Wilder’s old coach believes a psychedelic medicine played a role in his old fighter missing out on a £100 million double bout

Deontay Wilder’s chances of landing handsomely-paid fights with Anthony Joshua were scuppered by Ayahuasca, according to the American’s former coach.

Wilder was on course to fight long-time rival Joshua in a £100 million two-fight series ahead of his defeat to Joseph Parker last December. Wilder produced a disastrous fight against Parker that scuppered the Joshua fights, and a former coach thinks he knows why.

Wilder’s old coach Malik Scott believes the use of psychedelic medicine Ayahuasca has played a role in Wilder’s reduced hunger for violence in the ring.

Scott told Instant Casino: “I think Deontay has a killer instinct in him that you can’t suppress, but I think he enjoyed Ayahuasca. I think that it possibly did not match the attitude needed in the ring.

“Because like he said, it made him a bit content and made him have an understanding of the smaller and softer things in life. And if you’re in that type of space then violence is not a top priority.

“But when you’re in a boxing ring violence has got to be [the] top priority. Violence wasn’t a top priority that night and I think that’s why we came up short. Deontay is a killer, he’s violent, he wants to put holes through you when he punches you, that Deontay didn’t show up that night, he couldn’t pull the trigger.”

The comeback
Wilder is now reportedly preparing to take on Zhilei Zhang, and Scott believes his old fighter will be a man reborn as he looks to get his career back on track.

“That’s not the fighter you’re going to see in his next fight,” he added. “He’s taken the initiative to start training way earlier. He knows our back is up against the wall and we know what we need to do.

“Everything is at stake, not his legacy, he’s already a legend, but concerning becoming two-time heavyweight champion, that part of his legacy is on the line now. I do not have less belief in him, it was just a bad night at the office, I’ve seen the best of them have those nights.

I've Put My Heart Back Into Boxing – Anthony Joshua

“Zhang is dangerous, but I’m very comfortable and happy with the fight because big Zhang is someone who makes you stay alert and makes you stay elusive.

“He’s a big man and he can punch but we know what we have to do to operate on him and do surgery on him and that’s what we are going to do.

“It’s going to be a surgical performance. What I really like about the fight is how dangerous Zhang is, a very dangerous opponent and that’s going to make Deontay even better.”

Alcaraz also has a chance to work his way into No. 1 battle

Jannik Sinner’s surge has been the biggest story of the 2024 season. As the clay-court season begins, the Italian has an opportunity to make even more history by making a push to pass Novak Djokovic and become the No. 1 player in the PIF ATP Rankings.

Novak Djokovic and Jannik Sinner are the top two players in the PIF ATP Rankings.

After winning the Miami Open presented by Itau, the 22-year-old on Monday climbed to a career-high World No. 2, 1,015 points behind World No. 1 Djokovic. If Sinner maintains his current form, he will have an opportunity to make his move later in the clay season, setting the stage for a tantalising battle for top spot with Djokovic and former World No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz looming.

“For sure it means a lot to me, but more importantly, it was a great performance for me, especially in that semi-final and final, which for me it’s more important,” Sinner said after defeating Grigor Dimitrov in the Miami final. “Being No. 2, it’s an amazing feeling. I never thought to come to this point. I come from a very normal family. My dad is still working, as my mom, too. For me, sport is one thing, and life is different. I’m very happy to be in this position.”

If you remove all points Djokovic (2,315) and Sinner (585) are defending during the clay season, Sinner has 715 more points (8,125 to 7,410). The critical moment in the battle will likely come at Roland Garros, where defending champion Djokovic will have 2,000 points coming off and Sinner will only drop 45 points following a second-round loss in 2023.

That does not mean that Djokovic can rest easy at No. 1 in the coming weeks. Among the upcoming tournaments are three clay-court ATP Masters 1000 events, with plenty of points up for grabs.

Sinner will be confident heading into the clay season after his 22-1 start to the year. The 22-year-old’s only loss came in the Indian Wells semi-finals against Carlos Alcaraz. He has won titles at the Australian Open, Rotterdam and Miami.

With that start, the Italian has already become the highest-ranked player from his country in PIF ATP Rankings history (since 1973). Now he will set his sights set on becoming the 29th player to reach World No. 1.

Djokovic will not relinquish his position without a fight, though. The 36-year-old just began his record 419th week at the top of men’s tennis and on Sunday will break Roger Federer’s mark as the oldest World No. 1 in history.

The Serbian owns an 8-3 record in 2024, including his run to the Australian Open semi-finals, where he lost to Sinner in four sets. Despite a third-round loss at Indian Wells, Djokovic will be confident heading into Monte-Carlo, where he is a two-time champion and will try to claim his record-extending 41st Masters 1000 trophy. He has won more than 80 per cent of his tour-level matches on clay according to Infosys ATP Stats.

Alcaraz is still in the battle, too. The World No. 3, currently 65 points behind Sinner, is defending 2,265 points on clay. That puts the Spaniard on the back foot, but last year’s Madrid and Barcelona champion has proven his prowess on clay and showed his return to form at Indian Wells, where he successfully defended his trophy.

Alcaraz first reached World No. 1 after the 2022 US Open and will be keen to add to the 36 weeks he has spent in the position.

“Putting in the work gives me mental and physical strength.”

Lindsey Vonn may have officially retired from skiing, but the Olympic athlete still trains hard and takes care of herself. Vonn, 39, shared a video of herself wearing black leggings and a cropped gray shirt, doing a barbell workout in her home gym. “Is it worth it…. Yeah it is… putting in the work gives me mental and physical strength. And I believe you are strong enough too 💪🏻 So ask yourself… is it worth it?” she captioned the inspiring post. Here’s what Vonn’s health and wellness routine looks like these days.

1 Morning Workouts

Vonn starts her day by taking her dogs for a walk. “And then I kind of start into my routine, wash my face, and make breakfast,” she told The Zoe Report. “If I’m lucky, I’ll have the time to work out or go skiing. Now that I’m sleeping better, I’m able to do those things in the morning. Before, I was too tired and I would always procrastinate my exercise until later in the day, because I just didn’t have the energy in the morning. But now I can do pretty much everything in the morning.”

2 Plant-Based Diet

Vonn is not vegan but tries to enjoy a more plant-based diet. “I love the idea of getting protein from plants,” she told Vancouver Sun. “I think it’s so beneficial to the environment. I think it’s exactly what the world needs right now — and it tastes good. There really is no downside.”

3 Focusing On Rest

Vonn was suffering from a severe lack of rest before retiring in 2019. “I, for a long time just wasn’t getting what I needed,” she told The Zoe Report. “I think everything came to a head when I retired and I was forced to address it. I actually went to a doctor and I was prescribed [insomnia medication] Quviviq, and it’s been helping me sleep more. [Now] I’m more rested and I have more energy. I wish that I had had that as an athlete because I think it would’ve done wonders for my recovery [from various surgeries and injuries] and how I performed, but at least I have it now.”

4 Free Diving Vacations

Vonn is a big fan of free diving, especially in exotic far-flung locations. “I love free diving — it’s very meditative as well,” she told The Zoe Report. “It’s one of those things where you have to be so focused. Kind of like skiing, where you’re focused on one thing, but it’s physically very demanding as well. There’s a lot of precision that’s involved. I don’t know. I love it. Being in the water is very quiet.”

5 Resistance Band Workouts

Vonn travels with resistance bands for a convenient workout wherever she is. “Sometimes I’ll be in some remote place in Europe, where they don’t even have televisions let alone a gym,” she told SELF. “So it’s good to keep [the bands] with me all the time, just in case I get into a bind.”

Frederic Vasseur has been warned that he may live to regret bringing Lewis Hamilton to Ferrari.

Ferrari boss Frederic Vasseur has been warned that he may have jumped the gun by ditching Carlos Sainz in favor of Lewis Hamilton. The Brit will partner Charles Leclerc from next season onwards, leaving Sainz without a drive for 2025 despite being one of the best performers on the grid this year.

Sainz has finished on the podium in every race he has competed in this season, claiming third place in Bahrain before winning the Australian Grand Prix. His victory came just two weeks after he was forced to sit out of the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, where he was replaced by Oliver Bearman after undergoing surgery to remove his appendix.

Hamilton, meanwhile, is enduring his worst start to a season in recent memory having finished no higher than seventh after the opening three races. Former F1 driver Christian Danner has warned that Sainz’s impressive form is ‘messing everything up’ at Ferrari, who he believes might live to regret their decision to replace him with Hamilton.

“If you want Hamilton, you’ve kept the wrong one because he [Sainz] is faster, but that’s highly political,” Danner told MotorsportMagazin. “He [Vasseur] should have waited a little longer. It wasn’t a necessity. I wouldn’t blame Lewis for stumbling at the moment, but one thing is clear.

“Sainz in this kind of form, when he has Leclerc under control like this, you can say that he [Vasseur] perhaps made his decision too early. Sainz is approaching it with a commitment, a joy and an aggressiveness. I really like that. It also requires a fervent attitude: ‘Now it’s me and no one else’.

“You can see it not only in his eyes, but in every corner and at the moment, Carlos Sainz is messing everything up at Ferrari. First of all, you’ve signed the wrong driver for next year. Hamilton is behind, he’s [Sainz] much better.”

Sainz will be replaced by Hamilton next year no matter what he does this season

Sainz is likely to attract plenty of interest from other teams ahead of next season thanks to his impressive start to the current campaign. He has already been linked with a move to Stake, who will become the Audi works team in 2026, but it has also been speculated that he could join Red Bull if Sergio Perez is relieved of his duties.

Christian Horner refused to rule out the possibility of moving for Sainz after his impressive victory in Australia, saying: “We want to field the best pairing we can with Red Bull Racing so sometimes you have got to look outside the pool as well.

“The market is reasonably fluid in certain parts. I mean, based on a performance like that, you couldn’t rule any possibility out so I think we just want to take the time.”

Simone Biles is about to hit the ground running once again. Speculations are there that the queen of gymnastics is about to make a comeback, at least if the latest reports around her season debut in the USA Gymnastics women’s national team camp are to be believed. The camp is going to be an opportunity for the gymnasts to fix their berths for the Pacific Rim Championship. The former event is scheduled for tomorrow in Katy, Texas, and will be concluded on April 4th.

Biles’ fans were left saddened after she decided not to compete in the Winter Cup this year, which was anticipated to be her 2024 season opener. The gymnastics community will be graced by Simone Biles scintillating routines once again if she comes back tomorrow to compete. As anticipation mounts and adrenaline surges, fans eagerly await their superstar’s return as a video of her pulling out some effortless maneuvers goes viral prior to the event.

Simone Biles: Turning the extraordinary into a piece of cake
The video was shared by Interesting as f**k on their Reddit handle, in which Simone Biles, as per her typical reputation, is performing some electrifying floor exercise routines. The footage captioned “Simone Biles is nothing less than superhuman” looks to be taken from the US Olympic team trials. Upon landing, she elevates her hand in her distinctive manner, marking yet another signature moment

The event will witness around 18 athletes from the United States battling it out against some of the best global gymnasts. The competition is scheduled to kick off from April 21st to April 28th in Cali, Colombia, and the City of Jesolo Trophy on April 20th and 21st in Jesolo, Italy. Fans would have their fingers crossed as they have been waiting forever to see Biles perform, and their appreciation for the Ohio-based icon in the earlier mentioned video speaks volumes about their love for the Olympian.

Simona Halep withdrew from her Billie Jean King Cup match, which was scheduled for April 12–13, 2024. This was her first match back in Romania following her doping ban, which the CAS shortened from four years to nine months. However, the Romanian Tennis Federation recently declared that Simona Halep will not be able to represent Romania against the Ukrainian team.

Halep, who has a reputation for overcoming obstacles with fortitude and determination, clearly had a difficult time deciding to withdraw from the BJK Cup. But putting her health and wellbeing first is crucial. Her choice shows that she is handling her professional and personal well-being with much attention.

Simona Halep withdraws from the BJK Cup due to medical reasons
Unfortunately, according to an official Romanian account on X, Simona is unable to compete for the Romanian national team. This is because of some physical issues that resulted from her participation in the Miami tournament. After considering her health, this decision was made following a consultation with the medical team. The non-playing captain of Romania’s Fed Cup squad, Horia Tecău, highlighted Simona’s experience and role in the national team’s success and said, “Simona’s experience is invaluable for us, and although we will miss her in this match, we are confident in her strength and talent to our team.”

Horia further wished Halep a rapid recovery and added, “We look forward to having Simona back for future matches and wish her a speedy and full recovery. I wish her to be physically well and continue to enjoy tennis.”

After competing in the Miami Open last week, the former World No. 1 player, has stated that she is unsure about her future tournaments. While the specific cause of her injury remains unknown, fans will deeply feel her absence in the tournament. She was absent from tennis for more than a year. She had an extremely difficult phase following her ban in 2022.

Delving into the dark times of Halep’s career
Tragically, Simona Halep’s tennis career was devastated by a doping scandal, leading to a four-year suspension in 2022-2023. At the US Open in 2022, Halep tested positive for Roxadustat. According to news reports, it was a banned blood booster. The anomalies in Halep’s Athlete Biological Passport (ABP) caused the second violation.

She challenged the suspension and filed an appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sports, asking for a lighter term. Following a thorough analysis of the data, CAS declared that a tainted supplement was the reason Roxadustat was discovered in her system. As a result, the tribunal decided that Halep had “no significant fault or negligence”. The ban was reduced to nine months. Very soon, she got the wildcard for the Miami Open and made her comeback.

However, fate had its own call, as she had to withdraw from the Billie Jean King Cup match.

There are 18 holes left until golf fans know who will win the inaugural Ford Championship.

Some of the most famous names in women’s golf crowd the top of the leaderboard, trying to take home the $337,500 prize for first place.

Lexi Thompson, Nelly Korda Ford Championship

Lexi Thompson and Nelly Korda are among 10 women within two shots of the leaders entering the final round. Solheim Cup hero Carlota Ciganda, Hyo Joo Kim and Sarah Schmelzel sit at 15-under to hold the lead heading into Sunday.

Seville Golf and Country Club’s course had the weather on their side for Saturday’s round.

“It was brutal,” Korda said. “Played like a completely different golf course. The wind started picking up at noon and got progressively windier as the day went on. It’s very open out here, so the ball gets hit hard with this weather. Happy to get in at 3-under.”

Thompson expressed a similar sentiment to her round on Saturday.

“Felt good with overall the windy conditions. With my score, I’ll definitely take it,” Thompson said. “Some of the holes out there you just have to take your par and run. There were some gettable holes that you need to birdie and take advantage of those. It was hard out there.”

Korda is in contention to win her third straight LPGA event after she shot a 3-under 69 on moving day.

She recorded four birdies and one bogey. The World No. 1 golfer had a chance on 18 to record a 4-under but had to settle for par.

Meanwhile, Thompson is looking for her best finish of 2024. She also fired off a third-round 3-under 69. She made the turn at even par and picked up some momentum with three birdies down the stretch.

They aren’t the only heavy hitters in contention.

Lilia Vu is three shots off the leaders at 12-under. She recorded a 5-under 67 on Saturday, pushing her up 45 places on the leaderboard. Lydia Ko is among the 10 ladies at 13-under after her 2-under 70 in round three. With one win under her belt, she looks to join Korda as a multi-winner in 2024.

Nelly Korda wins 2024 Ford Championship, third straight win on LPGA

Ciganda tallied two eagles, three birdies and two bogeys on Saturday, which helped propel her up 22 spots to co-lead.

There are 20 women within a few shots of the leaders. Who will go low on Sunday to take home the inaugural Ford Championship crown? Could Nelly add to her already incredible start to 2024, or will it be someone else?

Following the divorce, Nordegren found happiness with former NFL tight end Jordan Cameron

More than a decade has passed since the high-profile divorce between Tiger Woods and Elin Nordegren, a split that captivated the world’s attention.

Yet, time has shown that even the most explosive endings can pave the way for new beginnings, especially when it comes to the well-being of children.

Today, Woods and Nordegren stand as a testament to the power of amicable co-parenting, having moved beyond their tumultuous past to support their children together.

The essence of their transformed relationship was captured in Florida earlier this week, where both Woods and Nordegren came together to celebrate their son, Charlie, as he received state accolades for his high school achievements.

The sight of these proud parents, smiling and united in support of their son, offered a stark contrast to the public’s last collective memory of their relationship.

Nordegren’s presence at Charlie’s golf events, including a recent pre-qualifier for the Cognizant Classic, further underscores this united front.

A source close to Nordegren shared insights with People magazine, revealing the nature of their current relationship.

“They’re friends now. Everything that happened in the past is in the past,” the source explained. This sentiment reflects a mutual decision to prioritize their roles as parents above all, fostering a harmonious environment for their children.

The respect they hold for each other in their current capacities is evident, with Woods reportedly speaking highly of Nordegren and both parents receiving equal adoration from their children.

Following the divorce, Nordegren found happiness with former NFL tight end Jordan Cameron, expanding her family with three more children.

This development aligns with her long-held aspiration for a large family, with the source describing her current life as living her “sweetest dream.”

From tension to friendship
The journey from a high-profile split, marked by Woods’s admission of infidelity in 2010, to a peaceful co-parenting arrangement did not happen overnight.

What happens when Drake shows up at your birthday party? The party would have been grand, and everyone must have had a great night. However, it seems Shakur Stevenson has to make a case for his birthday party, as he goes back and forth in a hilarious clip defending his “big” party. Even Claressa Shields couldn’t control her laughter when she watched the clip. What exactly happened?

Stevenson, 26, is enjoying his time off the ring. While the American is itching to return to the square circle, he continues to appear on podcasts and in interviews. When he sat down with Funny Marco, the conversation always hit a funny note. The host darted a question about his birthday and his party but soon pointed out that having Drake at the party didn’t make the party big. So, what exactly were the criteria that Funny Marco set?

Claressa Shield left in splits over Shakur Stevenson’s funny clip
“Sh*t Drake was there,” Stevenson, at 21-0, replied when the host inquired how big his party was. But the latter soon asked whether there were “big girls.” The lightweight boxer responded, “Big girls? No, I don’t. I ain’t see no big girls there.” That disappointed Marco, as he then labeled the party a “little party.”

However, the Newark native pleaded his case, called his party big, and mentioned that there were “a lot of people.” But Marco hit back. He said, “Definitely small.” As Stevenson again clarified that there were many people, the host specified there were “small people.” The two could later be seen talking about how fast the WBC lightweight champion was and how he could hit the host because of his reflexes.

But how Stevenson responded to Funny Marco’s questions had Claressa Shields in laughter. She turned to her Instagram handle and shared the clip on her story. Calling him a “baby,” she captioned the story, “LOL BABY BRO @SHAKURSTEVENSON.”

Shields and Stevenson share a close bond. She has come to Stevenson’s defense multiple times and hailed him as the next Floyd Mayweather. Stevenson is currently gearing up for his next fight. Meanwhile, Shields recently returned to MMA and bagged a split-decision win against Kelsey De Santis.

Who is Stevenson fighting next?
The lightweight boxer is rumored to make his first title defense against Artem Harutyunyan. Interestingly, the Armenian boxer is coming into the fight with a year-long layoff and a unanimous decision loss against Frank Martin. Therefore, the supposed fight has already raised quite a few eyebrows.

Moreover, this fight will end Stevenson’s contract with Top Rank and Bob Arum. It remains to be seen whether he can redeem himself after his last dismal performance against Edwin De Los Santos and which promotion he joins next.

What do you make of this amusing comment by Claressa Shields about Shakur Stevenson and the latter’s justification for his birthday party? Let us know in the comments below.
