Retired Mexican professional boxer and world lightweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez is a legend of the sport. He had been one of the longest undefeated boxers, with 89 wins and 1 draw and no losses to his name until American Frankie Randall defeated him. Chavez, who is also known as ‘Cacho’, additionally holds the world record for having the most fans at a boxing event.

However, talking of great boxers, a name that never fails to come up is Floyd Mayweather Jr, who is one of the most renowned boxers today. Much like Chavez, Mayweather boasts an undefeated record with 50 wins and no losses or draws. The parallels between him and Chavez as two greats call for a comparison. In a recent interview with 1on1 Boxing News, Chavez finally gave his opinion on who would beat who against Mayweather. Let us see what he has to say.

What are the chances of Julio Cesar Chavez beating Floyd Mayweather?
In the interview, Julio Cesar Chavez was asked a hypothetical question, which put him against Floyd Mayweather. Without any delay, the former provided his honest opinion, saying, “At 135lbs, 140, I think I’d have beaten Mayweather, not at another weight because I never made 147lbs.” He believes that his chances lie in his natural weight, and he has always fought at 135 or 140 pounds. So it is not a surprise that he is most comfortable there.

Julio Cesar Chavez further mentioned, “My natural weight was 140lbs or 135. That’s where I could have beaten him.” Chavez’s experience has given him more than enough opportunities to find out about his strengths and weaknesses. His ability to know and acknowledge Mayweather’s prowess even after 18 years of retirement proves that he is a fighter through and through. Does Mayweather share similar thoughts?

On the contrary, here’s what Floyd Mayweather says about facing Julio Cesar Chavez
Although Mayweather has retired from professional boxing, he does enjoy a few exhibition fights here and there. However, he realizes that facing an influencer is not the same as facing the legends of the sport. For this one reason, Floyd Mayweather turned down a chance to fight Chavez. He said, “Julio Cesar Chavez is a legend; I take my hat off to him.“

Mayweather further said, “Yesterday, when we were on stage, I told him he’s a legend; guys like Julio Cesar Chavez, Roberto Duran, Larry Holmes paved the way; they paved the way for me to get to where I am.” Chavez had defeated Mayweather’s uncle, Roger Mayweather. It is only right that he give respect to him rather than put up the gloves against him for an exhibition fight.

There were rumors of a possible exhibition fight between the two. However, it never materialized. While one stays undefeated for the time to come and another suffers his first loss after 90 bouts, who do you think comes out on top? Let us know in the comments below.

Frank Warren wants to see Anthony Joshua take on Daniel Dubois following their respective wins during the Day of Reckoning on December 23.

In the main event, AJ rolled back the years as he ruthlessly stopped Otto Wallin in five rounds in Ridyah, Saudi Arabia to set himself up for a big year in 2024.

Former WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder was supposed to be his next opponent – the long-time rivals had already signed to fight each other.

However, ‘The Bronze Bomber’ suffered a shocking upset loss to Joseph Parker in the co-main event, and Joshua is now left scoping the heavyweight ranks for a big-name opponent.

Warren thinks Dubois would be the perfect dance partner for Joshua.

“For me, [Dubois] could fight any of those guys in the top 10. Even AJ would be a good fight. I’d watch that all day long,” the Hall of Fame boxing promoter told talkSPORT Breakfast on Wednesday.

‘DDD’ bounced back from his KO defeat to Oleksandr Usyk by stopping previously unbeaten contender Jarrell Miller in the final seconds of their 10-round bout.

“I thought Daniel Dubois was brilliant,” Warren said.

“Absolutely magnificent. He proved to all his doubters that he does have heart in a tough, tough fight against a guy who is very good with his gamesmanship, was a tough, tough competitor and made him fight all the way.”

Many believed Dubois scored a legitimate knockdown when he fought Usyk in August, but the referee called it a low blow and the Englishman faced quitting claims after being counted out in round nine.

Warren added: “He needed a confidence booster.”

“That fight with Usyk, he gave Usyk his toughest fight. He hurt him to the body, and, for me, that was a legitimate punch, and the referee giving him more than four minutes to recover was ridiculous.

“That fight is gone, and he got a lot of stick afterwards about his desire, and whether he really wants to be at the top level.

“Well, he showed that he does because that was a tough fight. He had to dig deep. He had to grit his teeth, and he did all those things.”

Joshua’s main goal is to become a three-time world heavyweight champion.

Filip Hrgovic, the IBF mandatory challenger, appears to be his quickest route back to glory and is the first name AJ mentioned during his post-fight press conference.

Dubois is certainly a more well-known opponent and could provide Joshua with the big payday he missed out on when Wilder suffered his third career defeat.

Only time will tell if Warren will be able to make the fight happen.

Mike Tyson gave a typically humble response after Deontay Wilder boldly claimed he would “kick the hell” out of a prime version of ‘The Baddest Man on the Planet’.

Wilder, who recently slumped to a unanimous decision against Joseph Parker after surviving a barrage of overhand rights and left hooks, previously bragged about the idea of beating a younger ‘Iron’ Mike.

Back in 2018, when TMZ specifically asked then-WBC heavyweight champion Wilder if he would stand a chance against Tyson, he responded: “Yes.”

‘The Bronze Bomber’ then went on to claim that he fears no heavyweight, past or present. “Me vs Tyson in ’86, I’d kick the hell outta that guy,” he said without hesitation.

“Listen, I’ve got to keep it real. I know people always go back to the old school or look at the new school and there’s no school where I’m not No 1 on Earth.”

Two years later and Tyson responded to Wilder’s bold claim. Speaking to TNT Sports, he said he was unsure if the Alabama-born fighter would have beaten him but admired the 38-year-old’s confidence.

“I don’t know [whether I’d beat him],” he said. “I love the fact that he thinks that, because that’s the way I would think as well.

“He’s supposed to think that way, he is the heavyweight champion of the world and that’s something very special.”

Tyson certainly remained humble in front of the BT cameras but back in 2018, he was once again asked if Wilder could have beaten him in a fight. “I don’t think so,” he replied.

Former British heavyweight champion Lennox Lewis was far more vocal in his response to Deontay Wilder’s comments.

“I just heard Deontay Wilder said he would destroy a young Mike Tyson,” he said.

“My thoughts are that it’s easy to talk until you actually get in the ring. I like Wilder but he’s never been in there with someone that ferocious who truly wants to break his ribs with every punch. I don’t see it.

“I love Wilder’s confidence… you need that to sit atop the heavyweight division… he’s hungry and shows up in probably best shape in division… but there’s levels to it… and he’s still adding to his arsenal.

“My best advice to the entire crop of young heavyweight champs is to focus on being the best of YOUR era! Out of respect and reality. It’s unprovable. Of course people asked, but I found no need to speculate or compare myself to my idol Ali or any other of the past greats.”

Lewis added: “History will decide your place among the all time greats… so go out there, clean up the division, defend your title, reign supreme and your work will speak for itself.”

Dmitriy Salita, promoter for undisputed middleweight champion Claressa Shields, has no issue with exploring the possibility of a rematch with Savannah Marshall, who holds three world titles at 168-pounds.

Marshall defeated Shields when they were amateurs. For Shields, it still remains as her only defeat as an amateur or pro.

Last October in London, they finally met in the pros, with Shields winning a unanimous decision to unify the middleweight division.

Marshall would later move up to 168 and defeat Franchon Crews-Dezurn to become the undisputed champion at 168. An injury, which prevented her from making a mandatory defense, has removed Marshall from the WBC belt – but she has the ability to force a rematch with Crews-Dezurn, who earlier this month captured the vacant WBC belt.

Despite the move in weight, Marshall is still chasing a rematch with Shields – an option her team is willing to consider.

“People keep asking me about the rematch with Savannah Marshall. It’s a fight that’s also natural because that rivalry is also a natural rivalry. It’s not manufactured. You don’t have to tell either fighter what to say, how to act, they genuinely dislike each other,” Salita said.

“Claressa travelled thousands of miles away from home to avenge that controversial loss as an amateur and she did it at the peak of her career. There’s not a lot of American fighters that in the peak of their career, who have been Olympic champions, have travelled to the country of their rival to fight them. Claressa did it and she won in spectacular fashion and gained tens and hundreds of thousands of fans abroad. A true world champion is what she is.”

Shields has a contract with MMA organization PFL.

Earlier this year, Marshall dipped her own foot in MMA waters by signing an agreement with PFL – which opens the door to have a rematch with Shields in another sport.

“Their rivalry’s so great whatever they do, if they play chess, people are going to want to see it,” Salita said.

“I believe 10 out of 10 times Claressa wins the fight but Savannah is a very good fighter. I believe that fight is always going to be entertaining and exciting. But Claressa keeps getting better, keeps getting stronger, her confidence is now on another level but we welcome the rematch. For the rematch, both have been victorious [since their last fight], we’re open to exploring it.”

Despite Claressa Shields‘ formidable reputation as one of the greatest female fighters, a recent sparring session clip has stirred attention due to an unexpected moment. In the video, Shields, known for her toughness and durability, found herself on the canvas courtesy of a left hook from a male sparring partner. The surprising footage has garnered significant views, sparking discussions within the combat sports community.

Shields, who has excelled in both boxing and MMA, showcases the unpredictable nature of training sessions. She explained the reason behind her knockdown. Moreover, she conveyed how she aims to learn from it and evolve as it’s all part of the process. However, she has expressed her fury at the boxing coach Derik Santos, who played a hands-on role in the session.

Claressa Shields was prevented from committing an atrocity by another coach
In her recent Instagram Live, she addressed the entire situation and how she doesn’t care much about getting dropped during a sparring session. The video dates back to 2018. Arturs Ahmetovs decided to release it online. During the session, he and his coach Derik Santos decided to take the padding off from their gloves, which potentially even posed a threat to Shields’ life.

The Michigan-born boxer stated, “I don’t give a f**k about being dropped. But what I will say is, when a motherf***er try to cheat me, you got me f**ked up. And yes, I ran to my car and I grabbed my knife and I was going to cut Derik Santos. And guess who stopped me? Coach John.” She admitted that she was furious about the conspiracy Santos and his pugilist had planned against her.

Claressa also pointed out that she’s grateful she didn’t take that step because it’d have ruined her career. The situation was treated in a grave manner by her and she even addressed it on X, with a series of posts.

Shields had dredged up the past to explain the situation before too
Before hopping on Instagram Live, Claressa Shields had tried to uncover the truth through her posts on X. Contrary to initial perceptions, Shields clarified that the clip is actually five years old, and its emergence in the public eye is only happening now. She said that the timing of its release appears to be a strategic move aimed at gaining relevance and clout.

Ahmetovs, holding onto it for years, has not disclosed the reason for bringing it to light at this particular moment. So, soon after its release, Shields wrote, “One thing for sure, if I went public 2018 about how this fellow professional boxer & boxing trainer took his padding out his gloves to sparr against me because I embarrassed him earlier that week, it would have jeopardized my upcoming world title fight.”

The GWOAT revealed the breaching of the rules of boxing by Ahmetovs and his coach. Also, after this incident, Claressa Shields never trained again with Santos. What are your thoughts about this? Let us know in the comments section down below.

When will Gervonta Davis come back to the ring? The Baltimore resident last appeared in the ring in April earlier this year against Ryan Garcia. While ‘Tank’ dominantly won the fight, tragedy struck as he was sentenced to 90 days in prison for a minor offense. Since then, the boxing community has been awaiting Davis’ return. While his return date is up in the air, Oscar De La Hoya proposed the next few steps that the WBA (Regular) lightweight champion should take.

While appearing in a recent interview with Fight Hub TV, Garcia’s promoter spoke highly about the 29-year-old. It’s worth mentioning that Davis is currently involved in a back-and-forth with Devin Haney, but it’s not worth putting one’s money on. So, as the wait continues, Oscar De La Hoya details what Davis needs to do next.

Oscar De La Hoya claims Gervonta Davis should fight the best
While speaking to Fight Hub TV, ‘Golden Boy’ claimed ‘Tank’ should fight a title holder and potentially try to unify all the belts in his division. “I think Tank now has to go after a world champion, you know, and maybe…he has to unify. Maybe Tank, yeah, and unification would be great,” said De La Hoya. He went on to suggest that his opponents have to be the best in the sport while claiming Davis has what it takes to defeat them.

“But obviously fighting the top dogs, you know, the best of the best, and it’s in him. I mean, Tank Davis is…a beast, man. He’s an amazing fighter,” said De La Hoya. The former champion concluded his suggestion by adding that Davis is an amazing fighter and would want to fight the best. While Oscar suggested Davis should try to unify the titles in the division, Teofimo Lopez named the only boxer who could beat Davis.

Teofimo Lopez claims Ryan Garcia is not an A+ boxer
When a boxer is unbeaten, it’s obvious for people to speculate who can potentially beat the fighter. The same goes for the formidable Gervonta Davis, considered the face of boxing right now. While appearing in a recent episode of Jaxxon Podcast, ‘The Takeover’ Lopez revealed the only boxer who stands a chance against ‘Tank’ Davis.

Gervonta Davis Knockouts: Big Fight Weekend Look at the Top 5

“The only one that gives him a challenge is Shakur. Shakur Stevenson will give him a challenge. Because Shakur is technical where you gotta really little bit think more. Tank has been fighting C to B class fighters. Ryan is an A+ on media, on the internet, but not as a boxer, we all know this,” said Lopez. While even Shakur Stevenson has expressed a desire to fight Tank in the past, it’s unlikely to happen anytime soon.

Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao have a rivalry that still burns strong to this day.

The boxing icons spent years linked to one another as fans debated a potential fight between them, with that question ultimately answered in 2015.

Mayweather and Pacquiao could not resist firing shots at one another

Mayweather outboxed Pacquiao and beat him by unanimous decision when their bout finally happened.

There was respect between them afterwards, but this did not fully end their rivalry.

Fast forward several years and the pair are both now retired from professional boxing.

Last year, Mayweather travelled to Japan for an exhibition contest against MMA fighter Mikuru Asakura, only for the organisers to bring Pacquiao out to promote the event also.

He attended the press conference prior the contest and sat next to Mayweather, prompting a remarkable exchange.

Floyd beat Manny in May 2015

It began when Pacquiao arrived and announced: “I’m here to support my boxer, Asakura.”

Mayweather gestured towards his old rival and said: “There’s no blueprint on how to beat Floyd Mayweather, he can tell you that himself.

“When we talk about Hall-of-Famer, he’s a Hall-of-Famer, but nobody has the blueprint on how to beat Floyd Mayweather.”

here had also been rumours that the exhibition organisers were hoping to arrange a rematch between the pair.

So Mayweather told Pacquiao: “Don’t let them trick you into getting your ass whooped again.”

Pacquiao was more mild-mannered in his response, but still got a few digs in.

“He’s older than me, I’m still young,” the Filipino icon said, before boasting of his accomplishments that his rival didn’t match.

“What I have done and accomplished in boxing is one of a kind, because to get eight different weight divisions is not that easy.

“I’m not trying to boast what I have accomplished in life, but I am just saying this to repeat in case you forget.”

In an incredibly unsubtle shot, Pacquiao added: “The best fighter in the world has humility.”

Manny Pacquiao - Wife, Record & Age

Mayweather did not heed this humility advice as he fired back: “When we talk about what’s going on inside that squared circle, I’m the best, no matter how you cut it or slice it.

“No matter if you go one hundred years back or three hundred years back all the way to now, there’s only one best and that’s Floyd Mayweather.”

In a boxing ring, where fists speak louder than words, Curmel Moton, Floyd Mayweather’s protégé, is making thunderous statements. Fresh off a dazzling first-round knockout against Hunter Turbyfill, Moton’s star is rapidly rising. But it’s not just his victories that are drawing eyes.

Floyd Mayweather shares message of support after Hamas attacks: 'I stand with Israel'

In a recent sparring session, Moton unleashed a spectacle so unusual it’s hard to ignore. Using only his left hand, he turned the ring into a canvas, painting a picture of dominance and skill. His mentor, Mayweather, might have been ringside, nodding in approval.

Left-handed lightning: Moton’s unconventional dominance
In the video, the arena pulsates with the rhythm of Curmel Moton’s one-handed mastery. From the moment the bell rings, it’s clear this is no ordinary sparring session. Moton, with a confidence echoing his mentor Mayweather, dominates with just his left hand. His jabs and hooks are precise, his dodging, near theatrical. Every move he makes is a testament to his burgeoning prowess in the ring.

The footage captures Moton landing relentless left-hand strikes. His control is evident, as he effortlessly parries and counters his opponent’s advances. This display isn’t just about strength; it’s a showcase of tactical acumen and raw talent, hallmarks of a Mayweather protégé.

Fans were quick to voice their awe. One fan comments, “He moves like money may,” drawing a direct lineage to Mayweather’s legacy. Another fan adds, “I haven’t seen reflexes like that in a while,” pointing out Moton’s exceptional agility. Another user shares a mix of admiration and curiosity: “He’s going to be very good. I just want to see how he does under pressure and can he take a punch.”

Not all reactions mirror this enthusiasm. One user challenged the quality of Moton’s opponent: “Yeah that’s fine…Now when are they gon show him sparring w/ somebody that can FIGHT??” And another user remains unimpressed, succinctly stating, “Not impressed.”

Despite the range of opinions, the video is a clear display of Moton’s skill and potential. His ability to control the fight with a single hand not only dazzles but also invites speculation about his future in the sport.

Curmel Moton to have his own card soon?
Mentored by Floyd Mayweather, he’s setting his sights high, aiming for championship titles within 13–14 fights, a plan slightly more ambitious than Mayweather’s own vision of 10–12 bouts. Moton’s recent fights, scheduled just after main events, have strategically boosted his visibility. Speaking about this, Moton enthused, “I like it, as soon as, every time I come out, there’s always a whole bunch of fans right there.”

Curmel Moton is Already Eager For a Fight With Leigh Wood - Boxing News

This growing fanbase, often clamoring for photos post-fight, signifies his rising star power. Moton, confidently looking ahead, hints at grander ambitions: “Man, eventually, I have my own card soon.” This blend of skill and charisma is rapidly propelling him from an undercard fighter to a main-event sensation.

From delivering a stunning one-handed beatdown in sparring to confidently climbing the ranks toward his own main event, Moton is not just fighting opponents; he’s winning over fans and critics alike. Will Moton continue to dazzle with his Mayweather-esque finesse and fulfill his ambitions of headlining his own card?

Floyd Mayweather is once again in the news following reports of a spar with Paul Spadafora that ended with no fight ever occurring.

An absurd claim that Mayweather turned down a $20 million offer to face Spadafora after they sparred has been roundly dismissed.

Why is 'Floyd Mayweather dead' trending? | The Sun

The revelation was placed on social media and immediately addressed by Mayweather Promotions’ Leonard Ellerbe.

Floyd’s right-hand man was irked that footage of Mayweather sparring with Spadafora was used as fodder for the rumor.

The clip showed Mayweather trading blows with Spadafora in 1999 when Floyd was around 20-0 and the WBC super featherweight champion.

Spadafora was undefeated also and in the mid-20s of his professional fight career. He held the IBF lightweight crown. They shared the ring briefly and only one time.

According to Ellerbe, “The Pittsburgh” kid was only a week away from a fight. Spadafora fought four times that year, giving the video a timestamp of the whole year.

In addition, Mayweather can be seen lying down after the round ended, giving anyone ample rhetoric to make assumptions about what went down.

However, one of the men in the room could give context to what happened between Mayweather and Spadafora.

As Floyd was weeks away from his return to action and only dusting off the cobwebs, the fitness levels between the pair were worlds apart, says Ellerbe.

Any notion of Spadaforda getting the best of Mayweather due to skill levels can be taken with a massive dose of salt.

“This generation is the worst with that crap,” blasted Ellerbe. “I used to go to Golden Gloves Gym with Roger [Mayweather] back in early 9os.

“I’ve seen some incredible sh- back then. Nobody said anything. It stayed in the gym. The key is, can you do that under those lights!”

$20 million offer
After watching the video, Ellerbe gave some perspective while blowing any notion of a $20 million offer out of the window.

Floyd Mayweather to face John Gotti III during Super Bowl weekend in Las Vegas: Will it end badly again? | Marca

“Some of you just say anything to get clicks. For starters, ain’t nobody offered Floyd no damn $20m to fight Spaddy.

“Secondly, they sparred once after Floyd’s first day back in the gym after being off for a few months [following a win over Angel Manfredy in September 2000].

“Look at [peep] him laying on the canvas. Get out of here and run that bs on somebody else!

“I was there. Spaddy was fighting the next week [he beat Irwin at Lawrence Convention Center in Pittsburgh]. Nobody ever recorded back in the day unless it was closed training.

“I’ve got some hella stories that will be in my book. I’ve seen it all, trust me.”

In addition, directly firing at the notion of money being laid down for a fight and turned away by Mayweather, Ellerbe stated: “You are lying, one hundred percent!

“Who made the official 20 million offer? What other times did they spar? I have a little time this morning. I’ll wait!”

The post was then deleted.

Floyd Mayweather has once again indulged himself with wheels by buying what he calls “one of my toys”. The former American boxer, who is used to show us from time to time his huge collection of cars (including Porsche, Ferrari, Lamborghini, McLaren, Rolls-Royce, Bentley, Maybach…) wanted to share on social networks his new McLaren 750 S Spider.

It is a car that breaks with what he usually accumulates in his garage.

Reaches 332 km/h
What does not change is that it is a supercar. The McLaren has a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine anchored to the rear of a carbon fiber monocoque structure.

The engine delivers 750 hp and 800 Nm of torque to the rear wheels, thanks to which it takes only 2.8 seconds to go from 0 to 100 and reaches a top speed of 332 km/h.

But why does he show it off? On occasions he has publicly stated that he shows his cars off to make his ‘haters’ envious, and on this occasion he has admitted that “I’m sorry, but I had to sting you all with this killer bee”.

Neither black nor white
More than just to tease (we want to assume), this multimillionaire who always appears spending huge amounts of money on clothes, jewelry and watches has shown it because he owns a huge amount of white or black cars.

But he has never (except once when he showed his first car, which was also yellow) been seen driving a car of another color. Mayweather acknowledges that he owns a couple of cars in these “crazy colors,” as he calls them.

In any case, the madness is the price of the car, and it is more than worth it: about 350,000 dollars.
