Emma Watson joined the world of Disney Princesses in 2017 and holds a unique record that might be impossible to beat by other Princesses.

Emma Watson joined the world of Disney Princesses in 2017, and she has one impressive Disney Princess record that is almost impossible to beat. Disney has been riding the wave of live-action remakes for years now, bringing to life some of its animated classics. However, while the animated versions succeeded and went on to become classics, the live-action versions haven’t had the same luck. Disney hasn’t really replicated the high quality of its animated movies in its live-action remakes, though some of them turned out to be highly profitable.

In 2017, the 1991 animated classic Beauty and the Beast got the live-action treatment, with Bill Condon as director and Emma Watson as Belle. Although 2017’s Beauty and the Beast followed the same premise as the animated version and with the same characters, it made a couple of changes and additions to the story (such as bits of Belle’s backstory) that didn’t sit well with the audience. Despite its flaws, Beauty and the Beast received positive reviews from critics and was a huge box office success, giving Emma Watson an impressive Disney Princess record that sets the bar way too high for future live-action Princesses.

Emma Watson’s Beauty & The Beast Is The Highest Grossing Disney Princess Movie Remake

Although Disney has been making live-action remakes of its animated movies since the 1990s, these gained force in the mid-2010s as the Mouse House started choosing some of its most successful animated movies to get a new version. 2017’s Beauty and the Beast was praised for the performances of its cast, its songs, and visuals, though, at the same time, the performances and visuals also received some criticism. This wasn’t an impediment to Beauty and the Beast’s box office success, as it grossed over $1.2 billion against a budget of $160-255 million, becoming the second-highest grossing movie of 2017 and the highest-grossing Disney Princess movie remake to date.

At the time of writing, Disney has made seven Disney Princess live-action remakes, counting both Maleficent movies as they featured Princess Aurora, yet Emma Watson’s Belle reigns as the highest-grossing one. The only Disney live-action remake that has surpassed Beauty and the Beast’s success so far has been Jon Favreau’s The Lion King, in 2019, which grossed $1.6 billion against a budget of $250-260 million. Despite subsequent Disney Princess movies being higher in quality than Beauty and the Beast, as was the case for 2023’s The Little Mermaid, none of them have come close to what Belle and company achieved.

Could Any Live-Action Disney Princess Remake Beat Beauty & The Beast?

Could Any Live-Action Disney Princess Remake Beat Beauty & The Beast?

The failures of Disney’s live-action remakes aren’t stopping the studio from working on more. Disney has a list of upcoming live-action remakes, and there are two Disney Princesses in it: Snow White and Moana. The former’s live-action version is scheduled for a March 2025 release, while the latter is expected to arrive in June of the same year. However, Snow White has already been involved in controversy and the first official looks at it weren’t well-received, so it’s unlikely that it will beat Beauty and the Beast at the box office.

Moana could have a different fate and could be a box office hit if done right, but matching or surpassing Beauty and the Beast’s $1 billion record would still be a big challenge for the Polynesian princess. Two animated movies that could match or beat Beauty and the Beast’s box office success if they were made into live-action movies are Tangled and Frozen. Tangled is one of Disney’s most successful and acclaimed animated movies in the last decade, and thanks to its combination of action, drama, and fantasy, it would be interesting to see it coming to life.

Frozen is the biggest hit Disney has had in the last decade and has the potential to be a massive hit in the live-action format, but Anna and Elsa aren’t official Disney Princesses. Emma Watson will continue to hold a unique Disney Princess record, and it might not be beaten in a long time.

Roberto Bautista Agut recently said that Rafael Nadal would be admired even more by someone who played tennis and knew him, than by people who never played the sport.

Nadal has established himself as one of the sport’s all-time greats with his extraordinary career, that has seen him win 22 Grand Slam titles. That number was a record until it was surpassed by Novak Djokovic, who now has 24.

Bautista Agut, who was asked in an interview whether Djokovic was the best player in history, agreed that the Serb has surpassed Nadal through his numbers. But the 35-year-old also said that while Nadal is admired by everyone, he would be admired even more by a tennis player as they would know the difficulty of what he achieved.

“By numbers Novak surpasses Nadal. He was talking about it with a friend at the gym. Someone who is not a fan or who has never played tennis can admire Rafa, but a tennis player or a friend of his admires him even more because he knows how complex and difficult it is to achieve everything these people have achieved,” Bautista Agut told Marca.

The World No. 57 added that fans may not be aware of the extent of the achievements of Nadal, Djokovic and Roger Federer.

“A fan may have an idea, but he doesn’t know what monstrosities the ‘Big Three’ have done. It is something incredible and out of the ordinary,” Bautista Agut said.

Rafael Nadal is set to return to action at the Brisbane International, which would be his first tournament since the 2023 Australian Open. The 37-year-old is currently ranked 670th in the world.

Rafael Nadal and Roberto Bautista Agut have faced each other thrice so far, with the former leading 3-0 in the head-to-head.

The first meeting between the two came in the semifinals of the 2014 Madrid Open, with Nadal winning 6-4, 6-3. They then locked horns in the fourth round of the 2017 French Open, and the King of Clay triumphed 6-1, 6-2, 6-2. On both these occasions, Nadal went on to win the respective tournaments.

The most recent encounter between the two came in the second round of the 2019 Monte-Carlo Masters, and this time, Nadal won 6-1, 6-1 to reach the third round. He went on to reach the semifinals before losing to eventual champion Fabio Fognini.

Retired Mexican professional boxer and world lightweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez is a legend of the sport. He had been one of the longest undefeated boxers, with 89 wins and 1 draw and no losses to his name until American Frankie Randall defeated him. Chavez, who is also known as ‘Cacho’, additionally holds the world record for having the most fans at a boxing event.

However, talking of great boxers, a name that never fails to come up is Floyd Mayweather Jr, who is one of the most renowned boxers today. Much like Chavez, Mayweather boasts an undefeated record with 50 wins and no losses or draws. The parallels between him and Chavez as two greats call for a comparison. In a recent interview with 1on1 Boxing News, Chavez finally gave his opinion on who would beat who against Mayweather. Let us see what he has to say.

What are the chances of Julio Cesar Chavez beating Floyd Mayweather?
In the interview, Julio Cesar Chavez was asked a hypothetical question, which put him against Floyd Mayweather. Without any delay, the former provided his honest opinion, saying, “At 135lbs, 140, I think I’d have beaten Mayweather, not at another weight because I never made 147lbs.” He believes that his chances lie in his natural weight, and he has always fought at 135 or 140 pounds. So it is not a surprise that he is most comfortable there.

Julio Cesar Chavez further mentioned, “My natural weight was 140lbs or 135. That’s where I could have beaten him.” Chavez’s experience has given him more than enough opportunities to find out about his strengths and weaknesses. His ability to know and acknowledge Mayweather’s prowess even after 18 years of retirement proves that he is a fighter through and through. Does Mayweather share similar thoughts?

On the contrary, here’s what Floyd Mayweather says about facing Julio Cesar Chavez
Although Mayweather has retired from professional boxing, he does enjoy a few exhibition fights here and there. However, he realizes that facing an influencer is not the same as facing the legends of the sport. For this one reason, Floyd Mayweather turned down a chance to fight Chavez. He said, “Julio Cesar Chavez is a legend; I take my hat off to him.“

Mayweather further said, “Yesterday, when we were on stage, I told him he’s a legend; guys like Julio Cesar Chavez, Roberto Duran, Larry Holmes paved the way; they paved the way for me to get to where I am.” Chavez had defeated Mayweather’s uncle, Roger Mayweather. It is only right that he give respect to him rather than put up the gloves against him for an exhibition fight.

There were rumors of a possible exhibition fight between the two. However, it never materialized. While one stays undefeated for the time to come and another suffers his first loss after 90 bouts, who do you think comes out on top? Let us know in the comments below.

Simone Biles seemingly wants her fans to stop talking about her after her Green Bay Packers’ husband Jonathan Owens recently admitted he didn’t know who she was before they met.

Biles reposted a message that read ‘STOP BRINGING ME UP’ followed by 14 laughing-face emojis, and concluded with ‘work on that for the new year’ on her Instagram story on Wednesday.

The message doesn’t directly reference Owens’ assertions, but with his comments about his now-wife going viral in recent days, it can be seen as an unofficial response from Biles.

The repost isn’t her latest Instagram story, with a message of ‘good morning’ and a blacked out screen with three emojis — a gymnast, a dizzy face, and a burning heart — also being shared Thursday morning.

Owens’ recent appearance on ‘The Pivot Podcast’ garnered harsh criticism after he revealed he’d never heard of Biles before they started dating in 2020.

Owens and Biles met on the celebrity dating app Raya, when she was already a four-time Olympic gold medalist and considered one of the greatest gymnasts of all-time.

The couple met online during the height of the coronavirus pandemic while Owens was a member of the Houston Texans and Biles had her chance to continue Olympic dominance delayed a year.

During his podcast appearance, Owens said he never paid much attention to gymnastics. He must’ve quickly gotten up to speed once he met Biles.

Biles and Owens got engaged last year and got married in April.

A source told DailyMail.com in June that Biles’ return to gymnastics was in large party thanks to Owens convincing her to do so.

While training for a hopeful Olympic return, Biles has been on the sidelines and crowd during plenty of Packers’ games to support her husband.

It’s unclear whether Biles knew who Owens was when they matched on Raya as well.

Before becoming romantically linked with his now-wife, Owens had less of an individual spotlight than Biles due to her domination on all four gymnastics disciplines.

Frank Warren wants to see Anthony Joshua take on Daniel Dubois following their respective wins during the Day of Reckoning on December 23.

In the main event, AJ rolled back the years as he ruthlessly stopped Otto Wallin in five rounds in Ridyah, Saudi Arabia to set himself up for a big year in 2024.

Former WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder was supposed to be his next opponent – the long-time rivals had already signed to fight each other.

However, ‘The Bronze Bomber’ suffered a shocking upset loss to Joseph Parker in the co-main event, and Joshua is now left scoping the heavyweight ranks for a big-name opponent.

Warren thinks Dubois would be the perfect dance partner for Joshua.

“For me, [Dubois] could fight any of those guys in the top 10. Even AJ would be a good fight. I’d watch that all day long,” the Hall of Fame boxing promoter told talkSPORT Breakfast on Wednesday.

‘DDD’ bounced back from his KO defeat to Oleksandr Usyk by stopping previously unbeaten contender Jarrell Miller in the final seconds of their 10-round bout.

“I thought Daniel Dubois was brilliant,” Warren said.

“Absolutely magnificent. He proved to all his doubters that he does have heart in a tough, tough fight against a guy who is very good with his gamesmanship, was a tough, tough competitor and made him fight all the way.”

Many believed Dubois scored a legitimate knockdown when he fought Usyk in August, but the referee called it a low blow and the Englishman faced quitting claims after being counted out in round nine.

Warren added: “He needed a confidence booster.”

“That fight with Usyk, he gave Usyk his toughest fight. He hurt him to the body, and, for me, that was a legitimate punch, and the referee giving him more than four minutes to recover was ridiculous.

“That fight is gone, and he got a lot of stick afterwards about his desire, and whether he really wants to be at the top level.

“Well, he showed that he does because that was a tough fight. He had to dig deep. He had to grit his teeth, and he did all those things.”

Joshua’s main goal is to become a three-time world heavyweight champion.

Filip Hrgovic, the IBF mandatory challenger, appears to be his quickest route back to glory and is the first name AJ mentioned during his post-fight press conference.

Dubois is certainly a more well-known opponent and could provide Joshua with the big payday he missed out on when Wilder suffered his third career defeat.

Only time will tell if Warren will be able to make the fight happen.

Mike Tyson gave a typically humble response after Deontay Wilder boldly claimed he would “kick the hell” out of a prime version of ‘The Baddest Man on the Planet’.

Wilder, who recently slumped to a unanimous decision against Joseph Parker after surviving a barrage of overhand rights and left hooks, previously bragged about the idea of beating a younger ‘Iron’ Mike.

Back in 2018, when TMZ specifically asked then-WBC heavyweight champion Wilder if he would stand a chance against Tyson, he responded: “Yes.”

‘The Bronze Bomber’ then went on to claim that he fears no heavyweight, past or present. “Me vs Tyson in ’86, I’d kick the hell outta that guy,” he said without hesitation.

“Listen, I’ve got to keep it real. I know people always go back to the old school or look at the new school and there’s no school where I’m not No 1 on Earth.”

Two years later and Tyson responded to Wilder’s bold claim. Speaking to TNT Sports, he said he was unsure if the Alabama-born fighter would have beaten him but admired the 38-year-old’s confidence.

“I don’t know [whether I’d beat him],” he said. “I love the fact that he thinks that, because that’s the way I would think as well.

“He’s supposed to think that way, he is the heavyweight champion of the world and that’s something very special.”

Tyson certainly remained humble in front of the BT cameras but back in 2018, he was once again asked if Wilder could have beaten him in a fight. “I don’t think so,” he replied.

Former British heavyweight champion Lennox Lewis was far more vocal in his response to Deontay Wilder’s comments.

“I just heard Deontay Wilder said he would destroy a young Mike Tyson,” he said.

“My thoughts are that it’s easy to talk until you actually get in the ring. I like Wilder but he’s never been in there with someone that ferocious who truly wants to break his ribs with every punch. I don’t see it.

“I love Wilder’s confidence… you need that to sit atop the heavyweight division… he’s hungry and shows up in probably best shape in division… but there’s levels to it… and he’s still adding to his arsenal.

“My best advice to the entire crop of young heavyweight champs is to focus on being the best of YOUR era! Out of respect and reality. It’s unprovable. Of course people asked, but I found no need to speculate or compare myself to my idol Ali or any other of the past greats.”

Lewis added: “History will decide your place among the all time greats… so go out there, clean up the division, defend your title, reign supreme and your work will speak for itself.”

Dmitriy Salita, promoter for undisputed middleweight champion Claressa Shields, has no issue with exploring the possibility of a rematch with Savannah Marshall, who holds three world titles at 168-pounds.

Marshall defeated Shields when they were amateurs. For Shields, it still remains as her only defeat as an amateur or pro.

Last October in London, they finally met in the pros, with Shields winning a unanimous decision to unify the middleweight division.

Marshall would later move up to 168 and defeat Franchon Crews-Dezurn to become the undisputed champion at 168. An injury, which prevented her from making a mandatory defense, has removed Marshall from the WBC belt – but she has the ability to force a rematch with Crews-Dezurn, who earlier this month captured the vacant WBC belt.

Despite the move in weight, Marshall is still chasing a rematch with Shields – an option her team is willing to consider.

“People keep asking me about the rematch with Savannah Marshall. It’s a fight that’s also natural because that rivalry is also a natural rivalry. It’s not manufactured. You don’t have to tell either fighter what to say, how to act, they genuinely dislike each other,” Salita said.

“Claressa travelled thousands of miles away from home to avenge that controversial loss as an amateur and she did it at the peak of her career. There’s not a lot of American fighters that in the peak of their career, who have been Olympic champions, have travelled to the country of their rival to fight them. Claressa did it and she won in spectacular fashion and gained tens and hundreds of thousands of fans abroad. A true world champion is what she is.”

Shields has a contract with MMA organization PFL.

Earlier this year, Marshall dipped her own foot in MMA waters by signing an agreement with PFL – which opens the door to have a rematch with Shields in another sport.

“Their rivalry’s so great whatever they do, if they play chess, people are going to want to see it,” Salita said.

“I believe 10 out of 10 times Claressa wins the fight but Savannah is a very good fighter. I believe that fight is always going to be entertaining and exciting. But Claressa keeps getting better, keeps getting stronger, her confidence is now on another level but we welcome the rematch. For the rematch, both have been victorious [since their last fight], we’re open to exploring it.”

The two-time Grand Slam winner, Simona Halep has been up against the wall since October 2022. Her last competitive match was in August last year at the US Open where she saw a surprise defeat to Ukraine’s Daria Snigur in the first round of the event. Talking about events, well, there has been a series of events in Halep’s life after that and her career is now under threat. How?

Recently, she gave an exclusive interview to ‘Paris Match’ where she shed light on the doping incident and proclaimed her innocence. What’s her version of facts and what does she look for in the future?

Simona Halep removes the curtain over the doping saga
The 32-year-old Romanian icon was provisionally suspended from all forms of competition in October 2022 after testing positive for a banned substance (Roxadustat). It is a substance that stimulates the production of hemoglobin and RBC in the blood to treat anemia related to chronic kidney diseases. Then a few months later, Halep was found guilty of a second separate offence by ITIA. It revealed she allegedly had irregularities in her biological passport.

Although Halep tried to prove her innocence several times, in September this year, she was handed a 4-year ban. Halep then appealed to the CAS against the ban. And, a few days back she got her hearing date, which will be in February next year.

Here’s what she said when asked about how all these happened. “My team recommended that I take a food supplement, collagen. I followed their advice and it turned out that the collagen was contaminated with roxadustat. The error comes from the laboratory whose food supplement was contaminated by a doping substance which had no reason to be there,” said Simona Halep.

However, a month back, her coach Patrick Mouratoglou (former coach of Serena Williams) took all the responsibilities of the ongoing doping saga. He admitted that his team had in fact provided the player with the allegedly contaminated collagen supplement. But Halep said her trust is now broken. She added it’ll be difficult for her to believe again in the judgment of her coaching team. What did she say about this?

Halep makes an admission over the ongoing incident
During the interview, the former number one was also asked if she had taken the collagen before. To this, Halep replied, “Never. It was the first time and I didn’t know the brand that was chosen by my team.” Now if the ban stands, she’ll be 35 years old when she’ll finally get the chance to play in competitive events. Will she be able to make a comeback at that age?

Well, the road will surely be difficult and even Halep knows that very well. But has she lost hope? Although she admitted that her career could possibly end if her appeal is unsuccessful. But, she isn’t ready to give up her hopes yet and is currently looking forward to the Paris Olympics in 2024.
