomitable spirit persevered, and in 2023, she embarked on the journey toward knee replacement surgery, and finally today she has a successful knee replacement.

What makes Masters so special? It is a long list but one of the most crucial reasons is the rich legacy and the beautiful traditions the event is steeped in. Even the family members of the golfers get to celebrate the game of golf at the Augusta National.

However, it appears that this year, Tiger Woods might take part in the celebration without his family members by his side. Mr. T has often taken on the role of caddie for his son, but will Charlie Woods be able to do the same for his old man this Wednesday?

Will Charlie Woods be seen next to Tiger Woods on the Augusta greens?
Another tiny tradition was upheld at the Sunday practice session, where all the past champions get the privilege to invite one of the guests on the course and enjoy a round of golf with them. Snippets from the course were also shared on @TheMasters — the official X handle of Masters. Though on the guest list, Mr.T‘s little cub was nowhere to be seen.

Woods was spotted with his caddie, Lance Bennett, and accompanying him was Rob McNamara, the official vice president of Woods’ business, TGR Ventures, and, unofficially, a second set of eyes for his golf swing. As posted by the TWLegion on their official X (formerly Twitter) account.

They wrote, “Tiger chipped and put around Augusta this afternoon alongside caddie Lance Bennett and close confidante Rob McNamara, taking just his wedges and putter, according to @BobHarig”. Charlie Woods’s absences have also given rise to further speculation that he might not be able to attend the entire Masters Championship and, in the process, miss the most anticipated Par-3 contest before D-day.

This was a tradition that was first held at the 1960 tournament. It is led in a single round on a nine-hole, par-27 course in the northeast corner of the Augusta National course. The former champions get the opportunity to invite their family members to take charge of their bags and give them access to putt a few balls on their behalf too!

Even though both his kids, Sam and Charlie, might not be next to Woods this year. The Woods kids have already participated in the Par-3 contest. On April 8, 2015, Woods was on his golf and fatherly duties while the kids were on their caddie duties on the Augusta greens,

Tiger Woods enjoyed the Par-3 contest in 2015
The 15-time major winner had the time of his life playing the par-3 contest for the first time after becoming a father. His daughter Sam Woods was 7 years old, and Charlie Woods was 6, and they followed him through the greens toting his clubs. Woods even said, “These were memories for a lifetime.”

As he headed to the 9th hole, he handed his putter to Charlie, motioning him to finish the round. Although Charlie refused to take the club, Sam delightfully volunteered. They both even wore the caddie outfits, Charlie carrying three clubs in his hands, and Sam taking hold of the putter. Woods was indeed the happiest man on the greens that day, doing the two things he enjoyed: golfing and being a father!

Not all women’s basketball stars are impressed with Clark’s work.

Caitlin Clark has been one of the biggest stars of this year’s college basketball season. She set an all-time scoring record for the NCAA and took the University of Iowa Hawkeyes to the championship game of the March Madness tournament for the second year in a row. And now, she’s headed to the WNBA draft after an incredible final year in school.

But unfortunately, that hasn’t spared her from criticism throughout the season.

WNBA legend Diana Taurasi, for example, recently found herself in hot water after she insinuated that Clark looks “superhuman” now because she’s playing against college athletes but will have a much harder time in the WNBA. Sheryl Swoopes mistakenly said Clark was in her fifth year of school when she was in her fourth.

Then, former UConn player Breanna Stewart claimed Clark couldn’t be the GOAT without a national title. Meanwhile, Hall of Famer Lynette Woodard, who previously held the NCAA scoring record, believes Clark’s use of three-pointers meant she didn’t actually break the nearly 50-year-old record.

However, Clark has a fan in Paige Spiranac, who has not been immune to unfair criticism herself. The golfer and social media influencer shared her support for the top draft prospect and her thoughts on the recent criticism on X.

“The hate towards Caitlin Clark from current and former players is disappointing but not surprising,” Spiranac wrote. “Women can be absolutely vicious to other women while also preaching empowering the next generation. I’ve seen it firsthand but we must remember a rising tide lifts all boats.”

Clark, for her part, has managed to brush off any negative attention that’s come her way. For now, she’s focused on the WNBA draft on April 15 and possibly taking Ice Cube up on a $5 million offer.

After a disappointing 2023 season spent on the sidelines, 2024 saw a positive return for Emma Raducanu. The entirety of the 2023 season left fans yearning for her dazzling performances back from the US Open 2021. For Raducanu, it meant making sure she was ready for her comeback. Following the time spent in Brisbane and Melbourne, Emma Raducanu now prepares to mount a campaign for the WTA 1000 title in Abu Dhabi and makes her thoughts on her injuries plain.

Emma Raducanu gave an extensive interview on the real depth of her injuries from 2023, giving fans a real peek behind the curtain. Her revelations might just mean there was more to the injuries than she let on.

Did Emma Raducanu keep fans in the dark about more injuries?
Ahead of her match at WTA Abu Dhabi, Emma Raducanu spoke extensively about her time spent recovering from injuries. While fans certainly missed her, it seems her journey of getting better was tougher than she initially let on.

“I’ve never really had the chance to do proper training weeks back-to-back. For six or seven months, before I ended up having the surgeries, I was only practicing one or two hours a day just to limit the load on the wrists,” she said in an interview with The National News. The real trouble for Raducanu, it seems, was not just staying away from the sport she loves.

It was also to limit the kind of work that she could put into her game, especially since her wrists had been the root cause of the injury. Moreover, these comments might be indicative of underlying injury problems for the Brit, ones that plagued her even before she ventured towards the option of surgery. Not to mention, some struggles with sickness also appeared during her time in Australia.

Renewed Raducanu stands firm on making 2024 a positive season
Despite the numerous injuries Raducanu fought through, the ones on her wrist or even not being able to walk without crutches for a period of time, the Brit remains determined to step back onto the court. The first part of this was evident in her exploits in the land down under.

While she started off her campaign with two exits in the ASB Classic and the Australian Open, Emma Raducanu already shows positive signs when it comes to performances after injuries. While she may not have gone deep into tournaments, she surely looks on track to gain her old form back.

With the WTA 1000, the tennis world has a real chance to see what Raducanu can do when she is not limited by injuries. It will be interesting to see whether her performances change, and just how much did the injuries slow her down from the path to success.

Anthony Joshua is expecting youth to overcome experience when Jake Paul faces Mike Tyson this summer.

The former heavyweight champion, though, admits he is worried about ‘Iron Mike’s’ health as he gears up to fight a man 31 years his junior.

Paul and Tyson will clash in the summer in Texas

By the time Tyson, the youngest heavyweight champion in history, climbs into the ring against Paul he will have just celebrated his 58th birthday.

Meanwhile, ‘The Problem Child’ is in his physical prime at 27 years old and is an active professional boxer with 10 fights under his belt (9-1).

The last time Tyson competed was in 2020 when he faced Roy Jones Jr in an eight-round exhibition – his first appearance in the ring since hanging up his professional gloves in 2005.

By contrast, Paul has boxed four times since last year, though his second bout as a pro came on the undercard of Tyson vs Jones Jr and scored a knockout of former NBA player Nate Robinson.

Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul: Anthony Joshua makes prediction for huge exhibition fight | Evening Standard

When asked to pick a winner in the crossover clash, Joshua told the Jonathan Ross Show, which airs this Saturday on ITV: “He [Mike Tyson] is older now.

“I pray that he comes out healthy. I think Jake Paul [wins] because of youth – that’s the only thing.”

Paul vs Tyson is the latest blockbuster spectacle to see a retired ageing boxer pitted against an influencer.

Three years ago, Paul’s brother Logan fought Floyd Mayweather in a non-scored bout, which paved the way for others to go on and do the same.

Joshua thinks Paul will beat Tyson

Quizzed on his thoughts about the increase in popularity of influencer boxing matches, Joshua replied: “I personally think it’s really good.

“I think the boxing hardcores, they don’t like it because they think ‘Why are they disrespecting our sport?’

“But I think that person brings all these people into boxing which benefits everyone else. Everyone viewing helps.”

Paul and Tyson square off on July 20 at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas – the home of NFL side, the Dallas Cowboys.

The fight will be shown live on Netflix for free to all existing subscribers.

Tyson recently confirmed the bout is an exhibition but insisted it will be contested under ‘real fight’ rules and regulations.

Judy Murray has an impressive coaching pedigree

Judy Murray, the mother of tennis star Andy Murray, is reportedly being considered as a potential coach for Novak Djokovic. The world No1 recently parted ways with his long-time coach Goran Ivanisevic after a lackluster start to the year. Judy Murray, known for her impressive coaching pedigree, is being eyed as a potential candidate to assist Djokovic in his career.

“It’s no secret that Judy Murray has a wealth of experience and knowledge in coaching, and her son Andy has been a fierce rival of Djokovic for many years,” a source revealed. “Novak is reportedly considering seeking help from Judy as he looks to make a change in his coaching setup.”

Video thumbnail

Judy Murray, 64, has established herself as a well-respected coach, having captained Great Britain’s Fed Cup team from 2011 to 2016 and worked extensively with British tennis’ governing body, the LTA. Despite a successful junior and senior playing career in Scotland during the 1970s, Judy decided to pursue coaching after facing challenges in her professional playing career.

In contrast, Djokovic had an extraordinary 2023 season, clinching a record 24 Grand Slam titles by winning the Australian Open, French Open, and US Open. However, his performance this year has been subpar, with early exits at tournaments such as the Australian Open and Indian Wells.

Nole has been struggling on the court
“Novak’s recent struggles on the court have led to speculation about potential changes in his coaching team,” the source added. “The tension that emerged with his coaches at Melbourne Park was particularly telling, indicating that a change might be necessary for him to regain his form.”

The potential collaboration between Judy Murray and Novak Djokovic comes at a crucial time for both individuals. While Djokovic aims to bounce back from his recent setbacks and maintain his status as the world’s top-ranked player, Andy Murray has hinted at the possibility of retiring from professional tennis due to ongoing injuries.

As the tennis world awaits further developments on Djokovic’s coaching situation, the prospect of Judy Murray joining forces with the Serbian star has sparked interest and speculation among fans and experts alike.

Wrestling companies are always looking for athletes from other sports to come into the business. Jake Paul and more could debut in 2024.

There has always been a crossover between the worlds of professional wrestling and athletes. The appeal for the WWE in these athletes is a gateway to more mainstream attention from more popular leagues like the NFL and the NBA. While many may dismiss professional athletes’ involvement in professional wrestling events as nothing more than paid promotional work, many top athletes seem to be genuine fans of professional wrestling in general or WWE specifically and are seemingly enamored by the product.

However, it is one thing for a professional athlete to love wrestling, it’s an entirely different thing for said athlete to lace up their boots and step into the ring. However, that hasn’t stopped some athletes from trying to cross over into professional wrestling. Here are some we could see crossing over.

Claressa Shields Could Be A Future WWE Champion
Claressa Shields – Boxer

Claressa Shields 3

Claressa Shields is a decorated boxing champion, winning Olympic Gold Medals in her weight class at the 2008 and 2012 Olympic Games. In 2016, Shield turned pro and has consolidated multiple Middleweight Championships, including the WBA, IBF, WBO, WBF, and the Ring titles. In 2021, Shields also tried her hand at MMA making two appearances for the Professional Fighting League winning her debut fight by TKO but losing the second one by a split decision.

Shields has commented about the possibility of having a WWE match in 2023 stating that she would love to step into a WWE ring and has stated that she feels like could take on the whole division. This certainly fits with the brash and confident personality that she has backed up in the boxing ring.

Several UFC fighters would naturally be able to transition into careers in professional wrestling and Covington is seemingly no exception. The controversial UFC star has made several political statements, openly supporting Donald Trump, and even visited the Trump White House after becoming the interim UFC Welterweight Champion after defeating Rafael Dos Anjos. Covington’s political views are just the tip of the controversial antics of the former Champion, having previously called the country of Brazil, a dump, and insulted Leon Edward’s deceased father during a pre-fight press conference.

In 2020, Covington caused a stir by stating that he may cross to professional wrestling and “make wrestling real again”. WWE Champion Drew McIntyre responded to the statement, which resulted in Covington threatening to take McIntyre’s soul out of his body. Given that Covington has now lost three of his last 5 fights, breaking his foot in his most recent fight, he may be more seriously considered a run in the WWE. The fact that UFC and WWE are under one roof of the company TKO means a crossover is more likely than ever.

Jake Paul Could Always Join His Brother In WWE
Jake Paul – Boxing

Speaking of social media influencers, Logan Paul made numerous WWE before making his in-ring debut at WrestleMania 38, teaming with the Miz to take on Rey Mysterio and Dominik Mysterio. Logan has continued to make WWE appearances, including a reign with the United States Championship. Logan’s brother, Jake Paul has also made appearances in the WWE, during Logan’s Undisputed Championship challenge against Roman Reigns at Crown Jewel.

Instead of following his brother into WWE, Jake has continued working as a boxer and also signed a long-term deal with MMA promotion Professional Fighters League in 2023. Given his brother’s deal with the WWE, it would be surprising to see Jake also make his in-ring debut with WWE.

Cormier would finish his MMA career with back-to-back losses to Stipe Miocic.

Cormier is a long-time fan of WWE and professional wrestling, with Cormier working with WWE in 2022 as a special guest referee in the Fight Pit match between Seth Rollins and Matt Riddle at the Extreme Rules pay-per-view. In 2023, Cormier would present several WWE panels ahead of WrestleMania 39, including an interview with another former UFC Heavyweight Champion and WWE wrestler, Brock Lesnar. It is clear for everyone to see that Conor McGregor is coming to the end of his career as an MMA fighter after suffering a brutal loss to Khabib Nurmagomedov and back-to-back losses to Dustin Poirier, breaking his leg in their second fight. During his recovery from injury, the UFC announced that McGregor would be a coach in the 31st installment of the Ultimate Fighter Series, facing off against Michael Chandler.

Given that McGregor has already retired from UFC in the past, and has a history of high-profile clashes with professional wrestlers, there is no reason why McGregor couldn’t trade the Octagon for the squared circle. Though, unlike the others on this list, Conor McGregor has stated that he has no interest in joining the WWE, though he has also called out WWE wrestlers including a social media feud with Paul Heyman.

The former heavyweight champion hasn’t fought for three years

As a former heavyweight boxing champion with 58 career bouts and 50 wins to his name, Mike Tyson is used to getting in the ring. But ahead of his fight with Jake Paul, the veteran admits he is fearing the worst from his exhibition match.

The pair will fight at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas on July 20 in a hotly-anticipated bout, which has also attracted criticism due to the massive age gap between Tyson and Paul.

Jake Paul’s manager denies alleged rules for Mike Tyson fight

The YouTuber is just 27 years of age and has only 10 fights to his name. Tyson, 57, hasn’t fought in the ring since his last exhibition match against Roy Jones Jr in December 2020, which ended as a draw.

It is no surprise then that Tyson, who has suffered from mobility issues in recent years, is dreading coming against the American fighter. However, he insists this all part of the process before a fight.

“I have a weird personality – I don’t think it’s weird though. Whatever I’m afraid to do, I do it. That’s how it is,” Tyson told Sean Hannity on Tuesday night. “I was afraid of the Roy [Jones Jr.] fight [in 2020].

“I was 100 pounds overweight, I was however old, 54, 53, and I said ‘Let’s do it.’ Anything I’m afraid of, I confront it. That’s my personality. Right now, I’m scared to death.”

Tyson wary of Paul threat
Video footage from Tyson’s training sessions have been uploaded onto social media as a way of dispelling theories that he could struggle to fight against Paul, who has a 9-1 record in boxing.

Paul’s reaction to those clips suggested he might have been wary of the threat posed by his opponent, with Tyson looking sharp in preparing for the fight.

And he explained how he channeled his nerves into helping him feel ‘invincible’: “I always believed that adversity and nervousness pretty much catapulted me into success,” Tyson said.

“If I didn’t have these feelings, I wouldn’t go into this fight. I have to have these feelings to fight. Without them, I would never go in the ring. As the fight gets closer, the less nervous I become, because it’s reality. And in reality, I’m invincible.”

But he admits that he knows Paul’s YouTuber days cannot be taken into account when he steps into the ring: “I saw a YouTube of him at 16 doing weird dances. That’s not the guy I’m gonna be fighting,” he added. “This guy is gonna come, he’s gonna try to hurt me, which I’m accustomed to, and he’s gonna be greatly mistaken.”

Savannah Marshall has followed her rival Claressa Shields to the PFL where she will now compete in MMA in a bout that now looks certain to be made

Claressa Shields’ biggest rival has followed her to mixed martial arts after signing with the PFL. Savannah Marshall has been announced as the latest boxer to move over to MMA, with her debut already set in the PFL – where she could eventually be reunited with Shields in a fitting end to their 10-year rivalry.

Shields and Marshall had been seen as the two best prospects in boxing heading into the 2012 Olympics, where the latter defeated the American, handing her her first loss of her amateur career.

She went on to boast an incredible 64 wins to just one loss, coming against Marshall, before both turned professional with talks of a fight for years finally coming to a head in 2022. Shields was able to exact her revenge in their professional bout – winning by unanimous decision as the two shared words of respect after the bout.

But since then, the two have gone back and forth on social media and after wins of their own, with a future fight seemingly likely – and now, potentially in a different sport.

The PFL announced Marshall will fight in Newcastle on June 8, with the PFL already announcing their intentions of a future bout with Shields.

A PFL statement read: “Savannah and Claressa Shields competed in one of the most-watched women’s boxing matchups in history when they first fought, and now with Savannah’s MMA debut, the two are on a collision course for a rematch wearing four ounce gloves and settling the score in the PFL SmartCage.”

The PFL have made a number of impressive signings of the last 12 months, including former UFC champion Francis Ngannou and YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul.

Paul is reportedly set to make his PFL debut at some point in 2024, however no bout has yet been announced with the 27-year-old currently scheduled to face Mike Tyson in July.

The 20-time Major winner walked away in September 2022

Roger Federer has dropped a hint on social media that he could perform a U-turn on his retirement and make a sensational return to tennis.

The Swiss legend retired from the game in September 2022 with 20 Grand Slams and 103 ATP Tour titles to his name, cementing his status as one of the greatest players to have graced men’s tennis.

Video thumbnail

His collection of Majors has since been surpassed by Rafael Nadal (22) and Novak Djokovic (24), but Federer’s elegant style and classy demeanour makes him a unique character in the modern game.

He is still adored by tennis fans everywhere he goes, and so when the eight-time Wimbledon champion loosely suggested he could be making a comeback, fans went into overdrive.

Federer shared a tweet containing three emojis – a “soon” signal, a Christmas tree and a pair of eyes – and many interpreted this as a sign that he could be about to end his 18-month sabbatical.

The Swiss icon has already admitted he “doesn’t want to go away” from tennis, although he is yet to formalize his future in the sport – only attending events in an ambassadorial manner.

But Federer’s message on his official X account is the biggest hint he has given that he might be about to return to competitive action.

Will Federer return to tennis?
Federer had struggled with injuries towards the end of his career and decided to hang up his racket at the age of 41 after the Laver Cup, which offered an emotional farewell after fulfilling his dream of playing alongside his friendly rivals Nadal and Djokovic.

With that in mind, it seems unlikely the former world No 1 would have recovered from his long-standing knee issues and with Federer turning 43 in August, he would be nearly twice as old as some competitors.

Federer

Other theories have suggested he could join Djokovic’s team after the Serbian split with his long-serving coach Goran Ivanisevic. But with a flurry of sport documentaries being released on Netflix and Amazon Prime, perhaps one dedicated to Federer’s career is on the horizon.
