RIYADH: There’s an air of confidence in Lexi Thompson’s voice as she considers her chances at the Aramco Saudi Ladies International Presented by PIF.

Lexi Thompson poised to make an impact at Aramco Saudi Ladies International
Lexi Thompson will be buoyed by her positive performance at last year’s tournament, where she equalled a course record at Royal Greens Golf & Country Club.

With her second tournament of 2024 set to start in Riyadh on Thursday February 15, a relaxed Thompson was speaking to media – with the American chasing a first win since 2022.

After Alison Lee became the first American woman to win in Saudi Arabia back in 2023 at the Aramco Team Series Presented by PIF – Riyadh, Thompson is hoping to be next in-line to claim a trophy in the country.

“I wasn’t here in October, but I did hear that it’s playing a bit differently, a little bit more length, and then the wind, which I think will play a big factor on the golf course.”

“It’s a great layout, it definitely involves a lot of thinking, I think going into the greens, a few of the tee shots are definitely on the wider side, but some of them neck up in certain areas.

“It’s a thinking golf course. But especially with the wind that we’re expecting, gusts of 25 to 30 miles per hour, you just have to trust your lines off the tees and really commit out there.”

Thompson will be buoyed by her positive performance at last year’s tournament, where she equalled a course record at Royal Greens Golf & Country Club, helping on her way to a T3 finish — missing out by just three strokes to Lydia Ko.

But rather than pile the pressure on herself, Thompson has been taking it all in her stride, even when a humpbacked hazard arrived on the golf course.

“Getting to see two camels out on the course? You certainly don’t get to see that every day in a Pro-Am. I’m enjoying the whole experience. I think all the girls are and it’s an amazing field this week and I think it just speaks wonders to the tournament.”

Two PGA Tour pros played with Lexi Thompson. What'd they think?

With a strong field set to include previous champions Georgia Hall and Emily Pedersen, as well World No. 8 Charley Hull, it’s certainly going to be a battle for Lexi Thompson out in the desert.

But with a renewed optimism, and the desire to capture some of last year’s magic, there’s hope for Thompson that 2024 can start in the best possible way, and claim the mammoth $5m USD prize fund.

“It’s my number one goal to win the tournament. I’m just going to take one shot at a time, fully commit to each and every shot, and see where it takes me.”

  • Aramco Saudi Ladies International Presented by PIF set for 15-18 February 2024

This year’s Aramco Saudi Ladies International Presented by PIF boasts a star-studded field of Major winners, Solheim Cup heroes, and golf’s rising stars as Lexi Thompson, Carlota Ciganda and Trichat Cheenglab top the billing.

Lexi Thompson Famous Golf Star is Single or Married?

As Riyadh continues to become the Kingdom’s cultural and sporting hub, the Aramco Saudi Ladies International Presented by PIF will make its debut in the capital. The event continues to set the standard globally with a prize purse of $5 million USD, which equals the payout of the men’s PIF Saudi International. This marks a significant milestone in golf, as it stands as the largest event to achieve pay parity between the men’s and women’s equivalent competitions.

Major winner Lexi Thompson narrowly missed out on the chance to lift the Aramco Saudi Ladies International Presented by PIF trophy in 2023. Two-time Major winner, Lydia Ko, finished two shots ahead of Thompson to seal the title as the American finished T3, alongside Lilia Vu and Manon De Roey.

No stranger to performing under pressure, Thompson was thrust into the limelight at just 12 years old, when she became the youngest player to compete in the US Women’s Open. The American will tee it up in Riyadh with her eyes set on the Kingdom’s most prestigious women’s golf title, and her third Ladies European Tour (LET) win.

On returning to Saudi Arabia, Lexi Thompson remarked: “The Aramco Saudi Ladies International signifies a significant step forward in advancing the sport, not just in Saudi Arabia but on a global scale, and it’s a privilege to be part of an event that advocates for equal prize funds in golf.

“My determination is stronger than ever to exceed my 2023 finish and secure my first Aramco Saudi Ladies International title, this time at a new course for me, and a new city in Riyadh.”

Thompson will be joined in the field by Solheim Cup rival, Carlota Ciganda, the Spanish sensation who had an unforgettable 2023, recording a T3 finish in the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship and sinking the winning putt in her home country to retain the Solheim Cup title for Team Europe.

Golf Saudi ambassador Carlota Ciganda looks to replicate her previous triumph at Riyadh Golf Club

Back in October, Ciganda led her team to victory at the Aramco Team Series Presented by PIF – Riyadh with a staggering –43 at Riyadh Golf Club and is now looking to add a first Aramco Saudi Ladies International Presented by PIF trophy to her impressive collection, which includes the Aramco Team Series Presented by PIF – Florida individual trophy.

With an eye on achieving even more in 2024, Carlota Ciganda said: “Riyadh Golf Club holds a special place in my heart, especially after leading my team to victory at the Aramco Team Series presented by PIF – Riyadh. Now, stepping back onto this course, I’m eager to channel that same energy and aim for another triumph.

“The continued prize fund equality with the men’s event is a testament to Golf Saudi’s commitment to elevating the game and driving pay parity across golf. This sets the stage for a future where gender equality in golf is not just an aspiration but a reality, and I am proud to be part of an event that advocates for equality in golf.”

Emerging Thai star, Trichat Cheenglab, joins the events roster after cementing her name on the LET in her first season on the Tour last year. The Race to Costa del Sol champion and Rookie of the Year 2023 will challenge the world’s best at her first Aramco Saudi Ladies International Presented by PIF event.

Carlota Ciganda DQ'd from Amundi Evian for signing incorrect scorecard

Trichat Cheenglab, the 2023 LET Order of Merit winner, expressed: “Joining the lineup is an honour, and I am excited to compete at my first Aramco Saudi Ladies International. It’s a prestigious event with a prize fund that is driving conversations in sport forwards. I am here to make my mark, learn from the best, and contribute to the vibrant tapestry of women’s golf in Saudi Arabia.”

The Aramco Saudi Ladies International Presented by PIF remains at the forefront of setting new benchmarks in the golf world, exemplifying Saudi Arabia’s ongoing commitment to fostering the growth and global recognition of women’s sports. The stage is set for the sport’s best to engage in a fierce competition to claim the historic prize purse.

The 2024 LPGA season is on a small break! But don’t think that there is any less action happening in the lives of female pros! A lot of new stuff is happening in the golf world, just outside the greens. Like how Tiger Woods asked Nelly Korda to hit a ‘Kisser Cut’ and how Jessica Korda recently became a mommy golfer. Another LPGA star doing a lot in her off-season is Lexi Thompson!

The American golfer played only one LPGAT event this year and earned $21,585 from her 16th finish at the LPGA Drive-On Championship. However, it looks like the 28-year-old got the rest she needed for her next event.

Lexi Thompson switches on her vacation mode
The LPGA Tour is on a break until the Honda LPGA Thailand and many female golfers are enjoying the downtime. However, the event will start in the last week of February, and Thompson is preparing! In an Instagram post from the last day of January, she urged her fans to “push yourself, because nobody else is going to do it for you.”

Furthermore, she was seen donning a pair of Puma apparel, the brand she has been trusting since 2010. It is claimed by Forbes that the American golfer earns around $4 million a year from her endorsements!

Apart from working out for her next event, Lexi Thompson is also vacationing in the Dominican Republic. The LPGA star shared glimpses of her sunbathing in the resort town of Punta Cana while also sipping on some tropical juices.

But along with that, she noted that it is “time to get back home to grind.” After being away from the LPGA Tour for a month, she is getting her equipment in top-notch condition.

The American golfer is prepared for the upcoming LPGA Tour event
Lexi Thompson recently shared her visit to Club Champion with her fans. They are known for their professional golf club-fitting. The LPGA star claimed Club Champion fine-tuned her clubs, preparing her for the event in Thailand.

Her stardom has attracted a lot of brand deals towards her, making her one of the top-paid female golfers. However, she has repeatedly used her name for good too. Like recently, she raised awareness about a woe of female athletes – muscle pain.

She praised Iovera, a treatment method that uses extreme cold to temporarily stop nerves from sending immediate pain signals. This method is a great boon for athletes while they are on the field.

From all her social media posts made during the break, it looks like Lexi Thompson has kept herself busy by taking up new deals. But she has also not forgotten to kick back and relax, destressing before the big showdown in Thailand.

What do Nelly Korda and Lexi Thompson have in common? True, they are golfers on the LPGA Tour. True, they both have a major championship to their name. Anything else? Well, a while back, the Englishwoman took to her social media to share a piece of happy news, all the while giving her American counterpart a jovial rivalry of sorts.

A little while back, Korda had welcomed Greyson John DelPrete as a new addition to their family, all the while exuding elation at becoming an aunt. Now, it appears Thompson has one-upped the 25-year-old, picking a huge family role for her adorable nephew, Maverick Cole Thompson, on her 29th birthday, no less!

Lexi Thompson squares off with Nelly Korda off the greens
A story was shared on the 29-year-old’s Instagram account, showcasing a picture of her cute nephew with a card smiling at the camera. The board was addressed to “Auntie Lexi,” asking her a heartwarming question, “Will you be my Godmother?” She was quick to answer as the professional shared a caption along with the same snap: “Yes I Will!!”

That wasn’t all. Adding on to her caption, the 11-time LPGA Tour champ also mentioned, “And I’ll love, care for, and be there for you every single day!!” It surely does put a smile on everyone’s face. In the next story, she shared another picture of her nephew, but this time the athlete was holding him lovingly. It was shared with the caption, “Got to see Little Mav before I left the country,” while alluding to the Aramco Saudi Ladies International Presented By PIF that will start on February 15 at Riyadh Golf Club.

‘Little Mav’ popping the question would have come off as nothing short of a surprise to the Englishwoman. Moreover, it came the day following her 29th birthday. Interestingly, she shared a post of herself donning a Ramy Brook white-piece dress on her Instagram a while back in celebration of the same.

Thompson seems to have outdone her American counterpart in a hearty manner when she said ‘YES’ to her nephew and became his Godmother. Regardless of the same, it truly was a happy moment for the Kordas when they welcomed a new addition to the athletic family.

Nelly Korda enters aunthood
Jessica Korda and her husband, Johnny DelPrete, embraced their newborn baby a while ago. Meanwhile, the athlete shared the joyous news on her Instagram with a picture of the baby’s small hand in his parent’s gentle embrace, along with a caption of the date of his birth, “2.3.24.” Well, the younger Korda sibling was quick to jump right in and comment, “CAN’T WAIT TO SPOIL THE SHEEEEET OUTTA YOU GREYSON,” all the while taking up the role of the fun aunt.

How Lexi Thompson's surprising PGA Tour invitation came to be

Surprisingly, even Lexi Thompson had taken to comment under the 30-year-old’s post, as she wished her all the best for the happy occasion with the comment, “Congrats Jess!!” Well, now, one can only wait and see who among the two will turn out to be the more fun aunt to their nephews. Little do the babies know that they are in for a fun-filled future!

ate last summer, Brett Falkoff, a golf agent with the sports and marketing agency GSE Worldwide, learned by way of colleagues that Dick’s Sporting Goods, which owns and is the exclusive seller of Maxfli golf balls, was looking to increase Maxfli’s exposure by partnering with a PGA Tour player.

Lexi Thompson of the United States walks onto the first green during the final round of the LPGA Drive On Championship at Bradenton Country Club

The timing wasn’t right for any of the male players on GSE’s roster, but, Falkoff was asked, might 11-time LPGA winner Lexi Thompson, who Falkoff has represented since 2020 and whose ball deal with Bridgestone was set to expire at year’s end, be interested in exploring an agreement with Dick’s?

“I said, ‘Absolutely not,’” Falkoff told GOLF.com in a phone interview Monday.

Falkoff knew of Maxfli’s rich legacy of Tour pros playing its balls — the likes of Jack Nicklaus, Greg Norman and Fred Couples all have endorsed the brand — but in more recent times Maxfli has had little to no presence in the game’s elite ranks. At first blush, Falkoff felt the prospect of Thompson gaming Maxflis was a non-starter.

Still, as he and his client scoped out options for a new ball partner for 2024 and beyond, they agreed to test Maxfli’s Tour Series model as part of the discovery process.

Then they saw the results.

Lexi Thompson signs with Maxfli for 2024 season - Yahoo Sports

“We were all in shock,” Falkoff said. “The golf ball was better than anything else she tested. It became a nice match, and we were able to work out a nice agreement.” That one-year arrangement will include Thompson playing the ball for the 2024 season and also wearing a Maxlfi logo on the right side of her visor; she also will provide feedback to Maxfli as it develops its 2025 models.

Falkoff knows how it might look: an established and highly marketable star signing with a relatively low-profile brand. “People look at a deal like this and say, ‘Oh, it must have been a money grab.’ [But] if you really looked into it, this late in her career, why would she do something that is just a money grab? At the end of the day, she’s just looking to play something that performs the best for her.”

He added: “I made it clear to Lexi that you’re not going to sign with a golf-ball company only because you’re getting paid a good amount of money. At this point in your career, you’re going to play whatever’s best for you.”

Extraordinary Journeys: Lexi Thompson

While Thompson saw excellent results during testing — she said she has picked up ball speed without losing any feel or control — Falkoff acknowledged that the switch wasn’t driven only by launch-monitor data. Though Thompson began to find her form toward the end of 2023, last year was largely a struggle for her. In her 11 starts before the Solheim Cup, Thompson made just three cuts and broke 70 only four times.

Change was needed, and it came, in the form of some mid-season swing tweaks and a caddie switch. In January of this year, Thompson announced that she had hired a new full-time caddie, Colton Heisey, with whom Thompson had begun working toward the end of 2023.

Then came a new ball.

“Whenever you’re struggling, you’ve got to realize that you need to change some things up,” said Falkoff, whose other clients include Bryson DeChambeau and Sam Burns. “She’s been with Bridgestone for five years. She always loved their golf ball, but sometimes when you’re struggling, you need to make a change, and she’s looking at all areas of the game, and the golf ball was one of them knowing this was going to be a contract year.”

Two PGA Tour pros played with Lexi Thompson. What'd they think?

The terms of the partnership were not disclosed, but it’s safe to say that Thompson, who also endorses, among other brands, Cobra Puma, Rolex, UKG and Club Champion, will be paid handsomely for becoming the first LPGA player to endorse and exclusively play a Maxfli ball. (The only other Maxfli-sponsored player on a major tour is nine-time PGA Tour Champions winner Fred Funk.)

“Lexi makes an ideal partner as an established presence in golf,” Aimee Watters, VP vertical brand marketing for Dick’s Sporting Goods, told GOLF.com by email. “She provides instant name recognition and further legitimacy to the Maxfli brand.”

When asked whether Dick’s is actively seeking other Tour pros to beef up its staff roster, Watters said, “Right now, we are laser focused on our deal with Lexi and look forward to supporting her on tour this year.”

Lexi Thompson ready for the bright lights of Vegas and big stage of PGA Tour | NEWS10 ABC

In Thompson’s first start of 2024 — the LPGA Drive On Championship, in Bradenton, Fla., last week — she tied for 16th. Following a second-round 67, she was asked about the latest addition to her arsenal.

“I’ve been testing the ball for the last month or two, especially in the wind,” Thompson said. “In the wind is the most important [for] ball testing, and I’ve seen nothing but a little bit lower spin, which is great in the wind, and it does even better in the crosswind. That’s super-important for me, and I’m looking forward to playing it.”

Lexi Thompson is one of the most compelling figures in golf. A 13-year veteran of the LPGA Tour, Thompson has won 11 LPGA Tour titles including the 2014 Kraft Nabisco Championship and 2018 CME Group Tour Championship. Starting in 2024, Thompson has signed an exclusive arrangement with Maxfli to play its ball, a move sure to raise some eyebrows as the 28-year-old LPGA star can clearly play any ball she chooses. In this exclusive interview with Golf Digest Equipment Editor, E. Michael Johnson, Thompson discusses her reasons for the switch, her process for testing and the biggest mistakes amateurs make when it comes to their golf ball selection.

/content/dam/images/golfdigest/fullset/2020/08/Lexi Maxfli ball.jpg

Golf Digest: This is a really big switch, and obviously you could play any golf ball that you want. How long have you been testing the Maxfli ball?

Lexi Thompson: I’ve been practicing and testing with it for the last few months. I was just looking for a change in my game, and I’ve always known about Maxfli and the quality of product they make and the performance behind it.

GD: What was the primary impetus for making the change?

LT: I was like, you know what, I’ll give it a try and it just exceeded my expectations. I’ve seen my game around the greens improve and definitely some extra distance off the tee. I’ll take both those things.

GD: What’s your process for testing golf balls? Do you rely on launch-monitor data or is it more what you see and feel on the course?

Lexi Thompson to Play in PGA Tour's Shriners Children's Open in Las Vegas - Sports Illustrated

LT: Definitely a combination of both. I’ve gotten on the launch monitor just to see the spin numbers. I saw improvement there as I’ve dropped down in spin, but it’s gained me a little extra ball speed. That’s a pretty good combo and that’s really what I was looking for. As far as ball testing, I usually love to test in 30 mile-per-hour winds, which you can get in Florida and elsewhere on tour. It’s important for me to see how the ball reacts, especially in the wind if it’s going to move as much as I feel that it should when hitting a solid shot. And the Maxfli ball reacts the way I expect a shot to. That’s big. Once I see that, then there’s the feel around the greens. It reacts and feels just how I expect it would when hitting a pure chip.

GD: I’ve written a couple of pieces with Tiger Woods about his equipment and on golf balls, he’s always told me his final sanity check is the trajectory on chip shots, which I find remarkable. Do you have kind of a final sanity check before you say, “I’m good to go with this”?

LT: The chip shot is a big thing because you want it coming out in the window that you feel that you’re hitting the chip on. You want it to react on the green the way you expect it to when hitting a nip chip. But I would have to say how it reacts in the wind, that’s definitely the most important aspect of a ball for me.

Lexi Thompson Looks To Start LPGA Season With A Bang

GD: Maxfli has multiple models in its Tour series, with the Tour, Tour S and Tour X. Did you test all the models and if so, what were some of the noticeable differences you saw?

LT: I tested the Tour and the Tour S. I didn’t see too much of a difference. A little difference in spin and the Tour S came off a touch higher around the greens, so I settled on the Tour model. They were both very good, but the Tour lessened my spin off the tee and gave me a few extra yards.

GD: Are you a player who likes to know all about the technology of a product or do you simply focus more on how it performs?

LT: Honestly, I can’t say I get too involved with that. Of course, I like to know the performance behind the golf ball and just how it’s very trusted with the technology that’s involved with it. It’s always nice to have that in the back of my mind. So while I’m not super into all the technology behind it, it’s very important to have that trust.

Lexi Thompson to be seventh woman to compete at PGA Tour event with Shriners Children's Open exemption | CNN

GD: Have you made any equipment changes during this period?

LT: I haven’t as of now, but I am in the transition of changing into the Cobra Darkspeed driver. It’s super important to test if you change to a new driver, especially change to a new driver and new ball. The driver might have a little less spin off the face, and I need to see if that matches up with the new ball, too. So, I did test that as well and it was still good off the new driver.

GD: You say you’ve gained a few extra yards. Have you had to recalibrate any of your yardages or make any other adjustment?

LT: The yards off the tee you just take, but I also have to be aware I’m one or two yards longer with the irons as well. It’s also a little bit of a lower ball flight, which I really like. It not only behaves better in the win but comes out in a better window for me.

Two PGA Tour pros played with Lexi Thompson. What'd they think?

GD: You play in a lot of pro-ams. What’s one of the biggest mistakes you see everyday players make with their golf ball choice?

LT: It depends on the player. A pretty decent golfer, I feel like some of them don’t get the spin numbers matched up with their swing speeds and launch conditions, which is super important. I feel like a lot of people don’t take that into account and they should. You might feel like you hit a good shot and it doesn’t go the distance that you think it should or it moves a lot in the wind and that could just be a matter of a too high spinning golf ball. People don’t realize how important the golf ball is in golf.

Lexi Thompson is the new face of Maxfli. The 11-time LPGA winner has signed an endorsement agreement with Maxfli for the 2024 season and will play the Maxfli Tour ball. She will also take part in a series of marketing campaigns for the brand.

The Maxfli Tour Series is sold exclusively at Dick’s Sporting Goods and Golf Galaxy for $39.99 per dozen.

Lexi Thompson WITB: LPGA star makes surprising gear change

“I’ve been testing the Maxfli Tour Series for a few months now, and the Maxfli Tour ball exceeded my expectations,” Thompson said in a release. “The ball fits my game extremely well, increasing my ball speed without sacrificing control. I’m excited to be joining forces with a brand that has such a longstanding, proven reputation for high-quality and performance.

Thompson begins her 13th season on the LPGA at this week’s Drive On LPGA Championship at Bradenton Country Club in her native Florida. Last season, Thompson’s game took a nosedive as she struggled with her ball-striking.

A new swing thought from new instructor Tony Ruggiero, however, turned things around in time for the Solheim Cup in Spain. After a 3-1-0 performance for Team USA, Thompson went on to tee it up on the PGA Tour for the first time at the Shriners Children’s Open, where she carded a second-round 69. Thompson averaged 301 yards off the tee over two rounds in Las Vegas and tied for 13th in driving accuracy against the men, hitting 20 of 28 fairways.

KPMG Women's PGA: Lexi Thompson fined for slow play

She was back.

“Lexi is a remarkable golfer, and I can’t think of a better player to have join the Maxfli family as an exclusive partner for the Maxfli golf balls,” said Aimee Watters, VP Vertical Brand Marketing, DICK’S Sporting Goods.

“Becoming only the seventh woman to compete in a PGA event is so impressive, and we know there is more to come! We feel honored to have Maxfli be a part of her journey and are confident that she will continue to break records, while using our Tour series ball on the course.”

Thompson told Golfweek in Bradenton that she took one week off after the Grant Thornton Invitational and then got back to work.

“It’s definitely a big year with the Olympics and Solheim Cup,” said Thompson, who has a tattoo of the Olympic rings on her left wrist. “Anytime I can represent my country I want to be on those teams.”

Thompson also hired a new full-time caddie in Colton Heisey, who worked for her four times last season. Heisey, a six-year caddie veteran of the PGA Tour and Korn Ferry Tour, had previously worked for Thompson’s brother Curtis.

“We just make a great team,” said Thompson. “I just want somebody out here, obviously I depend on him a lot with numbers, don’t carry a yardage book, but big personality for me. To just keep me relaxed in between shots and have a good time.”

Heisey first caddied for Thompson at the Kroger Queen City Championship where she tied for 19th, her best finish of the season after eight missed cuts.

“She stripes it,” said Heisey. “It’s nice too because we’re the same age so we get along great. It’s refreshing for sure.”

Those who have been clamoring for more mixed events in professional golf will get their wish next month when Rose Zhang and Lexi Thompson tee it up in the first edition of Capital One’s The Match that includes top women and men competing against each other. The rising LPGA talent and the longtime LPGA star will be joined by a pair of PGA Tour heavyweights in Rory McIlroy and Max Homa

For the second time, this version of The Match will take place under the lights on Monday, Feb. 26 at West Palm Beach’s newly reimagined “The Park” Municipal Golf Course in Florida. Simulcast coverage across TNT, truTV, HLN and Max will begin at 6:30 p.m. ET. Ernie Johnson, Charles Barkley, Trevor Immelman, Christina Kim and Kathryn Tappen will be on hand to call the action. The broadcast also will receive contributions from DJ Khaled and NHL on TNT analyst Paul Bissonnette.

The format has historically been match play, pitting two two-player teams against one another. This version of The Match, however, will be a 12-hole skins game between the four competitors, with each hole worth a specified amount for charity. All four golfers will use the same tees for the four par 3s that are a part of the routing, while the remaining eight holes will use varying tee boxes and yardage for the men and women. The golfer who raises the most funds through the skins format after 12 holes will be declared the winner.

The previous eight iterations of the made-for-TV event have featured only men, some of them not even professional golfers. Current NFL quarterbacks Patrick Mahomes and Aaron Rodgers, as well as former NFL quarterbacks Peyton Manning and Tom Brady, have each starred in two editions of The Match. The same goes for Golden State Warriors point guard Stephen Curry, who teamed up with Manning in one and Warriors teammate Klay Thompson in another. Zhang and Thompson will be the first two women to play in the event.

This marks McIlroy’s second appearance in The Match, his first also coming under the lights at Pelican Golf Club in December 2022. There, he and teammate Tiger Woods lost, 3 and 2, to the duo of Justin Thomas and Jordan Spieth. Like Thompson and Zhang, this will be Homa’s first time competing in the event.

Stanford star, top-ranked amateur Rose Zhang officially turns pro after back-to-back national titles

The other “star” of this Match will be the golf course. The Park, formerly known as West Palm Beach Country Club, was a PGA Tour venue in the 1950s and 1960s. Renowned architect Gil Hanse designed the new version of the course—whose mission is dedicated to youth programs and community outreach such as affordable golf instruction, classrooms for mentoring and after-school tutoring—along with a two-acre kids-only golf area.

As always, there will be a number of different challenges throughout the event. Those will be revealed at a later date, as will the designated 12 holes they will be using. Only eligible Capital One cardholders will have access to attend the event. Cardholders will be able to purchase or redeem their rewards for tickets exclusively through Capital One Entertainment.

Lexi Thompson has been with Bridgestone since 2018, along with high-profile names like Tiger Woods and Fred Couples

Lexi Thompson is set to reportedly split with golf ball sponsor Bridgestone after six years with the brand.

Lexi Thompson waves to the crowd after holing her putt

Thompson, one of the most recognizable faces in women’s golf, has used a Bridgestone ball since 2016 before signing in an official capacity in 2018. The American has won three events in her six-year stint with the company, but will now move on to pastures new, Bridgestone CEO Dan Murphy confirmed.

“After a long and prosperous relationship, Bridgestone Golf and Lexi have parted ways,” he said in a statement. “We thank her for her years of support and partnership and wish her great success in golf and life.”

Bridgestone still have a number of high-profile players on their roster, including 15-time Major champion Tiger Woods and PGA Tour veterans Jason Day and Matt Kuchar.

The 11-time LPGA winner endured a tough first half of the season in 2023 but finished with a flurry, recording four consecutive top-ten finishes to end the year.

In October, Thompson also made headlines when she became only the seventh player to tee it up in a PGA Tour event at the Shriners Open. The 28-year-old was aiming to become the first woman to make the cut at a PGA Tour event since 1945 but ultimately fell three shots short.

The uptick in form coincided with Thompson hiring Colton Heisey as her caddie, with the American moving away from having a family member on the bag. Heisey’s appointment has now been made permanent heading into the new season.

“I’m super grateful for the opportunity to work with one of the best to ever do it,” Heisey said when the news was announced. “Looking forward to a great season and doing everything I can to contribute to her success.”

5. The Hoodie
The golf mommy is known for her unconventional and bold fashion choices on and off the golf course. She has faced a lot of criticism and backlash for the same, but she never really changed her style. However, just a few days before, she shocked her fans with her choice of clothes. She posted a video on Twitter of her practicing, and she was wearing a hoodie in it. Yes, a hoodie! Wearing a hoodie isn’t a big deal, but to the influencer’s fans, it sure came as a nice surprise.

4. Thе ‘Lеxi’ Twееt
The golf influencer is not shy about expressing her opinions on important matters. However, it is a rare sight for people to witness her commenting on the LPGA Tour and the female golfers. In October, she surprised everyone by tweeting about Lexi Thompson. The beautiful diva praised the golfer for her performance at the 2023 Shriners Children’s Open and complimented her for playing the same tees as the male golfers. Spiranac’s tweet came as a surprise for fans but was well-received as they liked the gesture.

3. The Golf Analyst
Paige Spiranac is not just a pretty face; she is also a smart and knowledgeable golf instructor. When Paul Azinger’s contract with NBC Sports was not renewed, she did not shy away from stepping up and offering to step in! In November, she surprised her fans by suggesting that she could be a golf analyst for NBC Sports. When NUCL Golf posted a tweet about Paul Azinger and NBC Sports parting ways, Golf Queen quickly reposted the tweet and wrote, “Fine, I’ll step in.” And her followers couldn’t agree more!

2. Thе Holе in Onе
Although Spiranac doesn’t compete anymore, she was once a professional golfer. She left the competitive aspect of the game but found solace in the business and knowledge aspects of golf. Proving that she still has the knack for the on-course aspect, the 30-year-old shot a pleasant ace this year.

In December, she surprised her fans by making a hole-in-one shot on camera. She was just playing some shots on the course when she hit an ace. She posted the video on Twitter and subtly called out everyone who claimed that she couldn’t play. The video beautifully captured her happiness after she made the spectacular ace and also showed glimpses of her ball landing in the hole.

This video went viral and received 2.9 million views. Some fans congratulated her for her incredible feat and praised her skills, while others accused her of faking the video. Spiranac later confirmed that the video was real and not edited. She claimed that it was one of the best moments of her life and was proud of it.

1. Thе Sandy Mounds Avatar
The golf queen is no stranger to criticism and online trolls. But this year, she took the matter into her own hands and decided to troll her trolls. Although she has always handled the negativity with sheer grace and dignity, earlier this year, it was time for ‘Sandy Mounds’ to make her way!

In May, she posted a satirical video that she had directed and written on her own. In the video, she referred to the fact that people on the internet shame her and how she should be a better ‘str***er’ than a golf influencer. Her video was iconic and surprising to the fans, and it took the entire internet by storm.

2023 was indeed a special year for the golf influencer and her fans alike! Her milestones and her skills raised the fans’ expectations of her! With 2024 approaching fast, it would be exciting to see what she has in store for her admirers! Stay tuned to find out all the latest updates about Paige Spiranac.
