After her incredible defense against Becky Lynch at WrestleMania 40, Rhea Ripley paid the price for underestimating a genuine threat: Liv Morgan. The superstar in question injured the Women’s World Champion’s shoulder on Raw.
After a brutal backstage attack by Liv Morgan, Ripley began to suffer from issues in her right shoulder, and a few days back on an episode of Raw, Ripley sadly announced that she would be vacating the title. Ever since, fans have been awaiting the return of ‘Mami’, who recently provided an injury update on her social media.
Rhea Ripley draws inspiration from herself as she provides an update on her shoulder injury
Mami has become one of the biggest names in WWE’s women’s roster over the past year. But her current injury issue has halted her meteoric rise. And recently on her social media, she uploaded a picture of her office, which featured several title belts as well as photographs of Ripley’s iconic moments. And in the caption to the picture, she provided an update on her fitness as she simply wrote, “Progress”.
The loss of Mami is sure to affect the Stamford-based promotion considering the plans they had for her. But another entity that could suffer even more due to the absence of The Eradicator is her faction: The Judgment Day. Tensions have flared in the group between its members, with Damian Priest drawing a line in the sand on Raw. WWE Hall of Famer Bully Ray had a few choice things to say on the Busted Open Radio about Ripley’s injury. He suggested that it may not be as serious as many fear it will be for her. So it shouldn’t be long before the former champion comes for the title again. But was taking her completely off TV the right decision? One former WWE personality doesn’t think so.
Vince Russo wants Mami to keep appearing
Rhea Ripley is away from WWE programming as she recovers. However, she could surely do a lot on Raw without having matches and even without being the World Champion just like CM Punk. But the company seems to have made the decision to allow her to rest one hundred percent. Which is the best thing for her to return with all the strength in the world. Now, Vince Russo too thinks she should stay on TV.
The former WWE writer from the 90s shares his opinion every week on Legion of Raw after the red brand show and in the most recent episode of the podcast, he dedicated a few words to the situation of Mami. He said, “Bro, back in the Attitude Era, if somebody got hurt, they were still on the show. They just wouldn’t wrestle. We did that all the time. If Austin would get hurt or The Rock, I would say, ‘Okay, they’re gonna be on the show, we’ll write them on the show. They’re just not gonna wrestle.”
He further added, “Rhea Ripley is a huge star. Why can’t they write for her without having her wrestle? I don’t understand this… Why isn’t she on the show now? She’s got her arm in a sling, she can’t get on an airplane?” Well, Russo surely wants Mami to still be a part of the WWE programming and arguably for good reason. The Judgment Day is in disarray and the championship scene has moved on from Ripley. It won’t be surprising to think that The Eradicator will want to stamp her authority on things and reestablish her ambitions. What do you think? Should the WWE bring Ripley like they brought Punk? What did you make of the WWE star’s injury update? Let us know in the comments.
Former WWE Women’s Champion Becky Lynch recently appeared on Ariel Helwani’s MMA Hour show to promote her new biography. During the interview, she discussed various topics, including her views on Ronda Rousey, details about her contract, and her upcoming WrestleMania 40 match against WWE Women’s Champion Rhea Ripley.
Becky Lynch won the Elimination Chamber 2024 event, earning the opportunity to challenge Rhea Ripley for the WWE Women’s Championship at WrestleMania 40.
Ripley has been at the top of her game recently and is on her way to becoming one of the most popular WWE stars of all time. She recently went viral on social media after footage of her match with Nia Jax surfaced, in which Rhea Ripley delivered a stink face move on her opponent.
While discussing her WrestleMania opponent, Becky Lynch reacted to the viral video of Rhea Ripley giving a stink face to Nia Jax, saying, “So when you go out there and you say, ‘Well, I can just post a photo and people will go crazy, or I can just post a video of my a** and people will go crazy.’
“Well, then that just feels like we’re kind of going back, and I worry about that because if that’s what people see as your champion, ‘Oh, that’s the Women’s Champion! What do I think of when I think of the Women’s Champion? Oh, I think of her a**!’ Then we’re just going back and we’re making an a** of our business!”
WrestleMania 40 Match Card
WWE is gearing up to host the 40th edition of its flagship event, WrestleMania, also known as the Showcase of Immortals. This year, the two-night extravaganza, WrestleMania XL, will take place on Saturday, April 6, 2024, and Sunday, April 7, 2024, at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
The WrestleMania 40 card appears to be jam-packed as WWE aims to make this year’s event the greatest WrestleMania of all time, featuring some of the biggest superstars and matches on the show.
So far, WWE has announced ten spectacular matches, one of which is for the WWE Women’s Championship between the current champion Rhea Ripley and challenger Becky Lynch. According to rumors, Becky Lynch has expressed her desire to open WrestleMania 40 with her match against Rhea Ripley.

Rhea Ripley set social media alight after using the stink face on Nia Jax.
The Stink Face was made infamous by WWE Hall of Famer Rikishi during the Attitude Era. The move saw the big man drop opponents in the corner and back his backside into their face. During his time in the company, Rikishi used the move on stars including Kurt Angle, Paul Heyman, and even The Rock.
Now, Ripley has brought the move back, performing an extended version of it on Nia Jax. Footage of the incident quickly spread on social media to the delight of fans around the world. Ripley then went on to successfully defend the Women’s World Championship against Jax and Shayna Baszler at the live event in Springfield, Illinois.
Rhea Ripley Credits AEW Star For Current Look
Rhea Ripley has credited Ruby Soho for inspiring her to be herself. When the star debuted during the Mae Young Classic, she had long blond hair and a more generic appearance. However, in WWE she began working with Soho, who had a completely different look to other women in wrestling. This helped her bring out her true self instead of trying to fit a specific mould.
Today, as part of The Judgment Day, Ripley leans more into a heavy metal presentation, and it has helped her win over fans all around the world and reach the top of WWE. At WrestleMania 40, she will defend the Women’s World Championship against Becky Lynch, who challenged her after winning the Women’s Elimination Chamber in Perth, Australia.
vRhea Ripley is certainly one of the top female WWE Superstars right now, as her stock continues to rise with every passing week. She also decided to send a message to her haters before Elimination Chamber this week.
Rhea Ripley is positioned as the headline star of Elimination Chamber 2024. Not only is she featured prominently as the cover star on the event poster, but she also takes center stage as the face of the official hashtag for the show, making her a focal point in all the promotional efforts for the event in Australia.
The journey to the pinnacle of the wrestling world has been a challenging one for the female star, Rhea Ripley. Her struggles to find her footing in the company have been well-documented. However, even before her time with the company, the Judgement Day Star had to overcome numerous hardships and face detractors at every stage of her career.
Rhea Ripley opened up about her struggles during a recent appearance on The Bump. When asked about her message for her detractors ahead of the Elimination Chamber event, The Mami recounted the numerous individuals in her life who had tried to dissuade her from pursuing a career in wrestling.
“Yeah, those people that doubted me throughout the entire journey. I had school teachers who laughed in my face when I wanted to do projects on WWE and wrestling. People judged me for wanting to try out for Riot City Wrestling, the independent scene in Australia where I began my wrestling career. Even when I laid out my plan to dedicate myself to the craft and make it to WWE, there were constant voices saying, ‘You should find a real job. You should study. You should do something else. You’re never gonna make it. It’s a silly dream. You have to be more realistic about your life.’
The one thing I have to say to that is, ‘Where are you guys now?’ I’m here, living my dream. I worked hard for this dream, and they’re miserable in their little, crappy lives. So yeah, sue me.”
The Women’s Champion is set to defend her title against Nia Jax in a singles match at Elimination Chamber 2024, taking place at Optus Stadium in Perth, Australia. It remains to be seen how she will fare in the bout.

A WWE SmackDown Superstar’s latest tweet targeting Rhea Ripley will not go down well with the Women’s World Champion. Bayley, who wore Ripley’s merch on the Friday night show, has now taken shots at her on Twitter.
The Role Model was in the commentary booth during WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Kayden Carter and Katana Chance’s title defense against Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn. At one point, Bayley called herself the “Mami Slayer” when asked about a potential WrestleMania match against the Judgment Day member.
Following SmackDown, the 34-year-old star took to Twitter to share a picture of herself wearing Ripley’s merch. She again called herself the “Mami Slayer” in the caption and added she was coming for the Women’s World Champion.
“Call me the Mami Slayer. I’m coming for you Rhea Ripley. #RoyalRumble #SmackDown RheaRipley_WWE,” tweeted Bayley.
Bayley is set to enter the 2024 Women’s Royal Rumble match next week, and according to many, she’s the favorite to win the match. If she were to come on top, a showdown against Ripley at WrestleMania 40 could become a reality.
Bayley considers a potential match against Rhea Ripley as a dream clash
In her recent interview with the New York Post, Bayley opened up about the possibility of a marquee clash against The Eradicator at the Grandest Stages of Them All later this year.
The Role Model confessed that it would be a dream for her to step inside the ring with the Judgment Day member.
“If I’m able to work with her [Rhea Ripley] at WrestleMania, that would just be a dream match I [have] never even thought of before,” Bayley shared her honest thoughts on the potential matchup.
Bayley on what it would mean to win the #RoyalRumble next Saturday:
“Winning the Rumble — would be very, very, very cool & I would get my first singles WrestleMania match ever. Getting a singles match for a Championship is every wrestler’s dream at WrestleMania, so I’ve gotta do… pic.twitter.com/8TfqQL5b0K
While it remains to be seen if Bayley manages to overcome 29 other women and win the Women’s Royal Rumble next week, it’s safe to say the teases of a match with Ripley have already gotten the fans buzzing.

It’s time for WWE RAW, and we’re kicking off with a special video honoring the legacy of the late Martin Luther King, Jr. on this MLK Day.
Rhea Ripley has been leading the WWE RAW women’s division as the Women’s World Champion. The Judgment Day member used her backstage power to set up two big matches for the upcoming episode of RAW.
Judgment Day has been upset with their recent failures on the red brand. Ripley was seen discussing the same with the faction on last week’s show. However, things did not go as planned, as the group lost a few more matches on the show.
The Miz defeated JD McDonagh even though the latter had R-Truth by his side. Meanwhile, Tommaso Ciampa got the better of Finn Balor to inch closer to an Undisputed Tag Team Championship match opportunity.
It looks like The Eradicator used her backstage power to get the men of her faction into a couple of big matches for RAW. WWE’s official Twitter handle tweeted out two match graphics to announce the matches for next week, and Rhea Ripley replied with the following message:
“Glad talking to you @ScrapDaddyAP wasn’t a full waste of my time 🤝🏽,” Mami wrote.
It looks like Mami had a chat with RAW General Manager Adam Pearce to get the matches on the card. JD McDonagh and Dominik Mysterio will team up to face DIY on Monday. Meanwhile, the Undisputed Tag Team Champions will compete in a non-title match against The Miz and R-Truth.
Rhea Ripley could turn babyface heading into WWE WrestleMania 40
Many fans expect to see Mami walk into WrestleMania 40 with the World Women’s Championship still around her waist. That could be a possibility, keeping in mind that she will likely go into the Elimination Chamber as the champion and retain her title.
Last week’s RAW saw Mami get a huge cheer from the crowd. This was against her heel character, and the WWE creative could turn her face right after Elimination Chamber.
Speaking on Sportskeeda Wrestling’s UnSKripted podcast, legendary wrestling journalist Bill Apter mentioned that Ripley’s last entrance showed a new side of her on WWE RAW.
Rhea Ripley was such a master also of interviews that same night. A master of interviews. She came out and for the first time, we found the fans cheering her in a more fan-favorite type of style, not the Rhea Ripley that comes out with Judgment Day… This was a different tone to Rhea Ripley, and I absolutely loved it,” Bill Apter said.
Fans could see Mami split from Judgment Day and go on a babyface run. It could turn out to be a good move for the WWE Superstar and the brand.
Do you want to see Ripley as a babyface in WWE? Sound off in the comments section below.
Rhea Ripley is one of the most dominant women’s wrestlers in the WWE active roster, who has been putting her opponents down with her powerful offence. Ripley is one of the most influential members of The Judgment Day and played an important role in the success of the faction.
However, Mami became too busy that she only had a few matches in her division and has been spending a lot of time with Judgment Day members. As the WWE fans blamed her for too limited matches in the previous year, Ripley addressed the complaints for the very first time. She also has addressed R Truth’s Judgment Day status.
Rhea Ripley is too busy for complaints
The Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley joined through facetime for an interview at WWE 2024 Preview Special on Peacock. During the interview, Mami addressed the complaints the WWE fans put on her for having less matches and being involved with Judgment Day business all the time.
“People like to complain that Mami doesn’t have many matches, Mami doesn’t do too much, she’s too involved with The Judgment Day. At the end of the day, Mami is busy doing business, I’m running Monday Night RAW and I’m running my division. And, there’s nothing that anyone can do anything about it.”
Rhea Ripley on R Truth’s status with The Judgment Day
Rhea Ripley was also asked about the reunion of “Awesome Truth” against JD McDonagh and Dominik Mysterio at Raw Day 1 and R Truth’s status, whether he is in or out of The Judgment Day.
“I’ve had it up to here with Truth, I really have. He’s not in The Judgment Day. It was cool to see Awesome Truth back together [on ‘Raw’ recently], don’t get me wrong, I was a huge fan of them growing up, but they should stay together. They should stay away from The Judgment Day, because there’s five of us and that’s it. We’re not looking at Truth right now, and he’s trying to weasel his way in.
“He’s breaking into our clubhouse. That’s not okay. You can’t just break into our clubhouse. He’s putting himself into all of the things that we’re working so hard for. He’s coming up to the Judgment Day music. To me, he thinks he’s a part of it, but we have never signed off on that. We have not discussed this. We have not come to an agreement that Truth is in The Judgment Day. So far, he is not. Sorry, everyone.”
Rhea Ripley has issued a bold prediction ahead of a major title match on tonight’s WWE RAW Day 1 special.
The Eradicator is set to defend the Women’s World Championship against Ivy Nile on tonight’s RAW from San Diego, CA. This will be the first-ever bout between the two grapplers. The match was made after The Diamond Mine’s Pitbull said she wanted to challenge the champion, and The Judgment Day’s Mami promised to teach her a lesson.
Nile took to X today to hype her first main roster title shot. The 31-year-old responded to an official company graphic for the match.
“What a way to start 2024 [exploding head emoji] Happy New Year [fire emoji x 4] #WWEDay1,” Nile wrote.
Ripley’s last televised title defense came at Survivor Series in late November when she defeated Zoey Stark. She then defeated Maxxine Dupri on the December 11 RAW. Nile has worked a Fatal 4 Way tag team match and a Battle Royal on RAW, but her last TV singles match was a NXT Level Up win over Valentina Feroz in late October.
Updated WWE preview for Ivy Nile vs. Rhea Ripley
Tonight’s RAW Day 1 special will feature at least two women’s division matches – Becky Lynch vs. Nia Jax, plus Ivy Nile vs. Rhea Ripley.
Nile vs. Ripley could be a huge deal for the Diamond Mine member if she wins, as she has never held a title while with the company – on the main roster or in NXT. The updated match preview from the official RAW website reiterates how The Eradicator is voluntarily defending her title tonight.
Rhea Ripley is out to teach Ivy Nile that it is unwise to mess with The Eradicator of The Judgment Day. So much so that she will voluntarily put her Women’s World Championship on the line to show just how little she thinks of her challenger. Is Ripley underestimating the dangerous Ivy? Find out at WWE Day 1, Jan. 1 at 8/7 C on Monday Night Raw on USA,” WWE wrote.
WWE also stressed the creative angle of Ripley “teaching a lesson” to Nile, which could be a hint at how the match will be booked.

WWE Superstar Rhea Ripley usually takes to social media to express her dislike for Canada whenever she’s in the country, with her most recent tweet being the latest one. Mami declared that she is very happy to leave the country following last night’s Live Event in Toronto.
The current Women’s World Champion retained her title in a triple-threat match against Ivy Nile and Shayna Baszler at the show. Ripley won after saving Dominik Mysterio from getting choked out by The Queen of Spades. Meanwhile, her Judgment Day pals didn’t fare so well.
Finn Balor lost to Sami Zayn in a Last Man Standing Match, while Cody Rhodes defeated Damian Priest inside a steel cage. Fortunately for the group, though, they are heading back to the United States. Rhea Ripley’s message to Canada sums their time up:
“Goodbye Canada… VERY happy to be leaving,” tweeted Rhea Ripley.
Mami is set to defend her Women’s World Championship against Ivy Nile at the Day 1 edition of RAW this coming Monday. It remains to be seen if WWE will spring a massive surprise on the show.
Who’s left to challenge Rhea Ripley?
Ripley will need new challengers following her likely win over Ivy Nile at RAW Day 1. She has beaten everybody who’s stepped up so far, including Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler in multi-woman matches. Either star could face The Eradicator in a singles match before WrestleMania 40.
However, when it comes to The Show of Shows, only one woman should face Rhea Ripley in Philadelphia. Or man. Becky Lynch looks set to return to the world title scene ahead of ‘Mania, where a marquee showdown with Mami is expected.
The two have teased a match for over a year through several intense staredowns. It is the biggest women’s match WWE can book at WrestleMania in 2024. Meanwhile, Liv Morgan would be a solid alternative, as she has a storied history with Ripley.
