Do you ever wonder how it might feel to be a part of the tennis scene, playing matches, and facing opponents? For fans who already have a knack for gaming, they might be aware of the experience that the tennis-based video game series TopSpin offers. Coming up with a new update for the 24-25 session, Roger Federer is set to be on the cover once again.

Hitting the gaming world after its last update in 2011, TopSpin recently announced its return as it promises to deliver an immersive experience like never before. Doubling up the excitement for players worldwide, the cover star for this year’s edition is none other than the legendary Swiss.

What sets this game apart is the attention to detail in capturing every sign of emotions and body movement. Instead of just relying on computer graphics, developers have gone the extra mile. Roger Federer himself participated in recording sessions, where he replicated his playing style, shots, and even facial expressions.

This means that the Swiss tennis maestro lifted his racket once again, not on the tennis court but in a digital recording room. This was done in order to ensure that every aspect of his game is authentically represented in the virtual world.

The video game title is set to offer a line-up of 24 playable pros, that the fans can simulate at all four Grand Slam tournaments, indulging in various game modes. As the franchise released the game just a day ago, it is available to be played on famous platforms like the PlayStation 4, 5, and Xbox series.

Coco Gauff shares excitement behind being a part of the TopSpin 2k25 roster
Besides Roger Federer’s deep involvement in making the video game highly detailed, many other players became a part of the successful launch. Coco Gauff, who recently lost to Caroline Garcia at the Miami Open, expressed her excitement over the fact that she herself will be able to simulate her character in the game.

“It’s pretty cool to be in a video game. I don’t know how I would feel playing as myself, though,” she said. Along with that, Gauff also answered the query of who she wants to play as, besides herself. “Probably as one of the Big Three!” she answered, giving out her admiration for the three tennis legends.

As the video game continues to drag the attention of tennis players, are you excited to give it a try?

Simona Halep wasn’t sure what to expect at her first tournament in 18 months this week at the Miami Open. Following a tough first-round loss in three sets to Paula Badosa, the former World No. 1 and three-time major champion still managed to keep a smile on her face.

“Someone told me, ‘If I get $1 for your every smile, I will be rich at the end of the day,'” Halep told WTA Insider. “I smiled a lot because I get so much love from people.”

Simona Halep returns from an overturned doping ban with a loss to Paula Badosa at the Miami Open | KSL.com

Earlier this month, Halep was cleared to return to tennis with immediate effect after her four-year ban for an anti-doping violation was reduced to nine months as a result of her recent appeal to the Court for Arbitration for Sport.

Eager to get back to action as soon as possible, Halep scrambled to get ready to play Miami, where she was given a main-draw wild card.

“When I entered the first time on the court, I told the guys that I was with, and it seemed like I never left,” Halep said. “So I have a good feeling coming back. I love tennis, so probably this makes it easier.”

Halep spoke to WTA Insider after her Miami return to discuss her emotions surrounding her return to tennis, what she has in store for her comeback and why her love for the sport never wavered.

WTA Insider: How were the emotions and nerves for you as you prepared for your return?

Halep: Actually, when I was on the plane, I told my mom that I was super nervous because I didn’t know what to expect from people. When you have such a difficult period, you don’t know how people will see it or treat you.

But the first day, it was incredible. So then the stress went out and I didn’t stress myself in this direction. I knew that on the court it’s going to be good. The crowd was incredible today again. So the love I received, it’s even more than anything that I had until now.

WTA Insider: Now that you’ve played a competitive match, what do you think you need to work on to get yourself back to the level you’re used to?

Halep: Honestly, I don’t have a very clear idea of what I didn’t do well today and what I did wrong. I know that I missed some balls that normally I should not. But honestly, I feel I played the good tennis.

So, firstly, I need a coach to guide me a little bit. I’m waiting for Carlos Martinez and to start with him. We set up a trial period. He worked with Svetlana [Kuznetsova], my friend and favorite tennis player. I admire his work. So, hopefully, we get very well along, and we’re going to do some good results.

But firstly, I need to talk to him and he needs to see me to tell me where I am because alone, it’s difficult to set your level.

WTA Insider: When you got the decision from CAS, what was your reaction?

Halep: I was talking to my lawyers and I was just smiling. I told them, “Guys, the decision is correct.” I was so happy. I had tears after I finished the call with them. I was just happy that the truth came out and the decision was fair.

So, 18 months of stress were finished, and I was now able to go play tennis. Because the most difficult thing was that I was not able to go to watch a tennis match. This was a disaster for a tennis player. Because I was suspended, I could not even watch a tennis match [at a tournament]. So it was difficult.

WTA Insider: Did find yourself resenting the sport?

Halep: No, I didn’t have that darkness. People were supporting me from the first day until the last one. Seeing that the opponents supported me and they believed that I was clean gave me strength and gave me the positive to keep fighting. So no, I didn’t have that.

One person, a very important person to me, told me that I should not hate tennis because tennis did not give me this difficult period. I was thinking about it, and I said, yeah, tennis is still my passion. I love to do this, and I will be back when I have the right decision.

Five strong crosscourt winners from Badosa and Halep's first-round match

WTA Insider: So now what?

Halep: I don’t know [laughs]. This was so fast.

To be honest, I was thinking that I would come back on clay to have a little bit of time to take a breath and settle down. But the positive feeling was so big, and I had some people around me who told me you have to go to feel the energy again.

It was the right decision, the best decision to come to Miami, to feel the energy, to feel the love of people and to feel the freedom again.

WTA Insider: How will you plan your comeback?

Halep: I don’t have a plan. It’s just the first tournament, and I don’t know what the plan is going to be, but I want to play as much as possible to get the rhythm back.

I’m old. I’m not that young anymore and I have to manage the comeback very well. I don’t want to get injured. Most people told me to be worried about it because 18 months is a lot and I have to take it slow. So I have to talk to Carlos and we’re going to decide together, for sure.

Simona Halep loses first match after doping ban as Paula Badosa rallies back in Miami

WTA Insider: What are you looking forward to the most right now?

Halep: I just want to enjoy the joy that I have. It’s been incredible this week. Even if I lost first round, it doesn’t matter. It’s not about tennis these days. It’s about my personal feelings, how I feel as a human being, and I feel great.

So I want to keep this feeling, and I want it to help me in future tournaments because I know I’m very excited now, but there are going to be moments when I will be like, “Why am I here?” So it’s going to be difficult, in a way, but I want to make it easier by enjoying playing tennis.

Iga Swiatek, the WTA number 1, experienced a roller coaster of emotions at Roland Garros in 2021. Her journey took an unexpected turn in the quarterfinals against Maria Sakkari, leaving her to deal with a defeat that was quite hard for her to accept. Looking back on those memories, Swiatek shared her insights on the emotional challenges that she went through after the loss, admitting that it was not ‘easy’ for her.

The 22-year-old (then 20) had to take an off-court medical time-out in the second set of the match in 2021, after which Sakkari knocked her out. The defeat was hard for her, especially after her outstanding start to the tournament. However, in a recent interview, she revealed how she can now ‘overcome’ those issues swiftly.

Iga Swiatek’s reflections on her defeat at the French Open quarterfinals in 2021
Iga Swiatek, during the French Open of 2021, failed to maintain her composure against Maria Sakkari. Three years after experiencing the loss, Swiatek reflected on the match, expressing the distress and pressure that she went through at that time. “I remember I couldn’t sleep and everything.” She had bagged a grand slam before that match. This further increased the pressure on her shoulders. As a result, when she lost the quarterfinals of the French Open, it became a more emotionally demanding situation for her.

Yeah, I think Roland Garros 2021 was a great example, ’cause — for sure being the defending champion, especially after a Grand Slam where you weren’t really expected to do anything, it wasn’t really easy.” she said, further describing the emotional turmoil that she felt following the game.

However, Iga Swiatek learned her lessons the hard way. Delving deeper into the subject, she opened up about the valuable lessons that she acquired after the defeat.

Swaitek now knows how to ‘overcome’ her problems off-court

Iga Swiatek acknowledged the important lessons she gained after losing the game in 2021. She understood how critical it was to accept weakness and use it as a source of strength for development, both on and off the court.

Talking about the solutions to the challenges that she faced, Swiatek said, “Now I have some solutions to overcome these kind of issues”. This signified the emotional growth that she experienced after the defeat.

“Back then, like, the whole tournament was really tough emotionally. I wouldn’t have made the same mistakes on the next ones ”, Swiatek further highlighted the mental fortitude she developed over the years.

Through all the highs and lows of her Roland Garros journey, Iga Swiatek came out on top as a champion-maybe, not on the court, but definitely on her personal journey of self-discovery.

Serena Williams took to social media to let fans know what occupies her time after giving up tennis.

Williams shared a TikTok video where she discussed her investment business which she started long before her ‘transition away from tennis’.

Serena Williams frustrated

Quite a few of her investments have hit the headlines like her stake in the Miami Dolphins.

Williams formed an investment group with Natalie Portman, Eva Longoria, Mia Hamm, and Becky G in July 2022 to support the National Women’s Soccer League (NSWL). The group of women, together with Williams’ daughter Olympia, co-own Angel City FC, which became the NSWL’s 11th franchised side headquartered in Los Angeles.

She is proudest of helping small businesses get off the ground and building diversity in various spaces.

“Hey everyone, I thought it’d be really fun to kinda talk about things that I do now that I don’t play professional tennis anymore. Kinda evolved from that. One thing that I have been doing, that I’m doing for years and years is investments,” Serena Williams said in her recent TikTok video.

“So I invest in a lot of companies, early companies, so think early stage, where companies have just started. And, I’ve always done this, I’ve actually been investing for over 14 years.”

Williams has found herself getting more and more engaged with investments and is proud of her successes including investing in startup that would become a unicorns.

She said that investment was her plan B but it has proven more profutable than her tennis career.

“Just been an entrepreneur, while I was playing tennis, it’s super important for me to make a plan B while I was doing my plan A. Sounds weird, like a plan B. But it was fun, it was really important for me to do that, she added. “So, in my personal portfolio, I have invested in over 85 companies, maybe? Also, 14 are unicorn and a few decacorns.”

Serena Ventures was created in 2014 in Washington, D.C. by Williams and Alison Rapaport Stilman with the goal of assisting businesses “whose perspectives and innovations level the playing field for women and people of colour.”

However, she only announced the company in a post to Instagram in April 2019. It is now headquartered in the San Francisco Bay Area, California, and is actively seeking early-stage, series A, B, C, and seed investments.

Serena Ventures manages a wide portfolio of 64 firms in consumer products and services, information technology, TMT, healthcare, e-commerce, and wellness.

According to the firm’s website, 53% of these 64 firms are created by women, and 76% by entrepreneurs from historically underrepresented backgrounds.

Andy Roddick, a former tennis player, recently expressed his worries about the aftermath of Simona Halep’s failed drug test. He was particularly upset by her team’s apparent lack of responsibility, especially coach Patrick Mouratoglou. The former world no. 1 tennis player, Simon Halep, suffered for months after failing a drug test for a banned substance during the US Open in 2022.

Triumphant even in defeat, Simona Halep reflects on journey back to Miami Open after doping ban

Following a long stretch of battle after her appeal for innocence, Halep recently received a reduction in her ban and is all set to make a comeback at the Miami Open. Recalling the dark times of Halep’s career, Roddick emphasized the unfair weight that was placed on her and the necessity of accountability for the entire coaching and management staff.

Andy Roddick’s take on the inadequacy of accountability from Mouratoglou after Halep’s drug test failure
In an Instagram video, Patrick Mouratoglou claimed that after the 2022 US Open, Halep tested positive for the prohibited drug Roxadustat because his team gave her the reportedly tainted collagen supplement. However, it was Halep alone, who received all the backlash while Mouratoglou and the team slowly backed off. “I was just kind of mad that she was having to pay the total bill, and maybe that’s a dumb take by me. But that’s important to me, and I had sympathy for her for this reason,” Roddick said in his podcast.

Roddick’s comments highlight how crucial it is to make sure that everyone involved is held responsible for their choices and actions. “It is absolutely also a team sport—your team, the people around you, it’s all consuming for everyone that you have on salary, and you at some point have to trust fall into those people around you. And I just feel like she chose the wrong place to fall, unfortunately ”, he further added.

Andy Roddick has consistently shown his support for the 32-year-old player by standing up against the unfair actions of her coach and teammates. Calling out Mouratoglou various times in his podcast for his unjust behavior against Simona Halep, Roddick has pointed out the overshadowed part of the whole story.

Roddick’s comments on the importance of ‘trust’ in the professional arena of tennis
Andy Roddick has previously taken the side of Simon Halep by addressing the problems she faced by trusting the wrong people around her. Presenting an example of himself in the same scenario as Mouratoglou, Roddick explained how he would have dealt with the whole situation.

“Like if I’d have done that, if I’d have been a part of giving someone something and them trusting me with it. I’d definitely been out there trying to take as many bullets as possible for that person, right? Like saying I did this. I gave it to her, it’s my fault.”, he had previously said in his podcast.

In light of Halep’s struggle to return to the tennis community by fighting alone, Andy Roddick’s remarks serve as a reminder of the need for integrity, transparency, and responsibility in the professional realm of tennis.

Novak Djokovic is currently enjoying his time off the court. A few days ago, he attended the Le Club Lacoste Miami Open Launch Party at the Soho Beach House in Miami, Florida, along with his ATP peers. And, now he was seen enjoying a bright sunny day at the beach with his wife Jelena Djokovic.

Novak Djokovic and Jelena first met each other while attending and playing tennis in high school. They went on to date for almost 8 years, before eventually tying the knot in 2014 (just a few days after Djokovic won his second Wimbledon Championship) in Sveti Stefan, a small coastal town in Montenegro. In this instance, Jelena took to Instagram to post a picture with her husband at the seashore of Miami and captioned the picture with a ‘heart’ emoji.

The 2023 season was one of the best seasons of Novak Djokovic’s career. After its end, Djokovic penned down a heartfelt note to his wife saying, “What an amazing season this has been. Forever grateful to my wife for being the best mother I could ask for to kids, while I was making history of the sport. Her support and love that I have been feeling from my family made this historic season possible.“

Who Is Jelena Djokovic? Inside Her Life With Novak Djokovic Away From Tennis

In 2021, during an interview, Jelena revealed that despite being a “great professional” Djokovic is also a “wonderful father.” Notably, he was recently seen taking some time off his busy schedule to express his love and affection for his wife by sending her kisses during the 2024 Indian Wells Masters campaign. Having said that, Djokovic also acknowledges how it can be a challenging affair to be with him.

“It’s kind of living on the edge with the wolf” – Djokovic
During an on-court interview, Novak Djokovic revealed that being in a relationship with him can be very challenging. He referred to himself as a wolf and stated, “It can be very stressful to run with the wolf. I know that she doesn’t enjoy it at all times. It’s kind of living on the edge with the wolf.” He believes he “carries” the traits of a wolf within himself, saying that the dynamic energy can sometimes turn into a roar or outburst.

Who Is Novak Djokovic's Wife? All About Jelena Djokovic

Meanwhile, getting a lot of public attention and being in the limelight all the time is pretty challenging for Jelena Djokovic. During an interview with ‘Hello Magazine,’ she stated that their relationship was like ‘science fiction’. “Us getting together was like science fiction almost. I was a student barely getting by, and he was a very young tennis player who also had no money to spare on expensive trips.” She also revealed that their relationship would have been impossible if she hadn’t left her job.

2K gave a treat to all tennis fans when they announced the news of Top Spin 2k25 out of nowhere. Top Spin was a series of tennis games that lived largely in the hearts of its fans. Many were distraught as Top Spin 4 was the final installment in 2011. But after 13 years, it returned to us, and it features many new players, including Coco Gauff.

While the American sensation is one of the biggest selling points of the game, she has not played it herself. But she recently revealed who she would choose if she were to play the game, and she did not choose her idol.

Coco Gauff is excited “to be in a video game” although she doesn’t “play much sports games”
Gauff recently played her first-round match against Nadia Podoroska and won it in a dominant display of 6-1, 6-2. After the bout, she sat down for an interview where she talked about the much-awaited game – “Yeah, I knew I was going to be in it because actually, in Australia I did the little scan thing that you do for it. I actually never played the game. I have seen it. I don’t play much sports games, to be honest. But I will try to get it and maybe see how I play. I’ve seen a video of it, and the swings look funny. Yeah, it’s pretty cool to be in a video game. I don’t know how I would feel playing myself, though.”

When further asked who she would want to play as, she said, “Probably as one of the big three, yeah. Probably them.” At the moment, Roger Federer is the only big three player in the game. It went on to show Gauff’s preference for him over her idol, Serena Williams, who is also in the game.

Season passes are set to come sometime after the initial launch, and we could also see Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic join the roster. While Gauff is not certain about the game, another player said that it can be a great development for tennis.

Daniil Medvedev opens up on tennis once again making a stake in sports games
There have been many tennis games since Top Spin 4, but none of them managed to fill the hole that the 2K tennis game left. With the release a month away, Daniil Medvedev believes its return will be highly beneficial for tennis. He believed FIFA, now EA Sports FC, has been a dominating force in sports games, and playing Pro Evolution Soccer does not scratch the itch.

“Yes, play Pro Evolution Soccer somewhat close, but it’s always FIFA. FIFA now FC, so let’s see if in tennis, we can have uh something like this, and I think uh yeah it’s going to be good if the game is good and uh even tennis players can play.”

The return of Top Spin 2K25 is one of the most exciting events for tennis fans besides the Miami Open. Playing the game on day 1 will be a priority for many as they hope it can live up to the legend of Top Spin 4.

Novak Djokovic‘s limited presence right from the start of this season has been making fans more eager to hear from him. Having pulled out of the Miami Open, making a surprise appearance for the fans at the ATP Tour season 52, the Serb is back once again to unleash the role of Bert Critchley. Or is it the other way around? Only ATP knows!

The whole tennis world was in a loop of mystery as Djokovic surprised fans with an unusual appearance, ripping his t-shirt off. Bert Critchley has always been about the ‘realism’, but the Djoker has other ideas!

Novak Djokovic shares ‘behind the scenes’ of his mysterious Bert Critchley role
The tennis world experienced a massive shock when the ATP tour uncovered that the iconic figure known as Novak Djokovic is, in fact, a character played by actor Bert Critchley. The Tour, which has always been known for tennis excellence, has been disclosed to be nothing more than the world’s best-scripted reality show titled ‘The Tour.’

Giving another update on the show, ‘Novak Djokovic’ shared behind-the-scenes footage of a video in which he was previously seen ripping his t-shirt off. Djokovic, or rather Critchley, can be seen discussing the details of his act with a crew member. “Should I then rip my shirt off?” Djokovic asks, to which the crew member responds, “No, that will be the next bit.”

Critchley’s journey from a young skiing pro to a tennis legend left many fans puzzled and in shock. Along with Djokovic, the sequence also involved several other players from the ATP circuit, making them a part of the ‘truth’.

Andy Murray stepping into a different dimension
It wasn’t just Novak Djokovic who became a part of this mysterious revelation by the ATP tour. Along with him, Andy Murray’s role was also swapped with Sir Fraser McKnight. In a video that gave out glimpses of their role, one of his dialogues blew the fans’ minds.

“Let’s face it: people are stupid. So, they’ll buy anything,” McKnicght said on the fact that everyone always believed that he was Andy Murray. Even Gaël Monfils, or Peter Arthur, made a shocking revelation – he’s not actually athletic in real life!

Who’s your favorite ‘actor’ on the ATP Season 52 so far? Let us know your picks in the comments below!

Roger Federer had one of his most dominant Grand Slam performances during the Wimbledon 2017. Without dropping even a single set throughout the tournament, Federer went on to win the title and lift the Wimbledon trophy for the eighth time in his career. The Swiss legend’s title run was exceptional, filled with numerous iconic moments. One of those moments occurred in the semifinal clash against Tomas Berdych when he kept proving the commentators wrong three times in the same game.

During one of the games in the tie against Tomas Berdych, the commentators – Andrew Castle, Boris Becker, and Tim Henman tried putting their analysis skills to the test by predicting where Roger Federer was going to serve.

Becker went up first, predicting that the #3 seeded player would serve out wide. Merely a second later, Federer hit an ace, serving down the T. Similar to Becker, Castle also predicted that Federer would be serving wide in his following serve. Yet again, the commentators were wrong. Finally, Henman’s guess made the commentators go 0-3 in their prediction, as Federer ended the game by serving down the T.

The clip of the same can be seen in the reel posted by Instagram account @federerfansforever below.

Apart from unknowingly toying around with the commentators, Federer also asserted command over Berdych. Grabbing a win in (7-6, 7-6, 6-4), the widely regarded GOAT made his place in the finals.

With the likes of #1 Andy Murray, #2 Novak Djokovic, and #4 Rafael Nadal out in the quarterfinals or before, Federer had a relatively easier encounter in the finals, facing Marin Cilic. As expected, “FedEx” completely humiliated Cilic, winning the duel 6-3, 6-1, 6-4.
