Crawford’s update is sure to leave Spence fans uneasy.

Terence Crawford might have just moved on from Errol Spence Jr.

Crawford shocked the world back in July 2023. It’s not the fact that he defeated Spence that had boxing fans surprised. What was rather stunning was how dominant “Bud” looked against “The Truth.” Spence could never get into second gear in the fight.

Terence Crawford Hints That Errol Spence Jr Rematch Is Off

A second-round knockdown would be a sign of bad things to come for Spence. There is no doubt that “The Truth” showed heart, but he was outmatched en route to a ninth-round TKO loss.

A rematch clause was put in place for the Crawford vs. Spence fight as long as both men agree to terms. It appears there is a standstill, which may have led to arguably the pound-for-pound best boxer today moving on from the rematch.

Here’s a message Terence Crawford sent on his X account:

“I done heard it all now @ErrolSpenceJr it’s ok tho because all in all I’m glad it’s over and done with. I wish you well ma brotha.”

Spence, who has dealt with eye issues, including a retinal detachment in his left eye, recently revealed in a deleted post on Instagram Stories that he underwent cataract surgery. Despite the eye problems, Spence has said he will not be retiring

It’ll be interesting to see what Crawford does, and of course the health of Spence. If the former world welterweight champion is finally able to put his issues to bed, then he won’t be short on some key matchups.

As for Crawford, if he’s indeed done with Spence, then what would he do next? Does he stay put and look to silence the rise of Jaron “Boots” Ennis? Does he move up and look to take all the gold at junior middleweight? Does he go right after Canelo Alvarez?

These are all burning questions surrounding “Bud’s” future.

There is no denying that Terence Crawford is one of the best fighters boxing has to offer today. Doubling down on his boxing acumen, former heavyweight champion, Lennox Lewis has suggested how ‘Bud’ can possibly beat, another abled fighter of today, Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez.

After beating Julius Indongo in 2017 to become undisputed in the super lightweight class and then defeating Errol Spence Jr., to become undisputed in the welterweight division, he is one of the very few 2x undisputed champions in boxing history. In the wake of such a feat, in hopes of turning the 2x into 3x, the ambitious Crawford called on the unified super middleweight champion, Canelo Álvarez. But can Crawford really defeat Canelo, who’s only been defeated twice in his 64-fight career? Here is what Lewis has to say.

Lennox Lewis is all praises for Terence Crawford
It’s a possibility,” remarked the 3x world heavyweight champion. In a recent interview with Fight Hub TV, Lennox Lewis was asked about what he thinks of Crawford wanting to fight Canelo. The British legend said, “Let me tell you about Terence Crawford, that man is Kung Fu. You know, when you watch a martial arts movie, you know, you think of him, because he’s full with his style, great with his style.”

“He’s got power, he’s got poise, he’s got speed, he’s got movement, he’s got the full package and no wonder is undisputed, double undisputed that’s quite remarkable,” said Lewis.

He further mentioned that if he went on to beat Canelo, he would be undisputed thrice and that would been even more remarkable. And if this feat is achieved, he added, “We got to bow to him at that point,” making a splendid case for Bud.

But is that enough to beat Canelo, the Mexican fighter who’s considered to be one of the best in the sport?

Lewis argued that there is a way to defeat Canelo that hardly any fighter has learned. Bivol’s victory over the Jalisco fighter was attributed to the former’s weight. Mayweather fought a Canelo who was still young in the sport, while ‘Money’ was seemingly in his prime, coming off a strong streak of undefeated fights.

So, what is this way that Lewis suggests? It’s the art of ‘jabs’.

The Lennox Lewis jab
‘The Lion’ as many call him, was famous and even feared for his signature jab that he perfected early in his career. The signature straight right hand has fazed the likes of Mike Tyson and Evander Holyfield. Now, as he looks back at how ‘the jab’ pushed him to the top of boxing, leaving him defeated only twice in his 45-fight-long career, he thinks the jab is what could dethrone Alvarez.

He further explained, “I know every great heavyweight has a jab. Even the lighter weights, they’re not using the jabs. They’re forgetting that the jab is the main weapon of a fighter. The first weapon of a fighter is a jab, and after that, it’s a right-hand hook, uppercut. But first, you gotta establish your jab.”

Terence Crawford currently awaits a date for his rematch with Errol Spence Jr. Once that happens, it remains to be seen if he gets a fight with Canelo. Who do you think would win between Bud and Canelo? Let us know in the comments section below.

Terence Crawford had a ton to get off his chest. After taking home every major world title at 147 pounds, the 36-year-old has a bunch of time on his hands. He might be currently enjoying his vacation but he’s been paying attention to some of the brazen words of Teofimo Lopez.

The current WBO and Ring Magazine champ at 140 pounds recently made it known that he wants a matchup with Crawford next. Being called out is something that the pound-for-pound star is accustomed to but Lopez didn’t merely leave it at that. He went on a rant claiming that Crawford’s entire welterweight run was fool’s gold and the fighters he beat along the way were essentially shot.

Controversy and trash talk is something that Crawford specializes in. At one point, both fighters were under the promotional thumb of Top Rank. On numerous occasions, they’ve shared the same room and appeared pretty cordial with one another. So why is Lopez taking the time to shred Crawford’s resume? While Crawford isn’t sure, he recently fired back.

“Teofimo Lopez, your little b!tch ass better worry about them little guys that’s on yo ass down there in yo weight class,” wrote Crawford on his social media account. “It’s crazy. Every time I see yo hoe ass, you don’t even look my way, but when you in front of a camera, you got so much to say. You a p-ssy.”

It’s all fun and games with a dash of violence and disrespect but Crawford doesn’t want to be a distraction. In just under a month, Lopez will jump into the ring with Jamaine Ortiz.

There’s a reason why Crawford has given everyone he’s fought a beatdown. Well, obviously his skills are through the roof but also, he never allows anyone to rip away his focus.

Going back-and-forth can be fun but before Lopez flips Crawford the middle finger and throws more shade in his direction, he should probably pay attention to the man that will attempt to take his head off on February 8th.

“Hey Teofimo Lopez, naw real sh!t, good luck in yo fight. Focus on him because he can fight and I don’t want you to look bad worrying about me when you got other problems on yo hands.”

Is it ever okay to speak ill of the dead? Most people would say no, but not this X user! In a string of unfortunate events, Terence Crawford had to say farewell to two close friends within the past few months. First, it was Samuel Teah, who passed away in November last year. Now, the new year started with tragedy for ‘Bud’ Crawford, as his former manager Cameron Dunkin passed away.

‘Tsunami’ Teah became the unfortunate victim of gun violence during the last Thanksgiving holiday weekend after landing himself in a domestic dispute. On the other hand, Dunkin had fought cancer for quite a while and succumbed to the disease. However, an X user tried to make things worse for Crawford by making an insensitive remark about both diseased individuals and one of Crawford’s close aides, still living. So, the undefeated pugilist decided to rip the fan a new one on social media today.

Terence Crawford issues a dare
On January 2, Crawford turned to X, sharing a heartfelt message after Cameron’s passing. Despite the sensitivity of the situation, the user remarked, “First Samuel yeah now Cameron Dunkin next is BOMAC.” Upon discovering the disrespectful comment, Crawford wrote back. “Bet you yo soft a** wouldn’t say that in my face,” ‘Bud’ wrote.

Brian ‘BoMac’ McIntyre is Crawford’s trainer and also a very close friend. The pair have known each other for nearly all their lives, having grown up on the same street. Before becoming a trainer, ‘BoMac’ was a boxer himself. But after noticing Crawford’s talent, he took Crawford under his wing. McIntyre was also in Crawford’s corner when he became the undisputed welterweight champion. Moreover, here’s what ‘The Hunter’ wrote about his departed friends.

Joining the likes of Teah’s manager, Sarah Fina, Terence Crawford wrote, “Rest in peace my boy! You was a great person.” On the other hand, Dunkin’s passing saw a similar controversy! Hours after Dunkin’s death was confirmed on social media by his family, boxing matchmaker Rick Glaser made an equally rude comment about the late manager.

“There’s no R.I.P. here, it’s Good Riddance Cameron Dunkin. The lies have now officially stopped,” wrote Glaser. Meanwhile, Crawford wished for peace for Dunkin after death and expressed gratitude for what his former manager had done for his career. “RIP Cameron Dunkin, appreciate what you done for me, the good and bad,” wrote Crawford.

Once Terence Crawford took out Errol Spence Jr., the obvious suspects emerged as his possible next opponent.

Jaron Ennis was recently elevated from interim champ to full titlist, making him a viable option. Tim Tszyu was another fighter whose name held weight. Even Jermell Charlo and Gervonta Davis were thrown around as likely options.

Each man brought something intriguing to the table. In the case of Ennis, Crawford could knock off an immensely talented young fighter whose perpetual trash talk and skills have gained him a ton of buzz. Tim Tszyu continues to run over the junior middleweight competition and has a 154-pound title to bring to the table. Charlo’s three junior middleweight titles have caught Crawford’s attention, despite being thoroughly outworked in his last outing. Davis doesn’t have the size of those who were previously named but carries enough clout and popularity to lure Crawford into the ring.

Although they were all deemed worthy, Crawford’s preferred choice is Canelo Alvarez, the super middleweight kingpin.

At one point, even Crawford admitted that he never dreamed of facing someone that much more naturally bigger than he is. With that said, the pound-for-pound star warmed up to the idea.

From the outside looking in, Crawford’s all-time great status won’t help him against someone three weight classes above him. Everyone on team Crawford, including Bomac, however, doesn’t view Alvarez as some perfect fighter unable to be touched.

To a large extent, Bomac has watched Alvarez from the shadows. He saw the Mexican star come up short against Floyd Mayweather several years ago. He saw him pick up a draw against Gennadiy Golovkin. He saw him lose a decision against Dmitry Bivol. He also sat back and witnessed him achieve a Hall of Fame level career.

With all the intel he’s gathered over the years, Bomac is confident that Crawford can capitalize on his mistakes.

“He’ll beat him,” Bomac told Sean Zittel of FightHype.com. “He got holes in his game.”

Weeks after the IBF stripped Terence Crawford of their belt subsequently reducing ‘Bud’ to a Unified Welterweight champion, the 36-year-old is taking a break from the sport to celebrate Thanksgiving with his beloved family. Although Crawford was initially upset that the IBF assigned him a mandatory title defense at a time he had to honor the rematch with Errol Spence Jr., ‘Bud’ is finally moving on by spending quality time with his adorable family members who’ve been with him through thick and thin.

Of course, ‘Bud’ needs to be in his element before the rematch with Spence Jr. And what better way to find his peace and joy than a memorable Thanksgiving? On that note, Crawford took to Instagram and showed his fans how he celebrated the holiday with the most precious ones of his life.

The simplicity of Terence Crawford touches fans’ hearts

Terence Crawford is no ordinary champion in the sport. He is the first male boxer to become Undisputed in two separate divisions. In addition, in his last match against Errol Spence Jr., ‘Bud’ earned a guaranteed figure of $25 from the fight. Yet, you would be surprised to know the manner in which the pugilist from Nebraska celebrated Thanksgiving. Despite his financial success in the sport, Crawford paid zero heed to luxury by opting for simplicity.

As a result, a fan said, “Bro is so humble. So much respect to you homie!”

Similarly, one added, “It’s crazy how ‘Bud’ got all this money and [yet] looks like a regular person, amazing.”

On the other hand, one wrote, “Legend in the ring and even more legendary by being the daddy his children deserve.”

Meanwhile, one joked by writing: “Bro got so many kids, Terence stays busy.”

Finally, one declared, “This guy carried himself like a true champion.”

In this context, it is also worth mentioning that besides the family photos, Crawford teased his fans with a “fire” turkey.

In addition to the photos he uploaded, Crawford took to one of his Instagram stories to disclose the turkey he cooked and munched on. Apart from that, he informed the fans that it tasted delicious. “I ain’t gon’ lie to ya’ll, but this turkey was fire. I don’t even eat turkey like that,” Crawford said. Frankly speaking, it was quite hilarious to see him eat and argue that he cooked the best turkey.
